Title: Gybril Cisse, Nathan Brown and Leg Injuries
Post by: PuntRdRoar on June 08, 2006, 08:56:07 AM
Sadly Gybril Cisse has broken his leg again and is out of the world cup. What has this to do with RFC...well probably not alot except that Cisse and Brown had similarly bad leg breaks and everyone needs to sit down and work out if a leg that breaks that badly would be weakened. If thats the case...then people need to think about it and the future.

Djibril fractured his right tibia this time, when he had the same break as Browny it was his left leg.

Poor guy  :(. Was in good form too.

I think Brendan Lade would be the only AFL player to have broken both his legs(?) but he came back.

can someone ring up browny and tell him that the french bloke broke his other leg.

Seeing him on the footy show he said that Cisse broke the same leg again. Browny looked like he was crapping himself :help

someone let the bloke know that he didnt rebreak the same leg. The last thing we need is Dr Pink jumping at shadows, confidence is a very fragile thing indeed! :gotigers

Browny was very quiet last night on the show. Then we had Dr Sam tell him his leg looked no better when clearly the swelling had gone down  ::).

If Browny can get his hands on the footy early and kick a goal or two his confidence will return quickly.

Shock for Brown
10 June 2006
Herald Sun
Daryl Timms and AAP

A SECOND horrific leg injury suffered by Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse hasn't gone unnoticed by Richmond's Nathan Brown, who plays his first game today since Round 3.

Brown snapped his right leg in two places last season in almost identical fashion to Cisse's broken left leg in 2004.

Cisse, who like Brown had a rod inserted in his leg, played again after just 163 days. But he broke his right fibula and tibia 10 minutes into France's final World Cup warm-up clash with China on Thursday.

Cisse, 24, suffered his first broken leg while playing for Liverpool.

Richmond sought advice last year on Brown's rehabilitation and spoke to Liverpool club doctor Mark Waller about Cisse's recovery.

Brown has been given the green light to coach himself on his much-anticipated return today against the Kangaroos.

Brown sat out some of the contact drills at training yesterday, but assistant coach David King said he was ready to play.

He said the 28-year-old would mostly dictate his return to the Tigers forward line.

"There will be some sort of reduced scale in terms of minutes played but I think he'll dictate how many minutes he plays," King said.

"There'll be times when he goes up and plays high in the midfield and he'll probably play a little bit deep forward as well.

"It's up to him, he'll let us know how he's going."

I saw another shocking leg injury in the soccer last night  :-X. Ar_senal's young star Eduardo had his leg and ankle broken in a shocking tackle by a Birmingham player and it took the doctors and trainers about 10 minutes to get him off the field. They're saying it could be career ending  :(.

What about Peter Foster's swinging leg that ruined Paul Dear's career from the game at the Western Oval.

The AFL then reacted by bringing in the tripping law.

Delibrate hacking of legs could result in a court case for loss of earnings.  Would not want to see that, especially that leg kick from Armitage to Mackie at the Cattery on Saturday.

Yep the Foster one was a shocker too Darth. Thankfully a thing of the past. Hacking someone's legs is a gutless act.

A youtube of the incident - don't look if you're squeamish, although it's not that bad.

You can see his bone sticking through his sock :-X. It's also lower down towards the ankle. A lot like Jason Snell of Geelong.

At least the Poms didn't show 7 different angles of the incident like Nine did with Browny.
