Had a poor year this year after showing some promise. Really not proving to be the foil Mitchell needs

Could do worse - hopefully just for a token pick that we likely won't get anyone better with anyway.... :shh

Kozi has nominated Richmond

Hawk requests Richmond trade

Hawthorn key forward Jacob Koschitzke has asked for a trade to Richmond.
Two sources with knowledge of the decision confirmed Koschitzke, who had been offered a new contract by the Hawks, told club officials of his decision on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old has played 48 games for the Hawks since being drafted with pick 52 in the 2018 national draft. It was hoped the 196-centimetre forward would form a long-term key forward partnership with Mitch Lewis but after a promising first season he has struggled for consistent form.

Send them our 3rd round pick

I think this is a good move, unlike that Greshan play.

Koschitzke was taken with pick 52 in the draft, meaning negotiations could centre around a second or third-round draft pick.

That’s an awesome get for us. I know he had a down year but he could easily bounce back.. and even if he doesn’t prove to be a top kpf, he will cost us virtually nothing and we have a ready made, young kpf to just provide a contest and help lynch. Awesome !
-
Dont mind it, as long as it's for a third-rounder at most.
At least it fills a definite list need.

Great trade as long as it's for a 3rd round max.
Fills a need and gives Samson some competition. Can see both of them being out tall timber duo in next phase.

Straight swap for Hugo :thumbsup

Don't think he is a fwd but a tall defender which is a type we also need.

Was taken with a late second so surely is only worth a third rounder considering he hasn’t broken out yet.

This could be right WP. I like this move, Richmond like recruiting.

Champion Data rate 32 players on the trade table in season 2023
Champion Data has found there are a lack of players on the trade table rated as elite or above average in their position this year. So where are the bargain recruits?

Not pretty numbers for the Hawk who wants to be a Tiger. He wasn’t great at getting the ball and was bad in front of goal, kicking a major from just 38 per cent of his shots this year. That explains who he managed just nine goals from 12 games. Koschitzke couldn’t deliver as a second banana to Mitch Lewis, but Richmond will be hoping he can as Tom Lynch’s offsider.

How is the accuracy 38% if he’s kicked no goals?
Edit silly me they’re averages.
He kicked more than 20 the 2 seasons prior so my gut is that he has potential? We have no decent forward depth anyway so for me this would be a free hit if we sign him up

He kicked 9 goals 10 behinds in 2023 which is 47% so must of had 4 shots OOB to reduce that to 38%
Kicked 18 - 8 in 2022 and 27 - 19 in his debut season 2021
As a comparison
Kosi first 48 games kicked 54 - 38
Jack first 48 games kicked 59 - 42
Tom first 48 games kicked 57 - 30
Both Jack and Tom's 4th year saw them start to reach their potential. It will be good to see Kosi do the same thing

Kozi had a bad year in 2023 but he has looked promising at times in prior years.

Hawks list boss Rob McCartney said Hawthorn had put a contract offer in front of Jacob Koschitzke but was willing to work out a “fair and reasonable trade” with Richmond for the key forward after five seasons at the club.

THE TRADES THAT WILL OCCUR
Jacob Koschitzke (Hawthorn)
Where is he going: Richmond. The Tigers believe he was offered only $150,000 plus match payments on a one-year deal (with a trigger) so the Hawks can only expect a third-rounder.
Hawthorn can’t ask for too much for him because it will set the market on what the Suns request on Chol. If Koschitzke is worth pick 40, then Chol is pick 25. So a third-rounder is about fair.
What does it mean: Expectations should be modest. Koschitzke kicked only nine goals in 12 games this year, going goalless in six of those matches. But he is only 23, kicked 27.20 from 20 matches in 2021, and the Tigers desperately need key talls to play alongside Tom Lynch. It’s a canny move with little downside.

HAWKS TARGET PICK FOR FORWARD
Hawthorn is chasing a pick inside the first 25 for Jacob Koschitzke, who has requested a trade to Richmond.
The key forward is out of contract, with the Tigers expected to offer a late selection to get the deal over the line.
Richmond currently holds picks No.27, 48 and 66 in the first four rounds of the draft.
Koschitzke played 12 games for the Hawks this season for a career tally of 48 senior appearances over the past three years.
The Tigers have targeted him as they look to add to their forward line stocks, with champion goalkicker Jack Riewoldt retiring and Tom Lynch returning from a serious foot injury.

HAWKS PLAY DOWN PICK 25 FOR KOSCHITZKE
One piece of business the Hawks are potentially more keen on doing is trading out key forward Jacob Koschitzke.
The 23-year-old is the subject of interest from Richmond who have reportedly been told that they must give up a top-25 pick to land the player.
But McCartney says we should be careful regarding what we read at this time of year.
“Don’t always believe everything you read,” McCartney said of the rumours regarding the 48-game forward.
“I think the market determines every player’s value. Is he a (pick) 25? That’s for (Hawthorn list manager) Mark McKenzie and the Richmond list management team to come to an agreement.
“I wouldn’t believe everything you read.”

7 – Jacob Koschitzke – Hawthorn (has requested a trade to Richmond)
“Let’s start with Jacob Koschitzke,” Cornes told AFL Trade Radio.
“I thought he was on a one-way ticket to being delisted. That's where I thought he was.
“If you are not playing in a side that finished 16th, if you can't get a game and they're crying out for a key forward because Mitch Lewis has got half an ACL that's hanging on by a thread.
“If you're not playing, I think you're at risk of being delisted.
“All of a sudden now Hawthorn has denied that they want pick 25 (from Richmond).
“His reputation, you cannot argue has significantly increased just by the fact that he is on the trade table, no doubt about that.”

Player manager David Trotter of Hemisphere Management has given an update on several of his AFL clients who could be on the move this trade period.
On Richmond target Jacob Koschitzke and reports of Hawthorn wanting pick 25 for the forward
“I think they (Hawthorn and Richmond) are catching up tomorrow from my understanding,” Trotter said.
“In this, we hopefully don't have to get involved, that's the best scenario for us.
“Usually once you've done enough of these, you realise (that) you finish at 7:30pm next Wednesday, so there's no need to panic just yet.
“Usually if you get to sort of Tuesday or Wednesday next week, we might have to get a bit more involved.
“Both clubs in any situation, one's trying to get as much as they can and one's trying to pay as little as they can.
“I get that's where your starting point is, but, you know, rarely do they not get to a point where it ends up getting done.
“I'm not too worried about that one at the moment. We'll see how we go.”

Jacob Koschitzke
The Tigers quickly shut down the Hawks' hopes of landing a pick inside the top 25 for the key forward, who has requested a trade to Richmond. He's out of contract and keen to get to Punt Road. The Tigers hold picks 29, 50 and 68, with the Hawks having a number of deals in motion for the final days of the trade period.
The Hawks have since shown a willingness to get the Tigers involved in talks around a potential three-club trade [with Gold Coast & Chol], which could also progress Jacob Koschitzke's move to Richmond.

Chol's former club Richmond holds the key to landing him at Hawthorn, according to 7NEWS’ Mitch Cleary.
Cleary believes Hawk Jacob Koschitzke will play a role by moving to Richmond as part of the Chol deal.
“The Hawks are prioritising a deal for Mabior Chol,” he said on Saturday.
“The deal likely to be a three-way trade involving Richmond.
“It would see the Tigers give up a pick to the Hawks for Koschitzke, who on trade it to the Gold Coast Suns for Chol.”
Already Gold Coast has knocked back the Hawks’ first offer for Chol – reportedly a future third rounder with a later pick in return.

He may well be a dud but he has kicked goals the last two seasons in the vfl and was servicable at afl before that.
why not just bolster our stocks with someone like Chris Burgess. He's lead the goalkicking the last two seasons i think, and im only basing the comments on that as ive not seen him play this year.
My thinking is when your almost devoid of player types and depth in an area why not just look to find a starting point and build from there. Don't just put the que in the rack with Koschitzke go and target another and a kid in the ND.
Im all for doing the Bradtke experiment again as well. So what, it did not work with Bradtke but it was the way to go. it cost us nothing and a lot of the time it may not work out. but its a damn good way of getting lucky and finding the odd diamond in the rough.
In our position we have a free crack at this without criticism. We don't have draft picks and much room to wriggle with trades so we do it with f/a state leagues and late nd picks and rookie picks where there should be no expectation of any of them becoming super stars. If they work they work if they fail they fail nothing lost but bit to be gained.
-
Burgess was traded to the Crows
-
Sounds like we’re just giving up a future third.
-
Still reckon we should grab Sellers from Norf's VFL. :shh
-
we dont have much choice and he is very low risk for me. Fills a need and that Is an understatement.
-
Can Richmond get its replacement in the forward line (Jacob Koschitzke) to work alongside Tom Lynch?
There have been a few roadblocks in the Koschitzke move to Punt Road, but surely the Hawks come to the party so they can move on to securing Mabior Chol and potentially Jack Gunston to partner Mitch Lewis.

Hawthorn want Pick 27 for Jacob Koschitzke.
Richmond do not want to trade pick 27 for Koschitzke but rather trade Pick 50
There would also be complications as pick 50 won’t be used due to the lack of good back end talent in the draft
Would a future pick get it done?

Burgess was traded to the Crows
Not the point we need to do more than just Koschitzke. Its not all about next year its about 2026 and beyond.
Koschitzke is a good move that may or may not work but boy could we do with another mature type as back up. We needed to be developing a pile of young kpfs from everywhere 5 years ago.
I always keep thinking what key forwards we have only two, they are in the team already but we have not had key forwards pushing from the two,s in god know how long.
In an ideal world we would have had a 22 23 year old now ready to fill Jacks boots, in an ideal world we would have a reasonably experinced back up player in the two's guiding a young key fwd or two creating genuine depth.
We would have a promising young kpf with games behind him.
If we had gone after tall forwards the way we have tried small fwds we probably would not have a problem now.
The attitude has to be okay its a ND pick after 40 or 50 its late and the odds are against. its a rookie pick or a psss msd pick with all of them it doesnt matter if they work out or not odds are most will fail but take enough and you will find your share of good players eg the Bradtke experiment.
-
The lack of good list management will mean they get desperate and pay what Hawthorn want.
Have we put all our eggs just in the Koschitzke basket this off season . Looks like it. No imagination and probably still dont acknowledge where we are at.
Just watch us draft with what picks we have more smalls. You can bet on it.
Time to send out the message we are no longer prepared to be bent over and have long memories.
One answer is to set our fwd line up with Lynch, Balta, and Ryan and if not Ryan, Bauer.
Not ideal but a means to an end.
Tall defenders then become Young, Grimes, Gibcus Broad and Miller again not ideal. But its easier to find tall defenders than tall fwds so use pick 27 on the best available tall.
Its funny the hawthorn list of talls is mostly a list of players taken after pick 52 which is where Koschitzke was taken.
Msd Rookie drafts late nd ssp all what you would generalise as late picks with all clubs having several opportunities to pick them up.
They have just two tall players taken inside the top 20 Grainger - Barass at 6 and he is struggling and Josh Weddle taken at pick 18 and managed 17 games last year having been taken in 2022.
The point they show you can find good talls late you just have to take a chance and be prepared for a few failures.

I don’t think we need to nickle and dime this trade. It will end up being for a pick in the late 30’s …. this year or next and we’re going to get something similar for Soldo. I have noticed we’ve stopped with the “if he wants to leave, we’ll let him he owes us nothing” rhetoric

I see him as our best backup option for Nank who is basically guaranteed to be injured at some stage, unless Ryan can slam on 5-10kg over summer.
Difference is that Soldo is contracted and Kosi isn't.
Hawks wanting a mid-2nd is laughable for an uncontacted bloke offered 1 year on about $150k. Plenty of them had him in a delist pile.
Soldo despite his limitations has never been on a delist pile IMO and every club in the league would be happy to have a 2nd backup ruck like him. All clubs want 1 primary ruck and 1 backup but rarely play 2 proper rucks unless one of them is useful forward so there seems to be an ongoing merry go round of 2nd tier rucks looking for better money and opportunity.

JACOB KOSCHITZKE
Despite what the Hawks said on radio last week, Hawthorn wants pick 29. Richmond is saying no way, they have picks 50 & 68.
The Hawks would then use that Pick 29 from Richmond to get Mabior Chol from Gold Coast.
It’s fair to say the Suns and Tigers are aligned, but Hawthorn is the odd one out for this potential three club trade.
The Hawks want too much for Koschitzke and Chol and that’s holding up the Suns and Tigers.

Tell the Hawks to GAGF'd and send him in the pre-season draft. He can nominate his contract terms which will help ensure no one else gets him.
-
I don’t think we need to nickle and dime this trade.
Koschitzke doesn’t have to sign a contract with hawks, just tell him not to sign and we pick him up. Any problem with that??
No, except any club could take him with a psd pick before us if they want t a kpf
Yep not sure which clubs have a psd pick in front of us but at least 5 would have a pick before us id say.
I reckon when you look at Norths list they are one club who would probably take him as their kpf stocks are pretty slim.
In fact going forward id say they have just about everything covered but lack serious depth with KPF KPD and Rucks.
They go into next year with just Combden and Larkey as key fwds the only other option is the ruck/fwd but not quite either in CCJ.
With McKay gone there is really only Corr and Logue with 5 gamer Dawson as kpd's.
With Goldstein gone Xerri CCJ and Free who has not played a game as rucks. Im actually shocked they have not gone for a few mature talls just like Koschitzke.
There is Bound to be a few other clubs in a simolar boat as well.
-
Part of the Biggy deal would have been they don't take him. He won't go West and Dimma won't pinch him so we can get him easily. Hawks won't redraft him if he tells em FO.

A player will almost always get to the club they wanted to be traded to in the PSD. Very few exceptions of this not being the case.

Nick Stevens too. Wanted to get to the Pies Port wouldn't trade him so he went in the PSD, Port got nothing and he wound up at Carlton

Hawthorn is still pushing Jacob Koschitzke's trade value hard.

I'd happily part with an F3, especially if we can get an F2 for Soldo.
Likely to be around 45-50
-
I just don’t think the hawks have any leverage here. A player who was in the 2s all season and is uncontracted. They can accept what we offer or let him walk to the PSD, I highly highly doubt anyone will jump in and take him before us.
-
..Hawks posturing becomes all the more amusing when it looks like they could get Ginevan for a late 2nd rounder or early 3rd rounder
Premiership player (albeit he hardly touched it) -v- a bloke who spent most of 2023 running around in the VFL
Righteo then ;D
-
I think I am over this Kozitski trade situation. Time to move on and let them keep him or send him to the draft. He is not worth the effort of a second round pick. . I would rather we recruit Billy Guerts from Dromana. A Ruckman forward who dominated in the Mornington Peninsula division 1 grand final. Ex Collingwood rookie. Or someone similar for nothing.

The two WA clubs would be the problem.

2 x second
1 x Third
2 x Fourth

While being light on to start with we have lost Tarrant, Riewoldt, Nyuon, Bradtke, Colina and Soldo. With just Koschitzke coming back the other way.

Richmond General Manager- Football Talent Blair Hartley said Koschitzke would add to the Tigers’ goal-kicking options.
“We are pleased to add Jacob to our key position stocks for the upcoming season; he has a strong aerial presence and has shown an ability to perform well at AFL level,” Hartley said.
“Jacob has only scratched the surface of what he could develop into as a player, and at only 23, we are very excited he has decided to join our Club.”
--------------
Koschitzke has spent the past five years at Hawthorn since being selected with pick No. 52 at the 2018 AFL National Draft from Murray Bushrangers and Albury.
The 198cm key position player had to bide his time in the VFL for his first two seasons, where he was used predominantly in defence.
Koschitzke had a standout pre-season as a marking forward in 2021, booting six goals in a pre-season game against North Melbourne and earning an AFL debut in Round 1.
The youngster had his best season at AFL level, booting 27 goals across 20 matches, including a five-goal haul against Adelaide in just his fifth match.
Koschitzke received a NAB Rising Star nomination for the performance, which provided a glimpse into his capability as an imposing target inside 50.
Koschitzke has averaged better than a goal a game over 48 matches in the AFL.

Broad praised the work ethic of his potential key forward partner Jacob Koschitzke after being matched up against the former Hawk in drills.

“Same as Sam Naismith, they buy into our culture straight away, so it’s been good having those boys.”

Koschitzke felt he had made a “seamless transition” to the Tigers in the two months since leaving Hawthorn and was benefiting greatly from his existing relationships with new senior coach Adem Yze and assistant Chris Newman, who also crossed over from Hawthorn at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old said the pair had effectively acted as translators to bring him up to speed on the different language Richmond used in meetings.
It has (helped), obviously you’ve got to come to a new environment, I didn’t know any of the players,” Koschitzke said.
“To have those two guys in terms of the coaching structure is has made the transition really easy.
“They’ve been able to explain concepts and relate them to previous Hawthorn terminology and experience, so it’s felt like a pretty seamless sort of transition.”
Tigers spearhead Tom Lynch has not returned to training as he recovers from a fractured foot, but Koschitzke said he had already been a valuable mentor and had been a big reason behind his trade request after 48 games in five seasons at the Hawks.
“He’s been offering me advice … we’re different players with different strengths, but I was picking his brain (on Wednesday) about how best to use my body in one-on-one marking contests and long down-the-lines,” Koschitzke said.
“He’s been really beneficial for my development, and it’s part of the reason why I wanted to come here, I felt like needed that older sort of forward who had learnt the tricks of the trade and done their apprenticeship.
“I didn’t actually get the chance to have that at the Hawks … Mitch Lewis is only (18) months older than myself.
“I felt I just needed someone who really knew the game to give me tips and advice on how to handle adversity and all that stuff that comes along with senior footy.”

NEW FORWARD PARTNER TIPPED TO BE “GREAT ACQUISITION”
By Lachlan Geleit
SEN
23 December 2023
Newly appointed Richmond assistant Chris Newman expects trade recruit Jacob Koschitzke to be a great acquisition for the Tigers.
Koschitzke joined Richmond from Hawthorn in October’s trade period in exchange for pick No.49.
Also heading to Punt Road via Hawthorn in the break was Newman, who served as a development coach, VFL coach and assistant at Waverley Park from 2015 to 2023.
Newman, a former Richmond captain, has returned to the club where he played 268 games to work under new head coach Adem Yze – another ex-Hawthorn assistant.
Having worked with Koschitzke over his 48 games in the brown and gold, Newman expects the key forward to create a strong bond with superstar tall Tom Lynch.
“No not at all, I think 'Kosi' had sort of had some discussions with the club prior to me moving anyway,” Newman said on SEN Mornings in regards to whether he helped recruit Koschitzke to Richmond.
“I think that sort of ticked along in the background, and I think both parties sort of came to an agreement obviously.
“I think Kosi is a great acquisition for us. He provides a really strong contest for us.
“He's a bigger body that can obviously have a presence forward.
“I’m looking forward to working with Kosi again and I think by all reports he's enjoying his time and working closely with Tom Lynch.
“Hopefully those two can form a really strong bond and work really closely together.”

Hawks mates gave us plenty of stick when we drafted. I'm still jury out but yeah, has a fair way to go.
-
Seriously - saw glimpses of every crappy tall forward we've had since Wallace was coach - Hughes, Miller, Edwards, Polak, Vickery, Griffiths- that performance was like a watching a compilation of all those spuds......only things he didn't do was try to mark an invisible ball and headbut a tram.... :shh
-
Can someone get him to put his hands in the resin box

He may not be the next coming of JR BUT THAT IS NOT THE EXPECTATION SURELY.
Reckon he will give a contest bring it to ground kick the odd goal and hopefully will improve with a a bona fide tall fwd in Lynch in the team.
Still i beg the question when oh when are we going to take drafting young key forwards seriously and actually invest something into a few..
-
Will end up in the back line...or delisted...probably the latter.... :shh

Looked good in a few contests in the third but not much else. Although prime richo wouldn’t have looked much better.

As useful as a chocolate frypan.

Did he play?

:lol :lol :lol :lol
-
What was obvious yesterday at the game was Koschitzke and Balta have very little clue how to work in partnership
-
Gotta keep playing him for now. He really needs to find a way to have an impact at contests and stay more involved in games. That level is just not good enough and if thats what he keeps dishing up he will soon find himself in the magoos.
-
I think at best he’ll be a good role player - however it would be interesting to see him play in a forward line that’s getting a decent supply of ball .
-
My god this bloke is a dud
Serves us right , we haven’t drafted a kpf for 15 years
Disgraceful

Agree with this
With a Lynch back this week will be interesting to see if he holds his spot
-
Dawk supporters reckon he plays best when he's thrown into the ruck....seems to fire him up and get him more involved....club said he was going to spend time there but haven't seen much of it so far.....either way I remain extremely sceptical..... :shh

Like taking a horse over the hurdles at training to sharpen them up. Can we put the screens around him if that doesn’t work?
-
Looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane. Useless
-
Not impressed at all with this fella although I wasn't expecting much when we traded him in.
To be fair though I don't think anyone was and he really shouldn't be our no1 forward, ever.
The plan should always have been for him to play second fiddle/ruck relief with Lynch in the forward line but for some reason we went with Balta instead.
Was impressed with his ruck work and leap in those contests so honestly maybe that's his role if he has one at all and if he can kick a goal every week that's good too.
A pity both Lynch and Balta are out because this bloke will get smoked every week taking the best KPD.
-
I think him and Ryan are stocks to see which one develops better and will flick the later. Neither are Lynch or Nank replacements, but a reaction to the competition having 1 ruck and a 2nd ruck/fwd player. We just had Nank in our dynasty with the odd period where we were that good we played 2 pure rucks. Can't do that in modern game so need a ruck/fwd player. I'd personally role with Balta and have 1 of Ryan or Kosi as a back up for Balta role.
Need to develop Nanks replacement / competition as well as Lynch.
-
Having a Dawks reject as our KPF just says it all
-
He's simply not up to the standard as a forward. Looks ok in the ruck, maybe try him down back.

HHHAAAARRRGGGGHHHH that is golden. Its funny because it is true. What an over hyped dud Vickery was yet here we are with Koschitzke.
Sad state of affairs when we are left debating the lesser of two evils in this case two duds.
Lets not forget why we HAD to take Kossie. All the angst should be aimed at those who are paid damn good money to manage our list properly.
-
If this is “karma for vickery” I would still do that player movement again any day of the week because didn’t we get Bolton from the compo pick?
Anyway I was legit hoping we found a Mitchell Lewis or Nick Larkey so of course you are always going to be a bit bummed but the fact of the matter is he was traded in for a 3rd rounder and it was always gonna be rolling the dice. I would argue we are not worse with him on the list vs us hanging onto our pick

A packet of crispy cremes would have been adequate compensation for Vickery. We made off like bandits in that one well the AFL did anyway.

I think our list management wanted one of CCJ or Mabior Chol to still be on the list and haven't had the draft picks to rectify the situation. Or maybe have Bigoa come good but he is also gone so you get Lefau playing his first games which is as hit n hope as you get.

This bloke makes Tyrone Vickery look like Tom Lynch
HHHAAAARRRGGGGHHHH that is golden. Its funny because it is true. What an over hyped dud Vickery was yet here we are with Koschitzke.

VISION of the Kosi-Keane incident: https://x.com/AFL/status/1798678957132542059
--------------
Koschitzke fells Keane
Just as Richmond took control during the third quarter there was an incident that is sure to get looked at by the Match Review Officer. Being attended by Adelaide defender Mark Keane at a break in play, Jacob Koschitzke appeared to throw his arm back and whack the Irishman in the stomach. Keane crumpled to the turf and was attended to by trainers before rising to his feet and playing the game out.

Came good in the second and bloody well needed to ....was w.o.g in the first which was quite the effort in the presence of White JON Dow & Shortsteps.... :shh
-
Would be dirty on Cumo for costing him a 2 goal game .

Would be dirty on Cumo for costing him a 2 goal game .
Yep was really dumb.
Equally poor was cumbo getting jumper punched in the face and the umps letting it happen after paying them a free.
As for Kosi well yeah he worked himself into the game, should have had 2 goals, and I like that he seemed peeed off and smacked that bloke.
I for one preferred AFL when it was more physical including a mild degree of thuggery.

Everyone bar the media, political & chattering classes who talk amongst themselves and down to the rest of us does... :shh
-
He certainly played better when he got a bit aggro
-
Well he should have kicked 2 but didn't thanks to Cumbo and if he'd kicked 2 that would be about on par with Lefau and probably as much as you can ask or a guy we traded in for a late 3rd.
-
Kosi fined $2500 by the MRP.
-
LOL - so they admit he staged then
-
Best game for the club yesterday. Took marks and presented well. More please as we desperately need forward contests.

Agreed, he was good, and his ruck work also solid.
If he can make this his standard every week then he's a starter for me.
Bring in a fit Lynch + Lefau and that's a decent forward line until we can find a new star to replace Lynch.

Agree,
Thought his 2nd efforts were a positive as well.

Would still like us to play a third tall forward tohelp out. Bauer would be ideal imo
For the rest of the year Balta, Kossie and Bauer form permitting.

Bauer is injured. Not sure how closely you really follow anything other than looking at the height and weight of players sometimes..

Copped a knee to the kidneys or ribs in a marking contest.
Looked nasty although was later seen in the 3121 area during the seniors so wouldn’t have thought it would be too serious

From the injury report...
Dion Prestia, Samson Ryan and Jacob Bauer are all tracking towards being available for Round 18, with Bauer suffering a rib injury in the third quarter of the weekend’s VFL match.

Most likely won’t get through the first qtr due to later discovering he actually had a punctured lung
-
Very strong marking tonight.

Very strong marking tonight.
Finally settling in
Think we forget it can take time to adjust to a new club and game style
-
Useless imo. Might fill a hole for a while like vickery, Griffiths or Aaron edwards but he will never be a consistent afl player.

He's been good tonight...only decent key tall forward we've had IMHO

Tall forward - yes. Bolton was our best forward tonight.

In his past three games, Koschitzke is averaging 11.6 disposals, 5.0 marks, 1.0 goals and 4.6 score involvements.
He provided the Tigers with a strong presence up forward, bringing the ball to ground when he couldn’t mark it.
He also has been providing Toby Nankervis with some handy ruck back-up.

Would have preferred to see Blight up forward and Kosi dropped instead.
What a waste of a player and selection Kosi is, he actually epitomises the notion of rubbish footballl player in the vein of Ben Miller, Stuart Edwards, Cleve Hughes, David Honeybun, Ben "tin-man" Holland, Jayden Post, David "ranked no 1" Gourdis, Graham "tram" Polak, Wayne Peters, Steven Jurica, Justin Plapp, Ty "givememoney" Zantuck, Aaron "wifebeater" James and who can forget Ty "SideshowBob" Vickey.
-
He’s been our best forward which isn’t saying much but still. Only one down there that looks like he even has a remote chance of taking a contested mark.
-
All this KOSI bashing. FFS he hasn't even been close to our worst player today. . He actually did many good things . Wtf has Balta done today? Baker , a couple of nice things and nothing else. Kmac , shirt Broad .. even miller has had a shocker today.. yet it's always Kosi .
-
Don't understand the bashing been one of a few last month performing.
-

👍
-
He may not be the answer going forward but at least he has been competetive the last 3 or so games.
-
A confidence player. Does have great hands. Kicking action needs some work. Not our long term solution but is helping as best he can ATM.
-

Been our best tall forward for a month now
He is the least of our problems

He's been ok, leaves plenty of goals out there, but I would say centre half forward is our primary problem though without Lynch. Not saying it's all Kosi fault or that they are easy to find
-
Balta, Lynch and Kossi forward line would cause some problems. If they get into the ground.
Kossi competes. Stays in the team.
-
1 mark?
Cringe x2
-
stuffen useless
-
He's a dud...lmao @ everyone who thought he'd been playing well the last few weeks #lowexpectations :shh
-
But he has been playing well the last few weeks. And yes ‘well’ is subjective based on low expectations as you’ve said, but he’s been the only one able to compete aerially and clunk some contested marks while also chiming in with some goals.
He had a stinker last night though no doubt about it.
-
He's not JR8.
Pick 49 ffs and literally no other key forwards.
He's the least of our issues.
If we had Lynch + Lefau in the team also it may be a different story.
-
It's embarrassing especially for all those players in the VFL and other leagues with some skill and talent to watch this bloke get regular senior games.
Players all over the country collectively wondering what has he done or what exceptional qualities does he have that gives him preeminence?
Great question
-
Interestingly by all reports utility #JacobKoschitzke has been training in defence to start preseason.
Recruited as a fwd, Kosi had an indifferent 1st season managing 12 goals from 14 games.
A talented jnr back, he'll be hoping a change of position leads to a change of fortune.

Great idea as long as he doesn’t go out to nightclubs with Balta
-
With Balta likely suspended he might be really important early stages this year. Good luck to him.
-
Swingman Jacob Koschitzke replaced Blight in the Black team’s defence on Friday — clearly the stronger of the two with senior regulars aplenty — and could find himself an early piece of Richmond’s defensive puzzle this season amid widespread unavailability.
Koschitzke, following an inauspicious maiden season at Tigerland playing in attack, has been training as a defender throughout the pre-season.
On Friday at Punt Road, Koschitzke initially spent match simulation with the Yellow side, which was mainly made up of fringe Tigers and a handful of VFL-listed players.
Morris said Koschitzke is “absolutely” pushing for a Round 1 berth in defence.
“Kozi is one of those players where we know what he’s going to give us up forward, but we want to find out whether there’s something more that we might be missing down back,” he said.
“With Noah missing the first part of the season, it’s important that we’ve got some insurance there (in defence), and Kozi’s putting his front foot forward.
“I’m looking forward to seeing his progression down back in our group of backs over the coming weeks.”
With Josh Gibcus (knee), Noah Balta (suspension) and Tylar Young (knee) out of action to start the season, there is a wide-open window of opportunity for the former Hawthorn forward.
Koschitzke was named at full back in the 2018 U18 All-Australian side.
