Maybe he comes in next week if MRJ bombs

Not unhappy with any of the omissions but lmao @them all being either new players or kids. Yze still too scared to make a real statement and drop some of the clearly past it and underperforming premiership heroes...so much for not dwelling on past glories. :shh

He’s not the one I am thinking of.
I am starting to wonder if Yze is a bit of a puppet for those who have been there for a while.
There’s 3 premiership players whom are not doing enough and have zero upside….

Judging by Yze’s presser today we are basically giving a bunch of players the farewell tour and blooding young talent along the way. This is a team that’s trying to win, not rebuild and then other weeks we might have a bunch of the older guys sitting out. I suspect by halfway through the season we will be seeing a lot more of the younger guys playing ( hopefully )

I think the mix of old vs new is right. You can’t have too many new faces in a new system or it collapses.

Backline we have young and gibcus, mid we have dow and technically baker because he’s playing more mid?

Forward we have Campbell and Balta (not a seasoned forward)

They need to slot with our other players for them to grow in their positions

Yep that's what I took out of the presser as well

Just relieved we've addressed the top heaviness that was part of our 1st half downfall

You don't do farewell tours unless it's for blokes that still have a role that a young bloke can't fill eg Jack Riewoldt.

Absolutely disgraceful some of these blokes are playing seniors tomorrow

If you get down to the nitty gritty its not as though there are players banging on the door to get into seniors. Hopefully in a couple of weeks there are, but not atm.

Yep looks like Balta will play 2nd ruck, as long as Lynch is in.

Cumberland completely decimated Collingwood in the 2nd half of the VFL game the other week and I just witnessed Pickett look like a lost puppy while playing forward yet again. Like what's the point?

Senior players with no future played shockers worthy of being omitted. Kids who may have a future should get a look in over a few of them

Don't think Mansell should come straight in.

Dow not dropped is shocking given his effort.

I can understand Dow not being dropped.

We want the kids played, that's what people on here keep saying. We give the kid another go, back him to turn it around and there's complaints

Reckon he needs a run of games to see if he will make it

I’m not sold on any of them really but we need to give them the chance.

Banks, brown, sonsie & clarke were all taken in the same 2021 draft with picks inside the top30. Time to see if we got any players out of them.

I think that is exactly why we made so few changes after an interstate trip followed by a 5 day break ...

Dow is the least of our problems. Broad, Grimes and McIntosh had to be dropped. Move Balta back and keep Naishsmith

Going by that is Campbell now going to be the sub.  Laughable if the case.

What did Naismith do wrong to get the arse. He more than held his own against one of hardest tasks in the game when it comes to ruckmen.

My guess is with nank available and captain he has to come back and Balta offers flexibility with Ruck D50/F50

We were far too top heavy last week and slow

We played Naismith, Ryan, Balta and Koschitzke. Granted

Whether you agree or not as soon it was clear Nank was available Naismith was in trouble

Balta as a chop out in the ruck worked, was one of the reasons for the turn around in the 3rd

Disappointed for Naismith but in no way surprised

Was OK, but we miss Nank's presence around the contest, he's so much better than either Ryan or Naismith when the ball hits the ground. Nank averages more than 4.5 clearances off his own bat, 4+ very aggressive tackles and takes marks around the ground. Naismith had 1 mark (uncontested) last week - no real aerial presence.  Plus, Nank is the club captain, it's silly to think he's going to be second string to someone else in Round 1.

Naismith was useless.

Nank needs to play

Naismith is obviously just the back up ruck and it’s easy to justify as he probably costs nothing.

Balta to pinch hit is perfect to me

Absolutely.

Ryan I understand but Naismith should play too. Nank is under done.

Senior players should have been dropped before Banks. We need to put games into the younger players to see if they can make it rather than taking the soft option of selecting players who are quite frankly well past their prime. Our failure to plan for the future is deeply concerning. I hope Mansell lives up to the hype about him over the break.
