Title: Punters corner / DC's 5 star system
Post by: DallasCrane on October 20, 2006, 12:26:40 AM
I would like to exclusively reveal the results of my patented 5 star system for this years Caulfield Cup to you lucky OER viewers. The 5 star system has famously tipped the Exacta of the 2004 Caul Cup and famously tipped Makybe Diva to win her 3 Melbourne Cups.

This system is 100% guaranteed*, totally foolproof* and is devised using the latest computer technology**

Here are the results:
1st: Growl   :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
2nd: Pop Rock   :lol :lol :lol :lol
3rd: Imperial Stride   :lol :lol :lol :lol
4th: Sphenophyta   :lol :lol :lol :lol

* I cannot back up these claims with any evidence
** I checked the form on the caulfield website

Anyone else got any tips for the cup?

If they put the blinkers back on next start, load up.
They took blinkers off today and horse wouldnt go straight the entire run home.

Oops.

I might rename my system "The Danny Frawley 5 star system"

If anyone knows of a system that picked that trifecta, please let me know!!!

I had Activation going  to win a lazy $1000 yesterday!!!

Half way down the straight i was about to start lining up to collect my money.

Had a few other nice collects. All in all, wasnt a bad day.

Cox Plate Day is set to be a big one also  ;)

Bella Princess in the last was a good run, had 20 each way. It was paying $23 to win. Paid 5.90 the place so still got a bit of a collect.

Yeah pretty good system Jackstar.

I used it for the first time in NSW about 12 mths ago and even though I didn't get one, I thought 'gee this is ok'

It lets you speculate a bit more on longshots, which is good during the Spring Carnival, because you get some fields that are all class, anything can win it really. I'd rather have 10% of something than 0% of a lot of money. See the First4 or whatever its called paid $444 grand. I'd take 1% of that!

I had Activation going  to win a lazy $1000 yesterday!!!

Half way down the straight i was about to start lining up to collect my money.

Bad luck on that one Bull. I didn't have it in any of my combinations, but I thought it was clear with 100-150 to go, at least it gave you a 'run for your money'!!

I included it in a couple of small running doubles, I didn't see the run, but going by the papers today, it looked like it made up a fair bit of ground in the closing stages.
If it was all over the place like you said, if De Lago Mist gets a jockey that can steer her straight then I'll put some more on her.

Finished 5th, 2 1/2 lengths off the winner, was 10th at the 400m mark, and the horse that finished 10th was 8 1/4 lengths off.

She made up 6 lengths down the straight, I'll be keeping an eye out for sure.

Post by: cub on March 31, 2007, 08:47:25 AM
Any punters out there in oer land place your bets hot tips here.

This week as posted in main board I have had 60 straight out the win at 2.20 on the Tigers to cover my 40 at 8.25 at 39.5 +

As for the nags

Moonee Valley

Race 7 No 11 Star Rose - Nice e/w odds - shouldn't lose on that one.

Rosehill - Hard to read the slipper but have to have a go.

Zizou

and one that could pay ok e/way Cecconi  :thumbsup

NB: I hope that was counterfeit money you put on the dees last night quagmire. :whistle

NB: I hope that was counterfeit money you put on the dees last night quagmire. :whistle

Luckily I didn't get to the tote on time coz I was running late for my cricket association awards!  :whistle

I like Deferential for the Slipper, but if anyone used my '5 star system' for the Caulfield Cup last year, they will know not to follow my advice.  ::)

Anyone been studying the form for the Dubai races tonight? I see Pop Rock is running and paying about $5, however they are all $6.5 million dollar races so all the horses over there must be class.
Pompeii Ruler is a fair chance tonight, but I wont be backing it as I think it's odds will be under being an aussie horse and all.

Backed the saints last nite no cigar there. Meant to say the Demons,

Have backed Meurice in the slipper.
I too have backed Star Rose at the Valley.
De Lago Mist in adelaide,
N. Ryan in the SA Jockey challenge. 2.70 is great odds
And Backed the Kangaroos today

Clubs treat punters like mugs - bookie
04 April 2007   Herald-Sun
Damian Barrett

RICHMOND'S listing of an injured Nathan Brown in its weekend team was another example of the double standards that applied to AFL wagering, according to a leading bookmaker.

Lasseters Sports' Gerard Daffy said the Brown selection, the late withdrawals of West Coast's Dean Cox and Andrew Embley, and a mistake by an umpire in the Kangaroos-Collingwood game unnecessarily adversely affected bookmakers and punters.

"We've had integrity rammed down own our throats by the AFL since year dot, but it's not a one-way street, this integrity thing," Daffy said.

"They're wanting us to provide open access to all accounts and there is legislation going through parliament in Victoria that will require agencies to pay for the rights to field on football played in that state.

"That's fine, provided some protection comes back to us and the punter.

"We are entitled to feel aggrieved. They take the cash out of the game (about $2 million a year through deals with bookie agencies), the AFL, but offer nothing in return."

The AFL's chief commercial officer Gillon McLachlan said current rules did protect punters and bookmakers.

"Football teams can make changes right up until 40 minutes before the game, and West Coast lodged its team list when it was required to, and when it did, it didn't bring anyone (in from) outside the 25," McLachlan said.

"If people want to bet on football, they know these rules . . . if you are worried about changes, don't bet until the last 40 minutes.

"We are running a football competition for our football supporters, and the rules are designed to ensure the best and fittest players take the field each game."

Daffy said bookmakers and punters were left vulnerable by clubs deliberately listing unavailable players.

"Richmond named Brown in the team to play on the weekend, yet on the same day the Herald Sun's back page was an article saying he would be out of action for a while," Daffy said. "What would have happened if the Herald Sun hadn't ascertained that information?

"Embley and Cox were named in the (Eagles) team but no one expected them to play given the weight of money that came for the Swans -- they were backed off the map.

"Now while that was a good result for bookmakers in the end, we were left wide open."

For anyone who seen the Doncaster today, it was a fantastic win by Heradasun.

Looked like Divine Madonna was going to swamp it with about 100m to go but Heradasun dug deep and found a little extra. Fantastic Horse with a very bright future. :thumbsup

Phew. Glad you mentioned "horse" at the end. I had a vision of Madonna swamping Pat Morita.

Being a non-gambler, I might be tempted this week to put a few hard-earned on the tiges. I've heard Coll $1.65 - Rich $2.10.
Does that sound right? Can't actually find the odds.

Then again Bulldogs on the rebound, the odds just may be tooooo tempting.

Sportsbet have got Gehrig at $67 to win the Coleman Medal.

Sure 29 goals isn't a great return for him at this stage of the season but he is really only one big bag away from taking the lead.....admittedly so are quite a few others, that one just stood out to me a little bit though.

Bombers on Friday night lads.
Geelong due for a loss. Well they have won 8 in a row
Hird playing his 250th. Sheeds and Hird will have the Bombers revved up.
I can see another Bomber win by less than a goal.
With Lloyd rubbed out all signs point to a Cats mauling but I just think the fairy
tale for Hirdy will come true on Friday night as it generally does.
$3.35 at the TAB I will have a go at that.

Terrible news, the industry keeps a lot of people in work. And it provides a lot of enjoyment for a lot of people. The only happy ones will be the anti-racing animal libbers. Actually one other plus is that you guys may not have to endure my 5 star tipping system this year.

It also makes me wonder whether I will invest my $19.95 on the millers guide this year, hmmm.

I'm really stuck for the Cox Plate this year, the Turnbull really confused me, Devil Moon was a great run, but will he she be Ok after the Caulfield Cup, Haradasun's race in the Turnbull was OK, considering he was worked hard from the outside gate and was trapped 3 wide for the whole race, Miss Finland is just a great mare.
Anyway, I'm confused, anyone wish to post their thoughts on the Cox Plate this year?

Miss Finland for mine but that's only because she's a top racehorse and class normally wins the Cox Plate.

Here's the odds for the Cox Plate btw

3.80 Miss Finland
5.00 Haradasun
6.00 El Segundo, Devil Moon
9.00 Efficient
13.0 Marasco
14.0 Divine Madonna
22.0 Zipping
31.0 Eskimo Queen
35.0 Lad of the Manor
41.0 Niconero, Wonderful World
101.0 Magic Cape

Had a day out on the punt today.

Picked 7 of the 10 races today.

Got the quaddie also  :thumbsup

I am celebrating the win as we speak.

As for Luke Nolen's ride on El Segundo, it was a 10/10.

I knew going out of the straight for the first time that he was home. Generally sits back a bit further but was midfield today and won with ease. Great ride and training performance.

didnt someone pay 1.8 million for the pillar.

Well thats what you get when you disrespect the greeks and call a horse Hercules instead of Iraklis. If they called it properly the prick may have won.

Princess coup is a special....light weight, good barrier draw and I watched it in the caulfield cup and it was just picking up steam in the last 300m.  :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

DC,

I think tomorrow looms as a bit of a favourites day.

My best of the day at this stage would be

Race 3 No 7 Extend, was scratched yesterday to run this race

Race 8 No 13 Completion, both happen to be Rogerson horses. Completion was a good thing beaten on Cup day and should prove too good if he gets a good run at them.

Also hard to go past Miss Andretti, but it will be very short and I think i might take on Weekend Hussler with Wonderful World.

Thanks Bull.
I was just reading about Completion in the paper, certainly worth some serious consideration.

I wouldn't be taking on Weekend Hussler myself...

Did anyone have a go at Sydney yesterday?

I did, had a shocker, I backed Von Costa straight out for a win, I was already doing my sums when it was flying home, didn't see the Waterhouse nag on the inside  :banghead
