The sooner we forget some of these names the better. Thanks Telstra Bogpond!! we don't need to be reminded of our past recruiting failures.
-
LOL tiga. Damn I missed it. It looks like they've fixed the profiles up now.
Do any of the links on the flash news work for anyone? It keeps returning back to the mainpage for me when I click on any of the news items ???

Take out Cambo, Cameron and a couple of others and there's almost a whole AFL list's worth of Spud's duds. Just frightening and no wonder we needed to rebuild basically from scratch :scream.
-
It really is pooh isn't it
Yeah it is and it is not like you can contact them .........
Becausethere is no "Contact Us" area on the new upgraded site ::)

LOL every email address suddenly disappearing off the RFC site after the doggies thumping last year.
-
It's now totally devoid of any character.
Cardboard cutout, corporate AFL/Telstra crap.
Did I mention I hate it?!

Yes according to the website we only have Matthew Knights as a past player.
Slightly off the subject, Mini Me emailed the club a couple of weeks ago for a school assignment asking for some of the players favourite foods and recipes. To date she's received no reply. To make matters worse, one of the other girls in her class emailed the Lions and got a prompt reply.
-
The site is totally up the creek.
I go to the players list - get error message
Go to the membership section - get error message
Really good timing to have your membership page down at this time of the year :banghead

Hate to be negative but thats just typical at richmond I hate to say.
The website issue is a disgrace.
Surely the club would realise that the website is highly important communication tool. talking about tools, no i wont go there

This is not Richmond's fault mate.
Blame Telstra, they're the ones updating all the sites. . .
-
Just checked a few other clubs websites, they seem fine but more importantly up to date.
I have had some experience with websites and you will find that the IT person at richmond would be able to change things on a daily basis,eg he would be able to update topics and add topics , interviews etc. from his desk at punt road.
Basically, all clubs maintain there own websites you will find.
If you dont beleive me, ask William Powell and Mightiges on how they maintain this website. ;)

I agree.
The club's been better at the off field stuff the past two years, but the new website is a shambles. >:(
I wonder if Steven Wright's health issues have coincided with us dropping the ball here as he's made a huge difference to the professionalism of the club in such matters since his appointment.
Not good enough RFC.

I'm getting timeout error messages on both the RFC and AFL sites and none of the links go to the articles ???.
Granted it's a beta version but good old Telstra. You would have thought they wouldn't wait until just 3 weeks before the start of the season before "upgrading" the official site of the AFL. Total stuff up ::).

The general look of all these Telstra sites is the same. I'm guessing there's a link to text files in the source code and the IT person at each club just changes what is in these text files rather than altering the actual source code. If they do fiddle with the actual source code then it'd be cutting and pasting chunks of code around. Otherwise the club IT person could just come up with his/her own design and code provided they have all the Telstra advertising.
For example, Telstra love using 1kb blank images to separate items on the site instead of using HTML code that is designed for that purpose. Now a 1kb image is nothing on its own but if you have a page with a hundred or two in the source code, and that's before you add actual pics, flash and video in as well, then no wonder it is the slowest and most user unfriendly website on the net. A total joke for a professional sporting organisation like the AFL.
-
Probably planned by someone in India who knows nothing about the AFL anyway
-
Where's the current injury list on the RFC site? You click on injury news and it gives you the Swans injuries ???.
Also as mentioned on BF the EOTT section is now hidden away in a dark corner of the site ..... click on community -> tigers in the community -> eye of the tiger :P

How are the Pies allowed to offer their fans video content for FREE? ???

Why haven't they had to take the site upgrade?
If the version they are using is still available, I'd be upgrading back to the that version rather than sticking with this "new' version which is more like a downgrade than upgrade :help :chuck
But I am pleased to report that there is now a contact us section - so the Club can take all those complaints about bad the new version actually is ;D
-
A direct link to EOTT has finally been added on the RFC site.
-
There was an article in the HUN earleir in the Vic saying the majority of the Clubs are not happy with the new Telstra sites and it's content.
it seems since Sportal were given the stuff and the majority of the content is coming from the new mob who are based in Sydney there's been major issues with what stories get loaded and that even the clubs are now having trouble loading there own stories.
Luckiest club in all of this is obviously Essendon because they still stand alone :whistle
I think there's a lesson in there for all AFL clubs in the future :help :help
-
And we've got these crappy embarrassing sites for another 5(?) years :banghead. It's not like the AFL and the clubs didn't know how pathetic these Telstra sites are before going with them again ::) and what a real club website (Essendon's) should be like.
-
What's wrong with the RFC site? I can get on then it says it's down ???
-
does anyone know a website where you can put your best squad and muck around with it ???
not a dream team ... just putting players in spots ???

Say that again Mopsy. I can get on now but it is all screwed up :scream.

Well done to the AFL for making the new sites incompatible with the Linux Mozilla browser. I've used it for 10 years no probs but now I have to press ESC before any of the AFL sites finish loading otherwise it goes blank white ??? :banghead.

Kennett attacks AFL website
Sarah-Jane Collins | June 7, 2007 | The Age
HAWTHORN president Jeff Kennett has slammed the AFL website for poor service and regular crashes. The outspoken former premier said if the problems continued it was unlikely clubs would want to remain a part of the website.
"We're very disappointed and highly concerned about the quality of the site," Kennett said. "These concerns were raised with the AFL at the beginning of the season and now we're almost halfway through and we still find it has not been fixed.
"I think a lot of clubs will be reviewing their arrangements. We can't afford to have our members so badly serviced."

A real official RFC site that services all its members. We can only dream :pray.
-
Is anyone else finding the Flash scripts aren't working properly on the RFC and AFL websites?
-
I dont even try the telstra bigpond site anymore.
Its gotten worse.
The last upgrade they did was comical.
Typifies their overall service as a company really - bad to worse

It's not too hard is it.
The RFC is apparently going to revamp the official site in the next month but as it's a Telstra site I won't be holding my breath.

It is far too good :rollin :rollin
Totally wasted on Telstra :banghead

lol ... good one

I wish they hurry up with the revamp of the RFC site. One moment things don't load and then they do, images not loading at all, etc.. :P

The player page is a mess too. Might be why they did such a crap job with the thumbnails since the new page doesn't seem to have thumbnails so they will not be needed.

Because.......
they can :banghead :banghead

Why did they change it to a new page that is stuffed ???
Because leaving it would have made sense. We're talking Telstra here people.
I especially like that when you do actually select the player, the photo on the players bio page, which looked fine on the old page, is now streched and pixelated. Classy. lol.
Anyone for a fat Lids?

RROFO that is woeful! Looks to me like they've got the work experience kiddies on the case. Maybe where you finish on the ladder determines how much HTTP TLC they put towards a clubs site. :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
How embarrassment! lol
At least the club can pretend the players have bulked up :lol.
I can't even get it to download. Just get a black panel with a green circle going round and round :P.
Looking at the source page OMG. Talk about making something so simple so messy and complicated ::).
-
Just to compare the basketcase that is the RFC official site with say EPL club official sites. As a West Ham member overseas (let alone in East London) you get radio coverage of all games and if you're willing to upgrade you can watch full games live over the net provided you have broadband of course. It can be any broadband ISP though; not hijacked by Telstra ::). Liverpool's official site apparently offers the full works for around 100 pounds. The Telstra sites are so far behind it ain't funny and the RFC site is arguably the worst of the worst.
