Title: Non Tiger games
Post by: mightytiges on March 30, 2007, 10:37:57 PM
Sheesh the Dees were soft. Costly night as well losing McLean with a broken foot and Whelan.

Lyon has the Saints playing like the Swans starving the opposition to death. Fiora is still a dud though lol.

Post by: Jackstar on March 31, 2007, 07:38:10 AM
All Fiora does is zone off his direct oppponent and gets uncontested possesions.
Side of his game that really lets him down is his poor kicking at goal.Hasnt got the poise, tends to rush his kicks
Title: Re: Non Tiger games
Post by: mightytiges on March 31, 2007, 04:18:26 PM
Everyone is saying Fiora played well because he got 20+ possies but with most of those he did a "Richmond" and they bounced 5m away from a leading teammate or went straight to the opposition.

Anyone following the Pies v Roos game. Battle for the wooden spoon. Some real Benny Hill stuff. Neon Davis running right over the ball near goal was hilarious  :rollin.

Pies won :banghead

Although I picked them  :thumbsup
Title: Re: Non Tiger games
Post by: mightytiges on March 31, 2007, 04:49:32 PM
I picked them too  :thumbsup. LOL @ Shannon Grant  ;D

Laidley won't survive this loss. Spud mark II. Sure North didn't kick straight but all that early training over summer to get fit and they can't run out a game after 3/4 time for the second time this year. He also failed to make any changes once plan A wasn't working.

Bloody Pies fans will think they are premiership material now :banghead

I wouldn't want to buy real estate off the ump that paid that 50m to Grant btw. The man on the mark should have been on the goal line. Still no excuse for hitting the post from 10m out  :lol.

2 from 5 now  :P

So much for the Hawks being this young up and coming dreamteam lol. Just 3 goals up to halfway through the final quarter. I didn't see any of it but everyone on BF is saying it was the worst game of footy ever. Funny stuff seeing cocky Hawk supporters eating their own tonight over there :rollin.

We've got the Swans next week coming off another heartbreaking loss to the Eagles.

Hopefully, Adelaide will come from behind like most teams this weekend

The Lions still rely massively on Brown, Black and Power who'll all be gone by 2011  ;). No better way for a youngster to learn than around those senior superstars.

Wirrpunda has topped Russell Robertson for goal of the year. Tackled on the boundary, off balance and grubbers it through Daicos style from 30m out :o.

The bubble has finally burst at Princes Park after they were pumped up for last week against us.

Sheesh whatever is in the water down in Geelong is doing wonders for their father-son production line. They've almost got a team full of them.

I think Geelong looked awesome last night, they are still hot and cold though and it really depends on which team turns up on the day.

Bombers continue their good form, must have some good spy's around the traps doing their forward scouting.

Stuffed up my tipping.

Hird was their top possession getter. What are they going to do next year without him. Same with Michael and Fletcher who are nearing the end. Big holes in the Essendon defence. Even so Fev still kicked 8. Dons still far too reliant on their old premiership players although by topping up Sheeds may get a new contract  ;).

Hate to say it but out of the big 4 in Victoria right now Carlton would be favoured to win a flag first. Pagan is a top coach especially with developing young players. The Blues are coming along nicely.

Another win by an interstate club over a Vic club. The top 4 looks like being all interstaters. The Vic clubs are too up and down and just make up the numbers come September.

Rodan had another good game for Port too.

Watched a bit of the Bombers/Saints.

Bombers looked really good.

Easier game for them in the dry at the dome compared to the Pies in the wet.

Could prove a factor seeing they only have a 4 day break.

Bombers good chance to win their next 4  :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

Some classic Fiora tonight. 3 mistakes in the space of a minute  :lol. He actually has been pretty good for the Saints this year collecting uncontested possessions but he's no loss to us.

The Blues bubble has well and truly burst again. Stevens has left a massive hole. Back down to 14th on the ladder. They were lucky to get us round 1 with all our injuries at the time. They are a young side like us but once again the journos will be eating their words saying they are player by player better than us.

Title: Re: Non Tiger games
Post by: mightytiges on May 05, 2007, 04:47:53 PM
Franklin has kicked 9 including 5 in the second quarter against poor McPhee who had no idea. You've got ask why it took Sheeds 4 goals before making a change and why he got Michael for in the PSD if he and Fletcher aren't for the main opposition forwards. Essendon are in big trouble. Their top 4 possession getters were again their oldies - Hird, Johnson, Peverill and McVeigh. Stanton is about the only young Bomber coming through who consistently performs well. Hmmm someone wouldn't just top up their list to get another contract  ;).
Title: Re: Non Tiger games
Post by: mightytiges on May 12, 2007, 12:10:28 AM
The Roos are just an average side individually but right now they are working as a team that only we at Richmond could wish for. Shows you don't have to be a team of superstars to do the critical run hard with and without the footy, play in front at all times and all the other 1%ers. Wells doing his medial ligament will be a big loss for the Roos though when they play the top sides.

Sounds as though Hirdy will miss a few too with another hammy. Just going from bad to worse for the Bombers. If Lucas or Stanton cop a injury they'll be totally stuffed.

Agree Fiora was lucky not suffer a serious neck injury

What I also noticed is St Kilda have copied a long time Richmond game plan but substituing one part of it.

The Saints have employed the following:

Kick it to Nick as opposed to "kick it to Richo"

 :rollin :rollin

Seriously how bad ar ethe over rated Saints ;D

The Saints have heaps of injuries but lol WP you're right. I hope the umps are that Riewoldt friendly with our Jack.

At quarter time today I was hoping Blues were on their way to an upset win so they'd be closer to not getting a priority pick but the Crows have blown them out fo the water in the 2nd quarter.

Sheeds wouldn't leave Essendon anyway and this year again confirms it.

Last year the Bombers couldn't finish off any of the close games they had like us this year yet this year they've won 3 straight to turn their season around. Great win by them tonight. Amazing what happens when you have all your best players playing at the top of their game. 15 players tonight from their 2003 list plus Michael and Camporeale. Only kids were Stanton (4th year), Ryder, Monfries, Davey and Slattery. Funny how a team made up of mostly kids is expected by some to do the same at Richmond  ::).

Still let's see how the Dons are going in 2-3 years time when all those experienced players are gone or nearing the end. Having so many older players might win them close games now but Essendon are going to have to find virtually a whole spine in that space of time and with poorer draft picks if they finish up high on the ladder.

Well done to Hayden Kennedy too. 400 games is an great effort.

Without saying too much, you might find a whole new footy dept at punt road next year. ;)

Exactly MT - Why cant certain people see that all they are achieving is 'nothing at all' ...
Give it the 5 years then let the Board, which the majority of members (smart one's) voted for, decide from there which direction to take.

Exactly how many changes could we have made in just 2 years .... Hawthorn have shown how quick things can turn and with a few more draft picks and the 20 year olds getting experience under their belts, things could well be on track at the end of year 5.

If people really love the club I think it best Ego's and personal agendas be stowed away for a couple of years, not to long in the context of the path we have travelled the past 25 years.

Fighting and biatching amounst yourselves does no good at all, just take a look at  the Aints  ...

Comentators called Rodan the best transfer of 2007 - big call I reckon - still runs around like a scared rabbit and missed a shot from 25 metres. Good luck to him though he's a good bloke.

Maybe we could do with him and Ottens at the centre bounce ? anyone?

Port 70 points up at 3/4 time. This could blow out to 100 points the way it's going.

Essendon struggling again on a big ground where they get exposed for pace ;).

Early in the game? It was 70 points at 3/4 time lol.

Port switched off in the last quarter like they did against us. I thought Richmond are the only ones deluding themselves  ::). Hird has an off day and Essendon crumbles. Hmmm guess who won't be playing for them next year. And people wonder why interstate clubs dominate. They don't believe their own BS like Victorian clubs do that's why ::). Only have 4 more games left on smaller grounds (Dome) for the Dons. Good sides don't end up 70 points down at 3/4 time ;).

Gray and Westhoff are good finds for Port. Both have done well as goalscorers since they've come into the Port side over the last month despite Port's poor form. I'm surprised they were treated with no respect today.

If you can get a hard tag on Hird you can beat them every time - it takes another Gun to do it though - like Cornes.

Always thought that - this one could bite us.

Actually I reckon it shows that it can take longer than 12 months to get over a knee reco. They say for some it's 12 months and then another season of actual playing before you get back to your best perhaps Rodan is one of those  :-\

Yep as WP said he's done really well at Port. No probs about that with me. Like Torney he didn't walk out. His time was up at Punt Rd and it was better for him to try elsewhere where he wasn't expected to be a first tier player.

Anyway a nice diversion as to why the Essendon coaching staff paid no respect to  young KPP Westhoff who is averaging 3 goals a game and another kid in Gray who had 5 scoring shots the previous week and looks a real find for Port.

I'm not that happy Jack. I knew Port were after Westhoff nearly 3 months before the draft. Where were the Victorian club scouts?! As I said interstate clubs are way ahead of the Vics.

Port supporters in SA also rate Adam Cockshell 19 yo 199 cm 102 kg forward from Norwood and Justin Westhoff from Centrals 19, 197/84.

If they can win against Sydney without some of there better players out, they nearly deserve to play finals footy anyway.
Have seen a lot of the pies this year and they are a very good ""team""
Last night, no Clement, R. Shaw, Medhurst,Buckley, Presti, and still too good.
Title: Re: Non Tiger games

Malthouse won it in the coaching box. The Pies lack class but like under Hafey in the late 70s-early 80s they are so disciplined as individuals and as a team. They out-Sydneyed Sydney. Flooded the corridor and strangled the Swans. Barry Hall is so out of form it's ain't funny. Butterfingers at the moment.

Speaking of upsets. The Saints are 4 goals up over the Eagles at Subi nearing half-time  :o. Kosi is having a blinder.

It just goes to show that it doesnt matter how much experience you have, if you are committed to the cause then you can do anything.

Disasterous night for the Bombers. Hird doing a hammy/calf, Davey arm injury and then Fletcher and McVeigh stupidly getting themselves reported. Geelong sure made them pay too in the last quarter with more fresh men. The Cats look the real deal. Not the pure attacking frontrunners of the late 80s to mid 90s.

Good on Rama btw  :clapping. At least he getting through the game and Hislop doing a couple of impressive things on debut are positives for the Dons.

True  :lol but losing key players through injury and suspension will only make it certain. They have 8 wins with only 3 games left at the Dome. As we saw tonight the bombers couldn't cope with Geelong's quicks and that will be exposed further on the bigger grounds. The finals could even be in doubt now.

We may be able to put the final nail in their coffin in Rd 21, looking at their draw they have some tough matches ahead of them.

Hird is a huge loss for them as he would be leading their B&F and is a very influential player.

Rd 21 is certainly a game they will need to win in order to make the finals.

If we only win one more this year, please let it be against the Bombers so that we knock them out of the finals race  :thumbsup

Essendon is the team i hate the most, always has been and always will be.

I grew up in the Northern Suburbs and a high % of my friends are Essendon supporters, also went through school in the 80's which as we know wasnt a great time for us.

During this time i developed a strong hatred for the Bombers which will remain with me forver  :lol

To say that the Bombers arent any good means you have little idea about football. :rollin
The Bombers are probably a 6-10 team on the ladder, nothing more ,nothing less.

West Coast looking really wobbly after losing two in a row at home to the lowly Lions.
Despite this I still think they will win the flag. They had a mid season slump last year and recovered. Their current slump reminds me of Brisbane in 2003 when they had injuries poor form and even a qualifying final loss to the Pies before they romped it in to win the flag. I am almost inclined to think this is the best time to plonk some money on them now that they are looking vulnerable.

Useless being premiers in July, that's why I just can't pick a winner at the moment.  Still think the Dogs and a couple of others might have something up their sleeves and haven't written off W/C either.  Long way to go.  Injuries, or lack of them, will play a big part because I reckon the teams up the top are pretty even in quality and a few could win it.

There i was tonight thinking for the first time in more than 2 decades that i would finally see a decent team in yellow and black out on the park and yes they turned to poo as well. The best team in Australia, the WCE put on the yellow and black or was it gold and black and they became just as bad as we were. Someone has to call a royal commission into the colors. Why does everything in yellow and black have to play like poo.

Port has pumped the Eagles by 91 points :o. Made them look like witches hats all day. With all the talk of recruiting, Westhoff is an example of Vic clubs like ours not putting in the resources to do their homework. It wasn't as though he was hidden away. Picked up late around pick 56 and in just six games has kicked 18 goals already.

Judd shouldn't be playing. He's not right. You've got to wonder how much effect Cousins playing/not playing has had on West Coast. They've gone downhill since Cousins has comeback to the club.

The Pies lost too. Always a good day when that happens  ;D.

Melbourne - they should know if Sheeds is available to coach them in 2008 :rollin

Sheeds at Melbourne?

Which game?

Melb and Essendon will lose next week (neither a big game?)

I'm confused (but that isn't unusual)

sorry t-rob my warped sense of humour....

Jack's saying it's a big game for the Bummers

You asked for who

I said Melbounre because they are looking for a coach and Sheeds if he doesn't get the Bummers into the finals he will be looking for a job  :thumbsup

Watch out Cats!

the bulldogs model cannot win a premiership. its the wallace model, we need to change the philosophies of how we wanna play footy at Richmond.

Can tell you, that the Terry model is based on the Bulldogs model.
Bulldogs have too many "" lightweights""
RFC has recruited too many lightweights.
People will start to realise sooner than later I hope.

Will Schofield looked very good last night, have liked him since last year and really impressed me again last night

From my mock draft last year

Quote
58. Richmond - Will Schofield
Style like: Will Thursfield
My Ranking: 47

Athletic full-back from Geelong Falcons who is very similar to our Thirsty. Tried to combine school footy with TAC cup and as a result has little exposed form. His physical attributes are also very similar. Very athletic and mobile, and looks to be a natural defender. Great closing speed, competitive and a knack of getting a fist in to spoil. Also quite a versatile player and has also shown an ability to play further up the ground on a wing or up forward. Drafting Schofield, will mean than we have full back and CHB sown up. This will also free up Thursfield to play that utility defender role, lining up on talls and smalls.

No big key forwards hurt the dogs.  Not a problem when they are dominating out of the middle and can hit Johnson, Murphy, Aker and co lace out and score quickly but when under pressure they are forced short and wide and their scoring dries up. They can't kick long to a contest in their forward line as there's no one to take a contested mark or bring the ball down and hold it inside 50.

The Cats are doing a job on Freo so far btw. Looks like they'll make it 12 straight wins with us lucky 13 next week :P

You can get excited after round 22 Jack. The game was at the smaller Dome ;). Luck falling the Bombers way again this year with Jordan Lewis getting himself reported today against the Roos and Crawf and Buddy injured. The Hawks are looking very shakey with just 1 win in the past month and that was only against us.

Port are the smokeys in the comp. Top 4 and travelling under the radar.

Brent Harvey for the brownlow  :shh

What a great last 5 minutes. Saved one of the worse games ever.

It's always amusing how when a game looks gone players suddenly say stuff the gameplan and go the short way home after spending all night going short sideways missing targets left, right and centre. How about that 75m torp by Gram straight in Riewoldt arms running back with the ball NFL style.

At the bounce yesterday and spotted this and knew it was heading towards disaster and pointed it out to my Hawks following mate before it happened.  8)

When Motlop nailed the goal to put them 1 point down with 47 seconds left I watched Roughy run all the way down to full back to act as a spare man with most of the other Hawks players.  And there was Chaplin standing all alone on the defensive side of the wings not knowing what to do until the Port bench yelled to him to sprint to the offensive side.  So he did and stood as a loose man at the ball up on the corner of the centre square while Roughy stood by himself in the "hole."  After Brogan's thump it was on its way to him already so I think Brogan knew exactly what he was doing with direction of the punch, Chaplin got the possession, was by himself and on the 50 and bombed it long to Ebert.

Goal.  Winners.

Sometimes the flood doesnt pay off . . . .

By the Hawks telling Roughy to not worry about his man Port had a spare to quickly work out how best to use him.  They did it.

Very very smart team play by Port Adelaide.

Our form line can't be too bad going by last night's game and our game against the Eagles at Subi. The Eagles after being 28 points down at quarter time just killed the Saints who totally died off after half-time tonight. Whoever plays on Gehrig (Joel?) next week is going to have to copy Glass and run Fraser up the ground and off his feet.

Fiora is still Fiora even if he's had a good year. Disappears under pressure.

Your a bit harsh on Fiona arent you. He has played every game for the saints this year and he actually plays an important part at the saints. Not his fault he got drafted where he did.
Did some great stuff last night, yes he did have a bad turnover but if you attend Richmond games, you would be used to seeing turnovers

Yeah maybe I am a bit harsh but that turnover summed Fiora up. It wasn't that he turned it over, it was just such a lazy kick in defence at a crucial stage of the game. No intensity when the game is up for grabs. Mind you he had plenty of mates in Saint jumpers.
