Title: Why Kingsley may play this week
Post by: mightytiges on May 21, 2007, 05:30:11 PM
Kingsley always has played his best games against the Bombers. He's averaged 3.6 goals, 13 possies and 5.6 marks and kicked 3.2, 3.2, 7.0, 2.0, 6.3, 4.2 in his last 6 games against them since 2002.

Also as Ox pointed out in another thread, we may go with Kingsley to add experience up forward in the absence of Richo.

Be prepared to be outraged Thursday night if Kingsley is brought in lol.

I won't be! I think he is the perfect replacement for Richo, although it would be good to see Schulz with a bit of space in the f50.

Guilty until proven innocent, so it seems.
I hope he gets a chance to defend himself soon.

I don't like Kent, just my opinion. Just doesn't impress me. On the weekend he may have kicked a bag but they were all gift goals that he didn't have to work for.

Also him playing would be a complete contradiction to where we want to be. Playing him would just set back the development of another tall  >:(

Jack and Kentleigh to come in.

that would be my question as well, watching the Burgers vs Tassie game was vindication for me.

Tom Collier played a super game down back, and he could be at punt road, but then we choose Kent   :P

I think Kent should definately come in. We do need an older, wiser, and more experienced player to help Reiwoldt, Schulz and Hughes. They will need him there just for presence sake! If he kicks a few goals then great. If he doesn't the younger forwards will walk taller around him just because he's there. It's a win win situation.

Kingsley playing forward will get Mal Michael. Schulz/Hughes will probably get the Fletcher making it easier for Reiwoldt to debut.

One player being Hughes or Schulz will miss out, but thats ok, they will get another opertunity sooner rather than later.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he plays. The facts are he is experienced and I like crackertiger's thinking about him being in the team means he will mostly like get Michael and who cares if doesn't kick a goal especially if that frees up young Jack to kick 5 or 8  ;D

Sarge toweled up Michael, whose to say Jack can't  ;)

I like crackertiger's thinking as well. Fletcher is playing more a zoning off role this year similar to Joel. If Michael takes the bigger bodied Kingsley that would mean Fletcher to Schulz and Jack would then get the third Essendon defender.
Title: Kingsley not ruled in or out - Paul Armstrong
Post by: one-eyed on May 23, 2007, 04:56:14 AM
The Tigers last night said the inclusion of Riewoldt would not preclude the selection of former Geelong forward Kent Kingsley, who kicked five goals in the VFL last weekend.

"We haven't had final selection, but I wouldn't rule Kent out yet. That's not to say he's playing, but the decision hasn't been made yet," Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong said.

disagree

Kent baby worked hard to make space and find himself with no opponent

Go Kent!

Kent did not work hard at all for those goals, as I said they were all gifted.

His first goal came in the goal square after he conned the umpire into giving him a 50m penalty.

His next couple of goals all came off the hard work of Jack and Mullins.

A full-forward's job description is to kick goals. If he has only 5 kicks and kicks 5 goals he has done his job.
He is there to finish off the hard work done by the players up the ground.

I agree fish, look at Fevola, Riewoldt and lately Hall. Posession figures in the low to mid teens yet still bagging 4 to 6 goals on average. I'm not going to bag the guy before he is given a chance. Obviously the club sees something in him. I'm hoping Kent gets a run so we can see what he is capable of in the 1's before I pass judgement.
Good luck Kent! Kick some Bomber Butt!  :thumbsup

Will Kent be playing in 2011 ::)

I doubt he will make it pass this year so what is the point of giving a game to someone who isn't going to get us to a premiership. Cannot see the logic

What did we all think of Kingsley first game in Y&B?

9 kicks, 3 handballs, 8 marks, 2 behinds.

Kent never really had my support but when he coughed up the ball to Davey which resulted in a goal just absolutely pi$$ed me off

yeah he had some turnovers but who in the RFC didn't/doesn't  ;D

In all seriousness I thought he did OK because I reckon he did  what we needed him to do and that is he took a defender away from Richo which meant that Richo didn't have 2 or 3 on him when he went for every mark - IMHO that was a win for us

l'm glad someone else seen that Kingsley did drag the other defender away & it gave Richo a chance
when Shultz is in the side he always wants to fly with Richo & IMPO they dont work well together

As WP said Kingsley did his job as a second forward. He took the second defender away, kept presenting and stayed out of Richo's way. Our young forwards need to learn that. Don't take your opponent to a 1-on-1 contest to make it 2-on-2.

ot to agree with this.

Although he obviously has no real balls,he manages to do as above.

I wouldn't want our kids to take too much off of him but he knows how to get the ball down forward and seemingly sneak it off to gain another 25.

He's just such a wimpy dude for his size ::)

Bluey, you qualified your biased response by the statement in the first part of your sentence. It was pure magic that got Davey the ball not a stuff up from Kingsley. His handpass was direct and quick. Davey was just that bit quicker. If you want to look at crap disposal by hand on the night that would make your blood boil, you need to look no further than one Shane Tuck.  :banghead

I thought he was good, quite servicable on the HF line, would've liked to see him get a bit more hungry, though that is understandable in your first game for your new club.

Did enough to keep his spot imo.

Kingsley did alright against Essendon but the past two games :P. Supporters might get their way after the break as Clever was the better of the two today.

Actually from sitting high in the stands at Subi - Kingsley did again what he is supposed to do and that is take the 2nd defender enabling Richo to be one on one.

Gave good decoy leads and even some that should have been honoured (hello Danile Jackson in the last I am talking about you :-\)

Gave a ripper handball off to pettifer who wasn't looking and should have been - sometimes I reckon his reactions are too way to quick and sharp for some of our blokes  :whistle ;D
