Title: Richmond vs Brisbane matchday thread
Post by: one-eyed on June 02, 2007, 04:18:57 AM
Luke Power is officially out with a thigh injury which helps us.

The Lions have brought all three emergencies to Melbourne — Scott Harding, Joel Macdonald and Cameron Wood — with Harding most likely to be called up.

The match committee will now decide whether to attempt to exploit Richmond's lack of height and go with Wood or back Jamie Charman to win his share of the hitouts and opt for an extra running player.

Richmond assistant coach David King said the Lions clearly planned to play a running game.

"I see their changes have been built on the Telstra Dome-style of football with speed, there's no doubt about that," King said.

"They've put something in place to curb the Telstra Dome factor.

"It's not really a problem for us. We just need to get over there and perform. At 0-9, it's not about what other teams are doing, it's about what we're doing."

Wallace on SEN (non-browny talk)

* Top level lions are brilliant but like us they've got 14 players with less than 50 games.

* We've got confidence in the way we play from the past couple of weeks. Just need to hold onto the ball when we're a couple of goals in front. We kicked too often to 50/50 contests last week.

* We were where Melbourne is now with 9 players 30+ years (Herald-Sun today). We weren't going any further with these older players like of Gas and Kellaway. When we moved them on underneath them were 19-20 years.

Well - a draw.  Better than a loss I guess :-\

Schultz needs to be dropped.  Useless.  Same with Johnson - too many turnovers.  Pettifer redeemed himself with that last goal.  Gee we played some dumb football :banghead  Tambling one of our best on ground.

Does a draw avoid pants down?

That was really painful to watch.  Our skills are woeful.  Sack the skills coaches.  Did you hear the commentators make note that since the introduction of goal kicking coaches, actual goal kicking has been worse.  Even Richo said on On the Couch that he doubts if guys will be able to kick 100 goals in a game.  Or is that more due to the meddling of the rules by the AFL?

the amount of turnovers was absolutely laughable. Gave the draw to the lions on a silver platter.

we are poo, they (brisbane) are poo, everyone was poo, we are going for picks, wallace is in trouble if he thinks the boards gonna cop that rubbish we saw in the first half, the supporters were booing not because we were getting beaten but because of the poo style we play.

Correct.
Its only a matter of time till Wallace is shown the door.
If anyone on this website thinks that kicking the ball backwards 20 metres is acceptable, you have rocks in your head.
The game plan is disgraceful.
Tonite was a absolute disgrace.
And lets dont bring at the captains name please. ::)

We didn't get the match up here but channel 10 showed the last couple of minutes. Oh I mean mistakes.  And by our fearless leader. I think it really is time, as he's is a joke, and I think he should fall on his own sword and do the team thing. Give up the captains job and give it to someone who can pick a team member out when kicking the ball. Kane Johnson is a total :wallywink :wallywink :wallywink

All in favour put your hands up.

BTW, Johnson was talking on 3AW after the match and was actually happy with the 2 points.  :banghead

We need a new leader who will accept nothing but a win

The game plan is disgraceful.
Everytime they do that I scream "NOOOOOO!!!!".  Didn't Frawley introduce that into the gameplan?
