It's the Heritage Round this week. Theme this year is Football in the 1970's.
According to Mero we're wearing the same as the last two years with the printed laces. Perhaps the only change is yellow instead of the gold of the 1980's we wore last year.
2006 Heritage guernsey

love the old tiger logo.
-
So long as it's not that horrible stripey thingy that looks like Hawthorn.
-
Here's Mero's pic of the heritage guernseys from BF - .

Looks like we won't even have the printed fake laces this year and we'll just be wearing our normal guernsey ???
-
yeah ... our 1980's logo was good ...
does anyone have the 1990's logo after the 1980's one and our current one ???

thanks "mightytiges" ... thats the one i was after ... the 1989 one ... i used to have that ... but i lost it at school ... and i cried ... (grade 4) ... i still remember that day ... look everywhere ...
how funny does the 1981 logo look ... the tiger looks gay or just weird !!! ...
yeah i like the 1980 one ...
should we change out logo ??? hasn't since a premiership ...
1970's has ...
1981's would of ...
1989 ... that was the bad years ... so thats probably why we changed it to the current one ...
and this one hasn't done much too ...
where did you find the 1989 logo from anyway ???
thanks again mannn ...
i don't rate the heritage jumper ...
i liked the first 2 we had ...
the 2004 i liked the most ...

this is the best to this day.
The Jolimont Tigers.
-
Not 100% sure but we are probably going to be wearing yellow shorts this week as well unless there's a late change of plans. With thanks to Mero.
-
Let's hope there's a late change of plans, :)

Richmond
The guernsey has remained unchanged, but the team will wear bright yellow shorts as worn in the '70s.

I guess seeing is believing so we will have to wait until Sunday to see those yellow shorts.
Oh well beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I agree with Torch our 2004 that was our best Heritage guernsey and also Julzqld that 2003 monstrosity was by far our worst.
By the way my favourite tiger logo was the cica 1980 one. By far the best logo we have had.
It must also be noted that since the Heritage Week has been introduced in 2003 we have not won in Heritage week.
Anyway here is a reminder

Maybe it's a ploy to put Norf off their game.
Maybe North players have a phobia towards canaries.

Who'll ever forget Nathan Burke's 300th :scream.
In the Pies one we came from 5 goals down in the last quarter to hit the front only for a Maggie one game wonder to pinch the game with 30 seconds to go.
-
Yes it was David King no not our assistant coach and it was less than 30 seconds may have been less than 10 seconds. Remember Richo and Houlihan missing sitters in the last quarter in that one.
Nathan Burkes last game that awful game in 03 when the Saints flogged us in Heritage Round. Fleming gave Riewoldt a beauty in that game and we wore those awful guernseys.
-
Yep the Nathan Burke one was our home game at the Dome ::) but it was also a nominated members game for cocky Saints supporters as part of their Tassie deal at the time which made it even more unbearable :banghead.

Well in those shorts under the lights of the Dome they won't be able to hide :P. The RFC might as well get out 22 canary yellow stackhats to complete the set ;D.

You've got to be joking :gobdrop

They are grouse man - what r u people on about.
-
Hey I remember in 1998 we couldn't win our away games in the white shorts except for the Adelaide one. If in future wearing yellow shorts in away games means we win I am for it regardless of how ridiculous it looks.
Its very very bright and eyecatching. As I mentioned yesterday beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Wonder how the yellow shorts would look with our away guernsey and would the club be willing to wear them with it when we play Essendon in Round 21 :shh

yeah i don't mind them !

Yes indeed dee :gobdrop :gobdrop
Actually do tend to agree with HT74 - would think with our clash strip the yellow shorts would work a bit better than white ones.
Saddest thing it is our home game and even back in the 70's we wore black shorts for home games. If we were the away team then OKi Doki but not as the home team
-
There's a picture of Rainesy and Joel in the yellow shorts on the RFC website.
The first instance of Richmond wearing yellow shorts can be traced back to May 24, 1975 – co-incidentally against North Melbourne, at Arden Street.
The Richmond team that donned the yellow shorts for the first time, in Round 8 of the 1975 season, was (in alphabetical order): Gareth Andrews, Neil Balme, Kevin Bartlett, Francis Bourke, idiot Clay, David Cloke, Daryl Cumming, Merv Keane, Robert Lamb, Eric Leech, Craig McKellar, Kevin Morris, Billy Nettlefold, John Pitura, Neville Roberts, Kevin Sheedy, Paul Sproule, Ian Stewart, Steve Taubert, Bryan Wood.
The quarter-by-quarter match details were:
Richmond: 1.4 5.9 8.9 9.12 (66)
North Melb: 2.2 3.2 7.5 11.8 (74)

Judging by that One-eyed we will have a commanding lead in a low scoring game at half time. Still lead at 3 quarter time and get run over to eventually lose.
The more I see them the more I like the yellow shorts. They would definentely look better with our away jumper.

Thanks for that one-eyed! I was certain that I had footy cards with some of our players wearing yellow shorts.
For some reason I thought we wore them longer than stated. I did get to a lot of games that year and I was at Arden St on that first day we wore them. Went with family friends who were North supporters and they had a good chuckle at our expense. Almost "hurled me Hutton's" when the boys ran out! :chuck The drive home was even more painful because North won and I was in a car full of North supporters.

Did you quote the final score of the 1974 GF tiga to shut them up? ;D
What's that old Angels song .... Our future shorts are so bright I've got wear shades.
-
So what did we all think of the yellow shorts - Yeah or Neah?
