Looks like low scoring finals again this year :-\.
Tough stuff though. I hope the Tiges are watching it especially our cubs to see the level of footy they need to get to.
Cousins with "such is life" across his stomach has done a bad hammy. Reckon he's gone for the season.
-
Gripping Second Half.
W Coast up by 24.
Port surge to go 7 up
Poor Cornes turnover brings Eagles back to 1 point with 3 mins to go.
Ebert drops a sitter whilst the Power are running the clock down.
Nevertheless Port successfully hold on and get a home Prelim final.
Just a close hard fought game of finals footy. How I hope my beloved Tigers
can experience the euphoria of this soon.
Eagles in deep injury poo. If they draw the Swans next week may be gawn for 07.
Port Adelaide 9 14 68
West Coast 9 11 65
-
Yep the Eagles are stuffed. No Kerr, Cousins, Hansen plus a lame Judd. Even if they hobble to a win at Subi next week they won't make it past the PFs.
Gawd I hope the Swans win tonight. I couldn't stand the Pies making a Prelim and the feral skunks gloating :chuck

I am sure Freo would have a big say in that dud contest :lol
-
There's only one great theme song :thumbsup
Hawks and Crows game is going down to the wire as well. Game of swinging momenta. The Crows build a couple goal lead and then Hawthorn bridges the gap. Franklin has 5.
-
Franklin kicks 7 including the winner with 10 seconds to go.
Hawthorn 15 15 105
Adelaide 15 12 102
Hawthorn to play the loser of the Geelong Kangaroos clash.
Adelaide = mothballs for 2007
-
Great start to this year's finals series. Two games decided by just 3 points.
Grant Thomas has just given Neil Craig a massive spray over his coaching especially leaving Massie on Franklin all day.
Interesting that the clubs that have played underdone and injured stars have lost so far. Judd last night and Riccuito today. You can't do that anymore.
-
Grant Thomas should just keep his mouth shut. :banghead
On a serious note the end of an era at the Crows
Mark Ricciuto just played his last game. A great player
1 Premiership
1 Brownlow Medal
Adelaide Cpatain
B & F's
A class act.
-
And Riccuito only missed out on another premiership due to injury.
Bloody Pies in front :scream.
-
Bloody Pies won MT. :banghead :banghead
Scumwood 18 17 125
Sydney 13 9 87
The premiership race is down to 6.
As much as it pains me to mention this Scum are a real chance
on Friday in Perth when you take into account injuries to key
personnel in Eagles line up.
-
The Pies won't get past the Cats even if they beat the wounded Eagles. At least they'll end up with crappy draft picks for finishing high up the ladder ;).
The Pussies are giving the Roos a hiding. 49 points up with 26 scoring shots to 7 :o.
-
Eagles up by 3 points at half-time. Good of Wakelin and Clement to pass it to Eagles 30m out from goal ;D.
-
FULL TIME
10.12 72 a piece
Time on 2 x 5 min
C'mon Eagles
-
Bloody Pies :banghead
Geelong will be happy though. Getting Collingwood after a trip to Perth and extra time.
-
Maybe so MT but history presents us with something else to ponder.
Cast our minds back to Prelim final week 1980.
Geelong v Collingwood
Geelong finished on top in 1980. Same this year
Collingwood had won 2 sudden death finals to get there. Same this year
Collingwood beat reigning premier Carlton in the semi. Beat reigning Premier this year.
Saturday September 20 1980
Collingwood 13 15 93 def Geelong 13 11 89
More history though I am drawing from a very long bow
A Collingwood win next week would probably be as big as Carlton's defeat of Essendon in the Prelim of 1999. Here we go
Essendon won 18 games to finish on top. Same as Geelong this year
Carlton finished in 6th spot that year. Same as Collingwood this year
Carlton beat W Coast to get to the Prelim. Collingwood have done the same
Just to add some more spice to it and give it that eerieness of de ja vu
If Parramatta beat the Bulldogs in the NRL semi they will take on Melbourne in the Prelim just like in 1999 the year the Storm won the NRL.
Having said all that the Cats will wallop the Pies next week but coming up with this did make my mind wander and I deduced that I have too much time on my hands thinking about our great game and hoping I get to live finals euphoria once again in the near future. :thumbsup

You're giving us all nightmares with those footy facts HT74 :help :lol
At least we all remember what happened to the Pies after their last upset Prelim win over the Cats ;D :thumbsup
-
Another close final tonight. Hawks a one man band ;).
Jesse Smith has looked really good for the Roos. 25 possies.

They're all barracking for the Hawks except for Blight ::). Whinging about 50m to Harvey when you can't push a player in the back after a player has taken a mark.

Could not happen to a nicer team those suspensions. :woohoo :ROTFL :stupid
Just saw on Channel 9 Friday nites prelim final due to the colour clash
Pies will be wearing their traditional home strip with black shorts
Cats will be in their hooped guernsey with white shorts.
Other than wanting the Cats to win for obvious reasons
here's another Hellenic Tiger tidbit of history that might repeat
1994 was the last year where a final finished level and went into extra time.
The Roos defeated the Hawks that day. The Roos went on to lose to the Cats after the siren when Garry Ablett kick a goal to put the Cats six points up and into the big one.
The Pies won in extra time and are meeting Geelong as we all know.
Wonder what odds I'd get on scores being level and Garry Ablett kicking the game breaking score after the siren?
If it does happen another heartbreaking loss for the Pies :lol
Q. What do pregnant women and Collingwood Footy Club have in common?
A. They usually drop their bundle in the 9th month.

Make for an enjoyable day if that happened to the Pies ;D
-
I hope history repeats HT74 and Ablett kicks the winner after the siren. A bit too close for Geelong at half-time.
-
Oh what a shame ;D. Collingwood losing by less than a kick with the ball in their forward line :lol.

Well ultimately Ablett's goal was the one that got the Cats over the line MT.
As Good as Gary is, Nathan just is abit lost at this level I feel.
As for the Pies losing fantastic. :lol
As for the clock losing 6 seconds at the end with Medhurst taking the shot instead of Rocca and the ump having no idea what was going on. :stupid
As for the ball being in the pies forward line on the siren. :woohoo
As for Eddie having a sook post match on Channel 7 while Malthouse was adressing the team.

Good old Puff Puff. The most overrated player in the comp. Always goes missing when it counts. He didn't look too disappointed not being able to take his kick either ;).
Speaking of going missing, the Roos did against Port. Usually one top 4 side tumbles out of the Eight the following year and my early tip is it'll be the Roos. They are alot like we were in 2001 and had a similar finals campaign. Two mass floggings against the eventually Grand Finalists with a gutsy grinding win in between.
-
Well if the Roos remind you of us in 2001 heres hoping
that Hawthorn, the team that the Roos had a gutsy win in the finals over
will win the wooden spoon next year ala Carlton in 2001. :lol
So much for that Shinboner Spirit. Where was it in the 3rd quarter.
Shinboner Spirit is sightings of the Loch Ness Monster or UFOs. Some people think have had genuine sightings of it but really it turs out to be an awful hoax.
Good riddance to them. Characterless and faceless.
As for Anthony Rocca yes I agree totally overrated just like Rusling. Did not want to have that kick could not handle the pressure of it at all although Medhurst quickest sprint of the night was getting close enough to Rocca to take the kick once Rocca thought it was too hard :scream.
If a player in Collingwood jumper takes a mark in the forward 50 with an opponent within 20 metres of him then the Scumwood faithful will think they have the new Royce Hart or Wayne Carey on their hands. Does anyone remember Andrew Tranquilli? :whistle :lol

;D
Or even Hawthorn 2001 will do ;). Thompson and Hay were going to lead them to a flag and getting within 9 points of the Bombers.
LOL @ Andrew Tranquilli.
