Not getting ahead (trying real hard) of myself here, but this is a huge game coming up for the Tiges.
Hate is a term I really hesitate to use, but I hate carltank and skunks and I know some here Hate Norf.
Been a while since we have played them in our backyard, like I said huge game - Discuss :gotigers
-
1. Lets not get too ahead of ourselves.
2.Anyway we will have 10 day break North 6 but it still may amount to anything even though North are playing on the harder underfoot surface of Telstra Dome.
3. North have been a bogey team to us over the years. From Round 2 1990 when Longmire kicked 12 and they flogged us by 141 to Finals 95 when the beat us to Round 22 96 when their last quarter burst prevented us from Finals Footy. Plus the McCartney and Martyn matches in 02 and 03.
4. They are a characterless footy club. Characterless fans characterless players like the whole lot of them were made with the same mould. We are a powerhouse of the league in terms of fans and finances and that should equate to us being a better footy team on field. We should be destroying clubs like the Kangaroos on field as we did in 1974 when they thought they were good enough to take on the Big Boys and fell way way short. Last thing I would want to see is some characterless, Nobody, insecure with himself and his footy club player Like Corey Jones, Daniel Harris, Scott McMahon have a day out high fiving other nobodies and like minded characterless dorks in blue and white.
5. In order to not see these dorks have a day out we need to match them in intensity, tackle and contest hard, be fierce on the ball, use the ball effectivelly skillfully and distribute cleanly as well as make the correct decisions at the appropriate times as it will not be easy. However it can be done as the Roos are vulnerable and the team most likely from the top 4 from last year to fall out of the top 8.Remember they were 0-3 and below us on the ladder and 3 round into 2007. Reminds me of us in 01 when we would win it would be narrowly and when we would lose it would be heavily. Any small decrease in impetus and they could go tumbling down the ladder as those narrow wins they had last year will equate to narrow losses and in a year where they are trying to cement a future in Melbourne (again) :lol this could be very grave on the 2009 membership and survival guide. Let's hope they fail abysmally and the AFL pull the pin on these morons. :pray
6. For me personally it will be great and I will be two thirds of the way there to seeing my dream start come to fruition against the teams I hate more than any others.
1. Carlscum
2. Can you lend me some spare change in the Roos
3. Skunks.
-
i am pretty sure the last time we played them at the g we beat them,
we can win this game if we play 4 quarters as we played the 2nd half yesterday.
we just have to keep playing to our strengths and keep focused
-
My memory is obviously not the best, but for what it's worth last 2 games at the G
Round 11, 10 Jun 2006 MCG Richmond defeats North Melbourne 102-67
Round 21, 24 Aug 2001 MCG Richmond defeats North Melbourne 92-88
All other 5 games in between at Turd Dome all losses :pray

can we win it..............yes we can

Foley on the RFC website says they aren't getting too excited
As his coach had done straight after the win, Foley was quick to shoot down any hype surrounding the victory, preferring to quickly soak up the moment before looking ahead to his team’s next challenge –North Melbourne after a lengthy 10-day break.
“It is nice to be able to have the win and move on to next week,” he said.
“It’s a good, solid feeling that hopefully can build up some confidence … we’ll remain calm and not get too excited.”

Remember it well. I was sitting in the Olympic Stand and it was so foggy and cold that day the Great Southern Stand was so obscure through the fog. Remember Danny Meyer's goal right foot snap from the boundary line in the left forward pocket at the Punt Rd End near the end of the game.

Yeah geez it was dark and apart from Nathan Thompson and maybe Wells we won every match-up.
The 2001 game was Richo kicking 1.6 with the "1" being the winning goal lol.
I'm just glad it's at the 'G and not a "home" game at the Dome. And being early in the season North don't have a retiring champion or milestone game to pump themselves up. If we beat North I have a good feeling we'll start the season with 3 wins :thumbsup.

Who do you ppls think will come in for Sugar?
Any other changes?
-
Edwards and Polo for Kane and Howat
It will probably be Tiv and Hyde though :(
-
better not be tiv, anyone but tiv
-
Edwards for Kane I reckon.
David King made it sound like Polo isnt quite recovered from that shoulder injury yet.
-
Ditto. Edwards in for Sugar. Apart from that we'll probably stick to the same winning combination.
-
I reckon Cogs will come in for Kane.
By all reports has played well for Coburg and is ready to play senior footy again.
-

Maybe but he didnt play at all for Coburg on the weekend.
-
If Coghlan didn't play on the weekend what is his injury? I understood that only Meyer and Cotchin were unavailable.
-
I have an idea, play one short.
This will make everyone accountable for there actions from here on.

By punishing the team as a whole and stopping a kid(we hope) from getting a run. . .
Im not sure I get your logic. :-\
-
Edwards for Johnson
No other changes for mine.
Polo & Cogs need more match time
-
Edwards or Hyde
-
They look a bit slow norf - Essendon did it with pace, r we fast enough, do we bring in someone with speed Hyde or edwards to expose them after a 6 day break. mmmmm
Make sure we shut em down up forward
Thompson - Bowden
Edwards - King
Grant - ? (suggestions) maybe alternate someone with Kingy ?
Schulz and Polak to float back and fill the hole.
Should do the trick
-

I agree Norf are as slow as trickle.
-
Both North and the Bummers were crap today. If we can keep the skills ok and maintain the intensity we showed in the second half against Carlton neither of these teams should cause us much of a problem. Of course if we go back to playing like the first half against Carlton then we will be beaten and deserve to be 16th.
-
Yep the Roos run off their half-back line was no existent today. They looked slow and lumbering and lacking in fitness given the way they were blown away in the second half. We have the speed but we need to back up our skills from the second half against Carlton.
We love Kingy CUB but he might be a tad vertically challenged for Edwards ;D.
Thompson - Bowden
Edwards - Thursty
Petrie - Schulz
Grant - Raines
Jones - Moore
Thomas - King
This is the side North had today:
FB: S.Thompson Firrito Watt
HB: Pratt Gibson Wells
C: Simpson Harris Swallow
HF: Grant Jones Thomas
FF: Petrie N.Thompson Edwards
Foll: McIntosh Rawlings Harvey
Int: S.Power, Hale, Campbell, Harding
Edit: forgot Kel
-
Johnson --- Morton
Howat --- Edwards
NO HYDE OR TIVENDALE
-
As much as supporters will scream blue murder, if Tivs was one of our best at Coburg then I'm guessing he's going to be in line to replace Howat if Cam is suspended.

By the way, facts are as folllows
FEV wasnt charged by Police, Kane was.
Kane is a leader/captain at the club, Fev will never be captain of Carlton.
And, why would our captain be out that late drinking anyway ::) :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers

the only fact that cant be questioned is that you take more pleasure in kicking the RFC instead of supporting it.
You are a disgrace. :chuck
-
Me a disgrace, wouldnt think so,
I dont go peeing on Police Station walls
And I dont disobey team rules
Whats a disgrace, people who think his behavior is ok, thats a disgrace.
Just reminder you that he is suppose to be an elite sportsperson after 1 game has been charged with being drunk.
I wonder how drunk he was to be locked up for 4 hours :banghead
Reminder you also about 2006 B & F, total embrassment for the club
Kicking the wrong way in first game in 2007 ::) ::)
And furthermore, I will kick anyone I like.
You seem to have great pleasure in kicking me.

In . Blaisee. Out . Johnson
-
Whats a disgrace, people who think his behavior is ok, thats a disgrace.
Which people supported his behaviour?
-
In . Blaisee. Out . Johnson
Does Blaisee run hard, does he know how to create space, does he have enough pace to create problems for Laidley? These are the key questions at Punt Rd that need to be answered this week. Will Blaisee run out on the weekend and will Jacko be there in the grandstand ready, willing and able to deliver blistering assessments of his performance, or will Jacko just take pot shots from the cheap seats. Be there or be square...dont miss out on this once in a lifetime comedy show. ;D
-
I am there. problem is the property steward is still trying to find shorts and jumper to fit Blaisee :lol

I have said this a couple of times - no excuse for what he did but struth is it the end of the world as we know it ??? Nope...
Do you honestly think he was the only player in the AFL who had one to many over the weekend ??? Nope...
Is he the only one who got caught ??? would seem YEP
I really do wonder if it had been any other player whether the reaction would be the same :whistle ???
Me thinks not

Depending if it was the club captain or not.
The captaincy is given to the best leader and to do the role effectively you need to be satisfied, in your own mind if you are worthy for the position.
The role of the captain is to lead the players, its an honour that carries responsibilities and expectations, and by extension, extra scrutiny.
Kane is the club captain, there lies the problem.

exactly WP, some people seem on intent taking the high moral ground..WOTP.
something about stones and glass houses.
did he stuff up...yep
is it embarrasing for him, the club etc...yep
i havent seen anywhere that people have condoned what he has done..no
if it was a player like richo would the same people baying for blood...no
ffs lets move on WE have a game to win..

Brilliant but NO.
Bring in Edwards i say. :thumbsup
-
Can tell you the club is week as pee.
Ideal opportunity to fix the culture at this club and they accept the players own penalty. please ::)
You wouldnt see James Hird, Nathan Buckley,Chris Grant, and even our past captains like Wayne Campbell,Matthew Knights peeing up against walls and being drunk late at night, nah!
-
I think Sugar was close to our best player last week. If people don't think we'll miss him against the Roos they are kidding themselves.
I'd bring in another hard body for Kane, likely Tivendale/Hyde with Whitey as a replacement for Cam Howat.
Edwards & Polo would be first choice normally but they need more run in their legs at the Burgers as does Connors.
Their time will come soon enough as injuries take their toll but they need to be match fit.
I want us to win this week, not given token games to younger players that aren't up and about.

I wonder how many of us have done the same thing at the WEE hours of the night.
Give him a break i actually think the location he done it was quite funny. Taking into account the police have been busting the Tigers a@$S over the pre season.
If bowden says it is Ok than so be it, he must have some respect within. :shh
-
Yeah, but its not about us.
The fact that he was drunk and locked up for 4 hours is more damaging than peeing I reckon.
-
From what i seen on Saturday at Princess Park, i would think Tiv would be a very strong chance to come into the team this week. Got plenty of the footy.
I would be very surprised if Polo comes in, i think he needs to work a bit harder before he gets a senior game.
-
Yeah, but its not about us.

Fair Call.
On the positive side of it hopefully the gate opens now for Edwards and he plays for the rest of the season.

The big question the selection panel have this week is where to play OER own Blaisee???

Read somewhere we are gate sharing this - WTF
We finally get our game at home "AT HOME" and we share the gate.
Roos have no supporters so get the much better deal from this, even if there is no return match - I don't get it, stoopid.
Well I have a memebership so they get no coin from mwah ..... LMAOPIZZOFFNORF NORF

maybe has something to do with the eureka game they want
and remember , millers heart and soul is a roo not a tiger

i reckon most around here seem to have colostomy bags, there has been plenty of nights that ive snuck down an alley way or behind a tree after having some sherbets, when the kettle starts boiling you have to go..the only thing the silly idiot did was pick the wrong wall to pee up against.
cogs+hammy soreness
cass+as above
polo+still concerns on his shoulder
edwards and tivendale in i reckon.

Exactly would not give those characterless beggars one cent of my hard earned.
Hopefully we kill them on the field come Sundayand it quickens the process of their overall death off it. Norf ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Gve up 100,000,000 for 10 fans here in Melbourne. Tossers.
-
I would not call Tivendale nor Hyde a hard body to replace Kane.
At least play the kids. Edwards Polo White Morton Cogs to replace Kane and Cam.
Tivs and Hyde have run their race and we have fallen way short of the mark. They should not be considered at all except as a last resort if injuries have ravaged our squad.
Terry play the kids no point going on a youth policy if you play these old timers.

Edwards and Morton in for mine.
-
It'll probably be North's home game next year so we're better off sharing the gate now instead of a pro-Tiger crowd at an away game giving them a huge $$$ free kick.
Good test for us this week both physically and mentally. North are on the rebound and it's up to us not to be "satisfied" with just one first up win. With the Pies the week after who we have the wood on it's a huge opportunity on Sunday to start the year strongly.

I think they'll be the two coming in too.
To the Tigers unable to be chosen add Connors + hardly a preseason.

the Ins IMHO = Morton and Edwards

We eventually ran over the Tankers last week with pace and fitness. To achieve a similiar outcome against the Roos we will need to replace Johnson and Howart with midfielders to add to the bench rotations.
While I would love to see Morton in to play up either end I think this week a better inclusion would be Tiv and Hyde. Even though they are both maligned they have the experience, the Coburg good form and the stronger bodies to compete in the centre.
As the year progresses I would prefer to see players like Edwards, White, Polo, Connors, Casserly and Collins included over these two but at this stage I believe Tiv and Hyde will be the most likely choices.

Especially this week with North. The bigger bodies of the Roos will want to play tough and tight in close so if Polo's shoulder isnt 100% right for tackling it'll be exposed.

I agree with you in terms of what I personally would prefer but I still think you will find that Tiv is called up and Hyde particularly givien that Polo could be still injuried and Morton is not a typical running midfielder.
My choice for inclusions would be -
(1) Polo
(2) Morton
(3) Edwards
(4) White
(5) Cass
Clear space then Rance, Collard etc etc and then Hyde & Tiv.
But I think we will go with experience and size this week over potential.
Just my humble opinion of course :)

No Tivendale. 8)
Happy with those picks. Maintains the balance of the squad.
Edwards will return in no time.

Its not about improvement, its about team balance. He replaces Johnson as an older bodied mid to counter some of the North older mids. Polo is the replacement as the younger running type (Howat). We have kept the same balance as last week and (potentially) improved in ability/capacity (Johnson for Hyde - break even, Howat for Polo - win). All good, you can't just play the straight out best 22 - horses for courses. Picking Hyde actually says a lot about the frame of mind of the team - they now believe they are a genuine chance to win, as opposed to last year when it was much more focused on getting games into kids.

polo obviously set to take on a particular player.
horses for courses. ;)

Love this rain that is coming down. North have gone in tall so hopefully this rain continues and they struggle up forward.

it would be nice to even have one genuine kid in the team :(

Looks like it'll be bucketing down too when the game starts. The team that is first to the footy and keeps it simple and direct will win.

Right'o you lot I am back from Coral Bay after a week of fun only to find out poor old Kane has dropped himself and Howat has gone for 3 weeks. Never mind, is the anything else I should know without reading the last 3,000 posts??
-
Yeah, but its not about us.
The fact that he was drunk and locked up for 4 hours is more damaging than peeing I reckon.
Jack, people dont need to be completely legless to be locked up for 4hrs. It is the standard time for people who have had just a couple or even seen walking down the street with and open alcoholic beverage. I can tell you that from experience, Say what you want but that is fact.
Im more concerned that he was out that late and urinating on a police complex, surely he cant that stupid. Well Obviously he is and should step down as captain.

Carlton are still crap and Collingwood still choke :D
And it's going to be cold, wet and windy tomorrow so a bit different to Broome lol.

Simpson upbeat on Kangas
Glenn McFarlane | March 30, 2008
NORTH Melbourne captain Adam Simpson is confident the Kangaroos will bounce back in today's Eureka game, saying the absence of Richmond counterpart Kane Johnson could prove the difference between the teams.
"I really rate Kane as a player and as a leader - he does all the team things, so he will be missed," said Simpson, confident the Kangaroos will respond after their embarrassing fadeout against Essendon last week.
"We really need a win. Richmond work really hard and I know that they are a really fit team at the moment.

No changes at Richmond Darth - that's going by who lined up at Coburg yesterday :thumbsup
-
i don't care who is win to be honest.
bottom line is these are the games we normally lose. tough week been in the media, bla bla bla so how about 22 players come out and win this game.
i don't particulary like polo but who cares, if he pitches in with 2 then his job is done.
