Its not about improvement, its about team balance.  He replaces Johnson as an older bodied mid to counter some of the North older mids.  Polo is the replacement as the younger running type (Howat).  We have kept the same balance as last week and (potentially) improved in ability/capacity (Johnson for Hyde - break even, Howat for Polo - win).  All good, you can't just play the straight out best 22 - horses for courses.  Picking Hyde actually says a lot about the frame of mind of the team - they now believe they are a genuine chance to win, as opposed to last year when it was much more focused on getting games into kids.

Love this rain that is coming down. North have gone in tall so hopefully this rain continues and they struggle up forward.

Looks like it'll be bucketing down too when the game starts. The team that is first to the footy and keeps it simple and direct will win.

Right'o you lot I am back from Coral Bay after a week of fun only to find out poor old Kane has dropped himself and Howat has gone for 3 weeks. Never mind, is the anything else I should know without reading the last 3,000 posts??

Yeah, but its not about us.
The fact that he was drunk and locked up for 4 hours is more damaging than peeing I reckon.

Jack, people dont need to be completely legless to be locked up for 4hrs.  It is the standard time for people who have had just a couple or even seen walking down the street with and open alcoholic beverage.  I can tell you that from experience, Say what you want but that is fact.
Im more concerned that he was out that late and urinating on a police complex, surely he cant that stupid. Well Obviously he is and should step down as captain.

Simpson upbeat on Kangas
Glenn McFarlane | March 30, 2008

NORTH Melbourne captain Adam Simpson is confident the Kangaroos will bounce back in today's Eureka game, saying the absence of Richmond counterpart Kane Johnson could prove the difference between the teams.

"I really rate Kane as a player and as a leader - he does all the team things, so he will be missed," said Simpson, confident the Kangaroos will respond after their embarrassing fadeout against Essendon last week.

"We really need a win. Richmond work really hard and I know that they are a really fit team at the moment.

i don't care who is win to be honest.

bottom line is these are the games we normally lose. tough week been in the media, bla bla bla so how about 22 players come out and win this game.

i don't particulary like polo but who cares, if he pitches in with 2 then his job is done.
