How's My Trade Value: Kayne Pettifer
aflinsider.net
June 26th 2008
Player: Kayne Pettifer
Why their team should trade them:
The Tigers are not playing him, so it is time for Pettifer and the Tigers to start afresh. Pettifer still has the ability to kick goals and there should be a team out there that can use him as a secondary option up forward.
Which team would be a good fit:
Sydney can struggle to kick goals, if Hall and O'Loughlin are not firing, and they may have lost faith in Nick Davis so Pettifer could play in his role.
Similar trade in the past:
While it was just part of a package for Tarrant, the inclusion of Paul Medhurst in the trade to the Magpies is an example of a small forward wearing out a welcome at one club and being reinvented at another.
The Swans when they previously acquired Davis also had similar success.
Schneider is another small forward who has been traded in recent years, he and Dempster were worth a second round pick in the trade between Sydney and St Kilda.
Possible trade scenarios:
To Richmond: Tim Schmidt
To Sydney: Kayne Pettifer
To Richmond: Stephen Milne
To St Kilda: Kayne Pettifer
To Richmond: Jason Roe
To Brisbane: Kayne Pettifer

LMAO@MILNEANOTHERGUTLESSWONDER :lol
SERIOUSLY MAYBE WORTH A CHANCE IN A SIDE LIKE GEELONG HAWKS EVEN NORTH ADEL MAYBE PORT BRISBANE - TRYING TO THINK OF SIDES THAT WILL HAVE TOUGH PRIX AROUND HIM COZ HE IS WEAK.
COULD BE OK IF DOESN'T HAVE TO STAND UP - OUR SIDE ATM EVERYONE HAS TO STAND UP.
WHAT WE WOULD GET ? - GO FOR A DRAFT PICK WOULD BE MY GO
GEEZ I H8 IT WHEN I LEAVE CAPS LOCK ON ....... :rollin
-
Milne? I'll take pick no. 60 odd instead. Not that Petts is only worth a last round pick but,....... Milne?
-
l wouldnot pee on milne no thanks
-
You should check out some of his other trade suggestions....
Courtney Johns for Colin Sylvia....
:lol Now Sylvia ain't that flash, but Johns is terrible.
-
I would take Jason Roe for Petts, no worries
-
I'd rather have a pick than other clubs offcasts especially those :P.
-
I reckon we won't be big-scale clearing out as Terry's career is on the line, so best I reckon would be for an upgrade of a 1st or 2nd round pick. Given we'll probably be a bottom 5 side, I reckon it will be more likely we can upgrade our second pick by 5-10 places, depending on who's interested.

I think Meyer and Cass may get saved by Kel Moore's season.
Both are similar in the fact they cant get their bodies right
Both can play and i think they will get another chance to prove themselves.
I thought Meyer played well last week in the middle and he is impoving everyweek
I am tipping BOG this week!!
-
Does this AFLinsider have any credibility to deal ??
Petts for a 2nd or even 3rd rounder is very optimistic given that the trade market is trashed where higher traded draft picks (eg King to St. Kilda) do not have to be utilised. Anything less than pick 40 is now hypervalued with GC17 looming large in 09.
Milne a 30y.o one way pick pocket that goes missing during crucial games - a back pocket plumber has flushed bigger turds in his time.

Casserley is contracted until the end of 2009 anyway, so he's safe

We must keep Meyer untill the end of 09 at least.
Meyer and Connors on back flanks for Richmond by the end of the season, with Rance in between them.
-
should have been done last year.
-
Danny Meyer ::) you would have to be joking :banghead You want us to be in the bottom 8 for the next 10 years
-
Schmidt for Pettifer in a flash!! He's a good young player that is only being kept out of the Swans team by Kieran Jack's current excellent form. Has really good hands, deceptively quick and delivers well. Also has a good footy brain. :thumbsup
-
should have been done last year.
good point!!
he should have been offloaded last year but not at Punt road.
we will do the same with Meyer, JON, schulz and even Tambling.
we hold these players till they are worth NOTHING!!
in a strong draft we will be lucky to get pick 70 for pathetic pettifer
-
The draft isn't that strong, it's kinda like 2005
There is a strong group at the start, quite a few good talls, but it isn't that deep
-
i bid 5 cents for him

Spot on.
It doesn't mean you can't find a good player later on but it's thin and recruiters will earn their money by finding the best kids outside the top 10 or so. What will deter clubs from trading away early picks though is the new teams coming in and cleaning out the best kids from the next 4 drafts. This is the last untampered draft.

Is it just me or does Jackstar need a good root.

l think you will find that your wrong.
theres quite a good level of talent,lm sure clubs could quite easily pick up some very good players with later picks.
victoria has a very good amount of players this year, especially vic country sides.
as for petts leaving well lve heard brisbane might be interested ,and sherman may be trade bait.
also raines might be dangled in front of other clubs.
and jon may be part of any trading with the dockers.
-
Depends what you consider a late pick
In 2005 the top quality players went though to about pick 7 then only 54 players were taken
Compare that to 2006 where you were still getting quality players even into the mid 20s and 80 players were taken
The only reason it will go past pick 50ish this year is due to the compromised draft next year, but even then I doubt it will be anything close to 2006.
-
no recycled players.
get a draft pick.
any round draft pick.
-
i bid 5 cents for him
I'd offload him for free. Let him be a burden to some other poor team.
As for trading for Milne if that eventuated then that deal would be the icing on the Miller Cake of Catastrophe.
-
Seems Petts is playing as he knows his time is up at Punt Rd according to Rawlings' comments in EOTT:
"Kayne Pettifer - Played forward, midfield and back, but had little impact on the game."
-
Petts, Tiv and Hyde could all be worth something. If we can trade any of them for draft picks I say we do it because they are out the door regardless.

Tivers you have got to be joking....Hyde maybe???I think with his age there should be no reason why other clubs wouldn't pick him up...
the only way petts will get picked up, is if he is spotted by blaisee down commercial road.
no club will go near this dud..
-
We could couple Tiv with another player to increase our pick slighty......no you are right he isn't worth anything.
Hyde could be worth a 3rd round draft pick and Petts a second at a squeeze. I just hope we don't trade for any players ourselves. Warnock would be the only reluctant exception in my opinion.

You'd be lucky to get a half sucked mentos for Hyde and we've tried to find interest in Tivendale for years but no one ever is.
Pettifer may get us an upgrade on a pick, but that's about it. Perhaps we could upgrade our 3rd/4th rounder to a 2nd rounder for him.
-
Hyde and Tivs have no trade value and that's been for years. Petts will be 27 by the time next year's NAB Cup comes around :o but I think he may attract some minor interest given he was a top 10 pick and a club with a lot of hard nuts might tolerate a soft midsized forward with good foot skills or think we've done a crap job developing him or getting him aerobically fit. At least for a 4th round pick going by last year's trades or as infamy says a pick upgrade. Would a Sydney be interested? We were able to gain out of trading Fiora in a 3-way trade so I guess anything is still possible come trade week.
-
I'd be suprized if anyone traded for him... Will be in the PSD for free.
