Surely you can't bring Tivendale in. Anyone remember the four posessions of patheticness in his last match which ironically was against the Crows?
I hope Carteledge gets a run at Patto's expense.

You would think that if Cartledge has been named on the bench then he's been elevated and if we've paid the thousands required to have him elevated then why else would you unless he was going to play.

Silly things do happen at Punt road  though ::)

Watching (on TV) the way Simmo was limping as he came off the ground last week, I'm not surprised that they've gone for some insurance.

I'm with Infamy.  If we've named him then he's been promoted and if he's been promoted then he will be playing.  Unless as Jack hints at - we are playing silly b..gers - and when we try that we often tend to come unstuck.  And Muscles might also be on the money - he might be in for Simmonds - at least the ruck is not Adelaide's strong suit.

Tivs won't play. He wasn't in the group of 23 at the end of training that the coaches were talking too.

Cartledge is more insurance for Simmo as Muscles said. The rucks were training separately with Monkhurst and Simmo stopped in the middle of it to go over to the fitness coordinator about his left knee. He was doing some one-legged bends to test it out. After about 5-10 minutes he was back out with the main squad for the final drill.

I guess if Cartledge has been promoted they plan to keep him on the rookie rist next year. A way of keeping him at Coburg too.

They can't keep him on the rookie list next year, he's too old and played senior football before

Doh! I keep forgetting that with Cartledge  :-\. It's just strange to promote a rookie with just 4 weeks to go if we plan to delist him anyway.

Fair call on promoting Cartledge, has been very consistent all year for Coburg

You meant he's doing a great job didn't you daniel?!  ;) I don't think anyone believes he has been staring this season but he is filling a support role. If Cartledge was able to step up and be our No. 2 ruckman I would be more than happy with Patto taking a step back.

More than likely though Cartledge will come in for Simmo rather than Patto due to injury if he comes in at all.

Rance is named on the interchange bench at Coburg and he wasnt bad at all last week. Whats happening with him - is he in line for a game in the last 2 or 3 weeks of the season.

Goodwin didn't train today due to soreness although Craig said he'll play.

i dont understand why a rookie is elevate with 4 matches to go and then they name him as an emergency.

It costs the club money to elevate him.

Maybe there is a late change.

I reckon they're still not 100% sure about Simmo's knee.

Two quiet games for Morton but I would've thought we Browny back Mitch would've got the 3rd/4th best defender.

King obviously only stayed in the side to tag McLeod. Very very lucky.

I can't see Patto playing key forward. Plays to Adelaide's strength of rebounding off half-back once the ball hits the ground. That will mean either Richo or Schulz will need to play up forward. If Richo plays mostly forward then we know his knee isn't right either.

Its going to be wet in Adelaide all weekend we need another crumber in the fwd line.
Morton needs to stay in the side.

Sorry but Morton was rubbish against Geelong and has had a quiet couple of weeks
Still his first proper season after a few games here and there for West Coke, so no major issue for me with the decision

FFS, there goes much hope of a decent forward structure.  :banghead

You guys are unbelievable, Morton had 4 disposals against Brisbane and didn't get dropped, people were calling for Hughes head for the same thing.
He followed up with a worst on ground performance against Geelong where he was constantly lead to the ball by his opponent and was sent into defence just to get a touch.

Perfectly fine decision

So leaving McMahon in the side after last weeks disgraceful effort is perfectly fine too i guess?
Title: Re: Richmond Team vs. Adelaide
Post by: Infamy on August 09, 2008, 11:17:54 AM
Probably not, but he hasn't had consecutive poor games and despite what many say on here he's been consistently one of our better players this year. McMahon's game is directly impacted by the work rate of his team mates up field, he's our link man and if no one is working for him he has no one to link it to.

Give Morton a run on a half back stuff this week and he'd get 20 touches.
Title: Re: Richmond Team vs. Adelaide

Emg: Mitch Morton, Greg Tivendale, Tristan Cartledge
Cartledge and Tivs are playing for Coburg today. Simmo must be okay.

Morton must have travelled with the team over to Adelaide. If it's going to be wet maybe a late change of Morton for Patto?

Give Morton a run on a half back stuff this week and he'd get 20 touches.

And what would be the benefit of that for Mitch who should be a forward?   ::) ::)

Keep him up forward where you should grow to be a player for the rest of his career and learn how to play out of a lull.

No easy way out.  :banghead

Also from a team structure point of view we want him to play forward so we have a multiprone attack.

The weather report on the newses tonight still had showers and 13 degrees for Adelaide tomorrow. So the more I reckon we'll make a late change and bring Morton in with the ball spending more time at ground level in the wet.

Still some pretty heavy isolated shaowers coming accross by the look of this.

Forecast Showers and 13, think it may be a good idea to chuck Morts in the mix @ the expense of patto.
