a caller just rang sen saying he saw gary march having a "coffee" in richmond with one NATHAN BUCKLEY, lets see if this starts more speculation
-
SEN is allowing callers to go to air claiming a mate saw Gary March and Nathan Buckley having a coffee together ::)
-
i posted that in the malthouse thread, didnt think about starting a new thread .
anyway time will tell if this has legs or its just another elvis sighting
-
I would be worried if we weren't talking to potentials.
It's not going to please Wallace, but if he's lost the players and we go down on Sunday, he'll be gone.
-
I would be worried if we weren't talking to potentials.
Me too.
Preemptive strike is good.
I think Terry's should have to reapply for his job even if we make the 8.
-
thats normal procedure to look into the best options for the club when coaches are nearing the end of thier term
-
Exactly what you guys are saying. Would be very unprofessional with Wallaces contract up at the end of the year to leave it until then to start sounding out potentials.
-
from now on i have a feeling that every "winnable" game we lose could be the last last game wallace coaches. unfortunately for the club and himself he has dug a big whole for himself. rumours are spreading like wildfire, esp ones where the only players that respect wallace at the club are the senior group and he has lost all the younger group. if this is true, even though im against sacking a coach this way, we cannot keep him on ala frawely just to protect our image, the only reason spud wasnt sacked was because the club was trying to show all we have changed and dont sack coaches willy nilly. but keep on coaches for 4-5 yrs then getting rid of them is not really an eat your own mentality. realistically , the club gave spud and terry ample time to resurrect this club. both have failed.
so the big question is, do we stall time and do a spud and keep terry on even if the group has lost faith in him, or get a replacement immediately so the next coach can use the reast of this year to really assess our list .
if terry came in a year earlier im sure we would have been in a better state than we are.
big decisions to be made at punt road. but as its been previously stated, a loss to melbourne will be the end of wallace.
the media are loving this
i just wanna win and win well, we finished last year on a high note, what the eff has gone wrong :banghead :banghead

the club management need to find out if the coach has lost his players- if so they should sack Wallace on Monday and pay him out. We dont need this rubbish going on for weeks.

even though i am ,against sacking coaches mid year, if it is true that its only richo brown and sugar that support wallace the the rest have lost him, i agree with you ramps, its pointless wasting time like we did with danny . we should have sacked danny after that game at the dome where adelaide thumped us. something tell me the fact he was spat on that night saved his butt for that year
-
Buckley is purely being asked if he is interested in a assistant coaching role as a possible shake up
Royal, King, Mcrae, Rawlings Livingstone Condon are marked men & thats the first place to start
Wallace is coach yes, but its these who are in the sights of March's axe
Stay tuned Jackstar ;D

I hate reading a "friend of a friend told me posts", especially when it involves Terry Wallace so i apoligise in advance...... A friend of mine had a brother who played for Richmond and remains great mates with Dean Polo. He told me that the young guys feel as though they dont have the support of TW and that he lets certain players know that he does not rate them. The young guys play knowing that at any moment they could lose their place in the team as TW doesnt rate them and they play under added internal pressure to perform. In short TW has his favorites.I am almost ashamed to post this as i am always cynical of these rumours. If true it raises a lot questions like, why did he draft them in the first place?

I honestly think that no matter what happens Sunday this week or for the rest of the year we will not get rid of Terry.
We are going to make a change to the way thing use to happen. Like sacking a coach.
We will have stability for once in a long time with a coach,
They can interview all coached they want as this is for next season.
I don't think no matter what happens Terry will not be with our team next year.
So throw in what ever name you like I don't think it will happen.
And the only way would be if Terry walks.
But I think he likes the money too much for that to happen.
And if it does Cambell will take over.

we already changed the way we used to do things, we did not sack spud , kept him on , let him coach his term out and then did not renew his contract. then we gave terry 5 years. 2 coaches in 10 years isnt exactly the rfc of old. the eat our own sack our coaches business has been exagerated by the media. we have had 2 coaches in 10 yrs , no different to every other club
-
then we gave terry 7 years.
Huh?

Plough didn't rate Schulz before he even became coach yet Sarge is still around on our list 5 years later lol.

what about the meeting someone had with K.Hinkley. :shh
im sure that headline is not far away.

i guess 'who' was your friends brother?
i too, went to tafe with a guy that knew Dean Polo (and Jarrad Roughead - Gippsland boys), who said a similar thing about 'Terry having favourites'.
very disappointing if that is true, Terry having favourites.
rumours spread or get started.
does a 'Michael Egan' a former Footscray player ring a bell with anyone here?
Mr Egan was infact my high school teacher for many years and has told me a thing a two about Terry.
however, if the 'word' is true or not, we can only tell, through these 'signs/things' i believe tell a lot about a Football club;
1) if the heads are up,
2) the talking,
3) the one-percenters during matches,
4) the high-fives, pats on the back,
5) sharing of the Football,
6) overall, team bonding.
at the moment, i've probably only seen Richmond once 'play with heart' since the start of 2008,
and that was 'that match' aganist Brisbane.
i can only see three possible after-match feelings ...
1st - Loss; all over, Terry will be asked to leave.
2nd - Win under 4 goals, almost like a loss because it was Melbourne.
3rd - Win over 4 goals, it was Melbourne.
no, 'wow' good win by the boys, 'played hard football at the ball and the man' ... hopefully i'm very wrong!

heard that one too
and really, march and the club should be meeting with every available option

then we gave terry 75 years.
Huh?
sorry typo, my bad
we all know i meant 5 years

Gotta say I am confused Monk on:
Livingstone: he is not a coach but "Development Manager" and he is a Craig Cameron appointment so...
Condon: is a fitness guy who's been there what 5 minutes... ;D
As for the assistances you've listed ... whatever .. but I would hope we have some spare $$$ available in case some maybe contracted for longer than this season
Now onto this constant "he's loss the players" thing... I think it is a crock of poo, not just in thsi case but in all cases.... have never understood it
Whatever

The way i see it, if this favorites thing is true, these young blokes have two choices..1. drop their heads and sulk about being the middle child or
2. play their backsides off and make him rate them and really earn their places in the side.
I hate the molly coddling that goes on these days, near enough is not good enough. The players that really want to make it in this league are the ones who go and work their guts out to prove to thier coach they are good enough regardless of whether they are the naturally skilled ones, and they do it without sooking.
My dad was a b**tard of a coach in a local league and i wouldve hated to be playing under him, but his players played their bums off to impress him. They were an average bunch of boys as players but they only lost one game in 2 years (nevermind that it was the second grand final lol :scream)
-
While Wallace may have his favourites, all coaches do. There hasn't been any players dominating at Coburg week in week out that haven't got a call up to the seniors. If Polo is having a sook then he only needs to look in the mirror because he was pretty average last year and lucky to get a new contract. Rance would be more hard done by than Polo and have a look at how he's going now. Collins may have also felt a little miffed, but his timing was always terrible with his good performances. The weeks he played well, so did Richmond or he'd not back up his good game the next week, but he's in the side now so I hope he makes the most of it. Making players work harder to get into the side should always be the preferred method.

One of the more sensible posts of late. Especially on this topic.

Was a saying one of my coaches used to use "if they don't like me I don't care because I know they will play in spite of me" His logic being they will play to impress me and prove me wrong

Look i am not so silly to not know that some players will always have a beef against their coach! Even in premiership teams.Point in case, Jason Akermanis and Leigh Matthews. What i find glaring, and please remember that i am a wallace fan,is that the younger players dont like to take on their opponents anymore for fear of making mistakes. They want to go out and play like kids do, exciting running football. Now i think it is reasonable to assume that our younger players are playing scared football for fear of feeling the coaches wrath. Teams with other young players have them performing better as they throw caution to wind and play their natural game. I agree, if you dont like the coach then suck it up, but is it time to let us play uninhibited footy? Maybe thats why collin and connors are in this week. Personally i hope we kick arse this week and Terry walks around the mcg afterwards making axe motions with his hands to the crowd.... :whistle
-
Ask any Collingwood supporter and they would say after a loss their biggest criticism of Malthouse is he has his favourites and plays them even when out of form. Most coaches do it. Only 50% of the playing list can make the firsts so there'll always be upset players. They need as 2JD said to grow up and work hard to prove their worth. If you prove yourself invaluable to the team then the coach will want you in the side.
