Gary March on SEN around 8.20am this morning
• Was asked if TW will see out his contract. Answered that he is contracted until the end of 2009.
•Club had made it very clear at the end of the 2008 that they had a very definite process and that at this stage had not changed.
• Process was that the Club would review the footy operations and coaching position mid season. This review is an on going thing
• Said any review will not be conducted through the media
• Yes there is a board meeting tomorrow night but it hasn’t been called after yesterday, it is the normal scheduled monthly board meeting
• Said that for a team that won 11 and half games last season the start had been unacceptable
• Said he spoken to TW last night. Was asked how TW “was holding up” said that he obviously bitternly disappointed
• Asked whether TW would attend tomorrows board meeting to present a review. March said that Craig Cameron attends every board meeting and that TW usually attends every 2nd or 3rd one
•March said today’s media headlines and articles seem more balanced. Was very disappointed with the last week more with the personal nature of the attacks that the criticism of the Club
• Said it was clear that the team was playing with no confidence
• Was asked about not being at the game yesterday. Explained that this wedding was for a friend of over 30 years and that sometimes there are things in life more important than footy. He said he made a commitment to his friend months ago and had kept that commitment. Added that if we were 3-0 instead of 0-3 then it would not have been an issue
• Watson said that to some tiger supporters there is nothing more important than footy and March answered that he understood that because we have the most passionate supporters and he knows we are hurting
That’s all I can remember for now

This was the most promising aspect of the interview. Hope this becomes the reality or any prospect coach will think twice before coming to Tigerland.

I really hope GM has the balls not to sack terry, it would be a disaster.

You wonder, are things being addressed as and when they arise, like have they identified a lack of skills/development coaches, and if they have identified it, have they addressed it?
Going on our performances this year, they're not addressing anything with regard to that methinks :banghead

moi, his answer was that terry is contracted til the end of the year, we know that , but march did not really answer the question. he just stated the obvious
i was all for keep terry , but now im not so sure, he seems to have lost his grip on reality.
reality is we are no better off 5 yrs down the track, terry just cannot admit he has failed
-
March also said that when they got Sheedy back at the club they told him there was no position in the football department and Sheedy knew that.

Which is what Jack's been saying for the last three years that Sheeds will coach and he still can't get that right :wallywink

Remember this bit but have been unable to get back on the forum til now :P
* March was asked does the Club have a contingency plan if we lose the next 3 and TW comes to him and says “I’ve had enough” eg he TW walks. He said we certainly do, we have contingency for all possible scenarios
* Andy Maher asked does that contingency involve Sheedy in a caretaker role. March said absolutely not. March said that Sheedy is well aware and understands that when he was bought back to the club there was no role in football for him and that has not changed.

imo wallace has 2 weeks left
when we are 0-6 and have no chance of making finals , wallace will be gone

true to a point
Did he guarantee TW would coach out the season - No not directly
Did he even remotely suggest that TW ill be sacked this week as some are suggesting? No he didn't but my take on it was nothing is going to happen in the short term. Which clearly will distress some ;D
What he said was we have to start winning games - which to me equals stating the obvious ;D
imo wallace has 2 weeks left
My view is he has until June
I really hope GM has the balls not to sack terry, it would be a disaster.
So true in so many ways

It already is a disaster Blaisee!
Must admit though, I am warming to the idea of keeping Wallace, axing our 30yr old+ duds, give the Dees another win, and hopefully tank our way to the No.1 pick.

so am i??
do we really want another caretaker coach coming in and stringing a few meaningless wins together. I think not!!
WHO NEEDS TO TANK WHEN YOU WALLACE AND HIS GAME PLANS DOING THE TANKING FOR US.

Exactly, then lets support TW totally, blow wind up his and our playing duds rs's and walk away with excellent draft pickings.

Yeah, I though this answer was revealing - extraordinary in fact. Almost suggested that he would be quite pleased if that were to happen. Have we got a stand-off situation here? Wallace - "I'm not a quitter." March, "We won't sack you."

Tigers have contingency plan
April 20, 2009 - 12:50PM
Under-fire Richmond coach Terry Wallace's future remains unclear, with club president Gary March saying the club does have a contingency plan in place should he not see out the AFL season.
Wallace ruled out resigning after an eight-point defeat by last year's wooden spooners Melbourne left the Tigers winless in their opening four matches this season.
Wallace arrived at the club's headquarters on Monday morning to be greeted by a barrage of television cameras.
He was expected to meet with March and football operations boss Craig Cameron later in the day.
March confirmed Wallace was likely to attend the club's regular board meeting scheduled for Tuesday night, though he denied that was anything out of the ordinary.
"That's our regular board meeting, it wasn't a specially called for meeting," March told Melbourne radio station SEN.
"Terry normally comes and makes a presentation."
March, who missed Sunday's defeat to attend a wedding on the Gold Coast, said should Wallace decide to walk away the club had a back-up plan in place, though he refused to divulge what it was.
But he said Richmond remained committed to a mid-season decision on whether Wallace would remain beyond the end of his current contract this year.
"As a club, you've got an obligation to have contingency plans in place," he said.
"We've thought through those things and we have got some plans in place.
"We are going through a process (beyond 2009), and we are not going to play it out in the media.
"He (Wallace) is contracted through to the end of the 2009 season and ... we've said we do a review of our coaching position mid-season.
"That's still ongoing, so nothing's changed."
But March categorically ruled out luring four-time Essendon premiership coach Kevin Sheedy, who is employed at Richmond in an ambassadorial role, into a comeback if a caretaker was needed.
March also said he was mystified by his club's start to the year, saying the players' dreadful performances this season may be a "mental issue".
"At the moment they're just playing awfully - I think that's probably the only way you could describe it," March said.
"Our form's terrible at the moment and we've got to do something to snap them out of that."

Sheedy not an option
April 20, 2009 12:15pm
RICHMOND president Gary March has ruled out Kevin Sheedy as a replacement for embattled coach Terry Wallace.
The Tigers are yet to win this season, putting the blowtorch firmly on Wallace, who is in the final season of a five-year contract.
While some Tigers fans have been clamouring for the appointment of favourite son Sheedy, who returned to the club in a marketing role this year, March said that wasn't on the club's agenda.
“Kevin Sheedy’s not part of our contingency and never has been.” March told radio station SEN this morning.
“Kevin came back to the football club and he made it clear to me he didn’t want to be involved in football and I made it clear to Kevin that we didn’t have a role for him in football, so that’s never been a part of the plan.”
March did, however have a simple answer for the Tigers' poor start to the season.
“At the moment they’re just playing awfully, I think that’s probably the only way you could describe it,” he said.
“Our form’s terrible at the moment and we’ve got to do something to snap them out of that.”
March defended his absence from yesterday's eight-point loss to Melbourne, which he missed to attend a wedding.
“I think I’ve missed four games in five years,” he said.
“I went to the wedding of a guy I’ve known for 30 years. He’s worked for me since I started my business 15 years ago."

Sheeds' PR man James Hird is saying tonight they should appoint him ::)

Well, the difference between me and Jackstar is that I really do want what's best for the club.
And if that's Sheeds, or Campbell and we have success with them, I will party like the rest and say I was wrong in my judgement. So I'm okay with that.
But if I'm right and think Sheeds is past it and I don't have much faith in Campbell, I reserve the right to say so. Am I entitled to that? Before you say, no, I care the least what you actually think lol
Jackstar on the other hand, couldn't give a stuff about the club.
Is all about him and about him being right. Well, I'm going to win Tattslotto. One day it could happen ::) The same with Sheeds, it could happen, but anyone could have made a wild guess and said so and then claim, I told you so. Well, he's been saying it for three years. When do you actually say, Jackstar got it wrong? After 20 years? :rollin :wallywink

Moi, I want the RFC to be succesfull. As I have said all along, it aint going to happen with Terry Wallace. His management of people is poor, no wonder the players wont play for him and had enough :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
IF Gary March had any balls, Terry should be tapped on the shoulder tomorrow and a new coach to take over for Saturday night.
Our list isnt as bad as it looks. Problem is that are our good players have given up on him. Wouldnt you if you copped abuse all the time

If his time is up, it's up and we move on.
But I won't forget your role, Jack ;)
Let's hope whoever takes over is successful.
If it's our long lost prodigal son Sheeds, the great white hope of Richmond people for the past 20 years, and he's not successful, what then for the supporters?
If it's our most popular :rollin former captain, Cambo, he will get slaughtered by the supporters after just two losses. He won't be given the grace Wallace was given because he was treated with disdain by most supporters his whole career. Give him the poison chalice of coach and all hell will break out.
Do you want that for him?
Whoever gets the role, I will support them. I just hope you and your sookie President's Club mates do the same and don't start creating the chaos we've seen the last year with whoever it is.
We've had enough, Jack. Well, I have.
I would prefer we worked out our problems rather than just sack bloody coaches. It doesn't work if you haven't noticed.
And it's still too early to judge Wallace's legacy. He may not be given the opportunity to coach again. But if we can get three quarters of the players on our list to play over 100 games, and hopefully in premiership line-ups, he will have been a success one way or another.
There's a lot of people down on Wallace at the moment, and I'm not happy with what's happening either, but he does still have support and I don't think he will be remembered how you hope he will be.

l think we all want whats best for the RFC so we can have some celebration & stress relief. We are all so stressed to the max after promises, but we are all angry because the way the players make skill errors that are so bad its just not professional at all. You can see better skills in the TAC, Metro & Country football at a cheaper membership cost that gives you free grog days etc.
These blokes are paid huge money & are getting coached by high profile coaches yet they pocess skills definately not of AFL quality.
l have seen many of these players before they even hit the Richmond football club & they have gone backwards. Shot with no confidence because they are playing scared. Scared of making mistakes instead of taking the game on going forward & having confidence in thier tall marking forwards & crumbers but its not happening & you cannot coach what they are doing wrong. They are playing rushed football & its ugly.
But getting back to my point we are all here on this forum for the football club we support & relief some footy stress. We wouldnot come here otherwise.

You wonder when TW is going to say, fair enough what I am trying isn't working, this week just go out and play some footy boys.
It seemed to happen at the Freo game last year and I am just wondering if it is going to happen again
