Gary March on SEN
« on: April 20, 2009, 09:50:53 AM »
Gary March on SEN around 8.20am this morning

• Was asked if TW will see out his contract. Answered that he is contracted until the end of 2009.

•Club had made it very clear at the end of the 2008 that they had a very definite process and that at this stage had not changed.

• Process was that the Club would review the footy operations and coaching position mid season. This review is an on going thing

• Said any review will not be conducted through the media

• Yes there is a board meeting tomorrow night but it hasn’t been called after yesterday, it is the normal scheduled monthly board meeting

• Said that for a team that won 11 and half games last season the start had been unacceptable

• Said he spoken to TW last night. Was asked how TW “was holding up” said that he obviously bitternly disappointed

• Asked whether TW would attend tomorrows board meeting to present a review. March said that Craig Cameron attends every board meeting and that TW usually attends every 2nd or 3rd one

•March said today’s media headlines and articles seem more balanced. Was very disappointed with the last week more with the personal nature of the attacks that the criticism of the Club

• Said it was clear that the team was playing with no confidence

• Was asked about not being at the game yesterday. Explained that this wedding was for a friend of over 30 years and that sometimes there are things in life more important than footy. He said he made a commitment to his friend months ago and had kept that commitment. Added that if we were 3-0 instead of 0-3 then it would not have been an issue

• Watson said that to some tiger supporters there is nothing more important than footy and March answered that he understood that because we have the most passionate supporters and he knows we are hurting

That’s all I can remember for now

This was the most promising aspect of the interview. Hope this becomes the reality or any prospect coach will think twice before coming to Tigerland.

I really hope GM has the balls not to sack terry, it would be a disaster.

You wonder, are things being addressed as and when they arise, like have they identified a lack of skills/development coaches, and if they have identified it, have they addressed it?
Going on our performances this year, they're not addressing anything with regard to that methinks :banghead

moi, his answer was that terry is contracted til the end of the year, we know that , but march did not really answer the question. he just stated the obvious

i was all for keep terry , but now im not so sure, he seems to have lost his grip on reality.

reality is we are no better off 5 yrs down the track, terry just cannot admit he has failed

March also said that when they got Sheedy back at the club they told him there was no position in the football department and Sheedy knew that.

Which is what Jack's been saying for the last three years that Sheeds will coach and he still can't get that right  :wallywink

Remember this bit but have been unable to get back on the forum til now  :P

*  March was asked does the Club have a contingency plan if we lose the next 3 and TW comes to him and says “I’ve had enough” eg he TW walks. He said we certainly do, we have contingency for all possible scenarios

* Andy Maher asked does that contingency involve Sheedy in a caretaker role. March said absolutely not. March said that Sheedy is well aware and understands that when he was bought back to the club there was no role in football for him and that has not changed.

true to a point

Did he guarantee TW would coach out the season - No not directly

Did he even remotely suggest that TW ill be sacked this week as some are suggesting? No he didn't but my take on it was nothing is going to happen in the short term. Which clearly will distress some  ;D

What he said was we have to start winning games - which to me equals stating the obvious  ;D

imo wallace has 2 weeks left

My view is he has until June

I really hope GM has the balls not to sack terry, it would be a disaster.

So true in so many ways

It already is a disaster Blaisee!

Must admit though, I am warming to the idea of keeping Wallace, axing our 30yr old+ duds, give the Dees another win, and hopefully tank our way to the No.1 pick.

do we really want another caretaker coach coming in and stringing a few meaningless wins together. I think not!!

Exactly, then lets support TW totally, blow wind up his and our playing duds rs's and walk away with excellent draft pickings.

Yeah, I though this answer was revealing - extraordinary in fact. Almost suggested that he would be quite pleased if that were to happen.  Have we got a stand-off situation here? Wallace - "I'm not a quitter." March, "We won't sack you."
