Please people who is responsable after this debarcle toninght???? The players are end of story!!!! They are weak.
-
How the stuff do you give a 22 point lead up afetr the game has been controled all night by the Tigers??????????
-
Please people who is responsable after this debarcle toninght???? The players are end of story!!!! They are weak.
Correct. Mentally weak.
Our players drop their heads after 2 goals and throw their arms up and say it's all too hard.
I got home to watch the end of the game and watched Essendon kick 8 goals.
Looks like Tambling, Bowden and Foley are the only ones who truly give a stuff and are willing to put in when the going gets tough.
Our Captain Courageous Newman has been unsighted. :-\

Great call!!!!
-
simmonds is one that has to go. l was there tonight and he looked slow, lazy and clumsy
-
Unfortunantely politics will dictate who will stay and who will go.
The players will have the biggest say in it.
WAT yep how do you get 22 points up and lose?
What we saw in the last 45 mins was a team who played sack the coach footy.
Not sacking the coach because he can't coach but sacking the coach because they don't want him there. He has lost the playing group.
Two biggest games for the club this year with the biggest national tv audience tonight and rd 1 and the players showed what they though of the coach in the last year of his contract.
The players are talking.
I know its heartbreaking for all us Tiger fams to as we thought even for a brief moment we were a show in the 1st 2nd and 3rd quarters only to be let down again but the charade is starting to take its toll on the fans and will start to do so on the players hence the traumatic week we have had.
You are right it is the players and their rd 1,3,4,7,and 9 showing is testament to this and the reason why at years end Terry needs to go but as I said not because he can't coach or whatever as he has shown a capacity to coach in the past but because the most important people the coach has to work with (The Players) don't want him there and hence these results.
The club will continue with the players of course but the coach is always the variance. Please understand this WAT that the club will not win another game until either it becomes public
A) Terry is sacked as of a specific moment rd 12 , Tuesday or whatever
B) Terry tenure will not be extended beyond rd 22 2009.
C) Terry resigns as of a specific moment.
Thats the simplicity of it. Players are playing sack the coach footy. Have been for 75% of this season.
-
Definitely the players
It's too easy to blame the coach, but he isn't the one who tells them to stop running
-
what was real obvious tonight was this.
In the first half we didnt once go backswards sideways etc with short kicks.
we played quick transition in the first half and kicked fairly long.
2nd half we lost our forward structure, we started to drop players behind the ball which resulted in short kicks ,slow transition, sideways
THAT IS THE COACHES FAULT.
Anyone who actually watches the game would of seen that we didnt go one on one in the 2nd half, and the back D6 players started to zone off, which created a huge problem, game over
-
maybe they are listening to ramps and we are TANKING
-
Combo of Both!
Players:
Too many players simply not good enough (lack of skills, poor decision making, slow thinkers, unwilling to take risks). Missing targets by hand and foot from 25m away ::). Certain players killing the momentum of attacks by stopping after marks and playing think music in their dopey heads.
Too much left to too few especially in the midfield. Once Tucky, Foley and Jacko tired we were gone. By halfway through the 3rd qtr we could run anymore. The attacking and defensive intensity dropped off dramatically which allowed the Bombers a free reign. In the first half we contained their inside mids which starved their runners while ours got on top.
Goalkicking apart from a couple of unbelievable exceptions (Lids' one) was crap again :banghead. Early misses denied us what should have been a 5-6 goal lead and those 3 misses after half-time kept the Bombers in with a sniff which they gladly accepted. The worse miss though (and I've forgotten the player?) was the one where he ran to 50 and couldn't decide what bloody foot to kick with :scream. How blood stupid can you get :banghead.
Coaching staff:
Playing underdone players who can't run out games - Cotch, Connors for example. Long term it doesn't matter as hopefully they'll be right for the start of preseason but it won't win you games now.
Not talls up forward. Having a small midsized forward line means you have to dominate the midfield so the ball is coming in quickly under little pressure and there's plenty of space for the small forwards to lead and mark into. Once Essendon evened up the stoppages out scoring dried up and when they got on top at the stoppages as we tired the floodgates opened. We had to keep up our midfield intensity for the whole game but we didn't have the midfield rotation that could pull it off. It was all left to Tuck, Foley and Jacko and once they tired it was goodnight. Our other mids had ordinary games. A small forward line also means we were having a lot of shots at goal from out wide or far out (50-60m).
Kick-in strategy is awful. We still use the old rule of wait for the ump and allow the opposition to set up their zone. Apparently we are the 2nd best side at scoring coast to coast but it costs us as many goals too because we don't have the precise individual and team skills (have we ever heard of shepherding :banghead ) under pressure to avoid getting into trouble. On top of that once again like the Brisbane game our right side was left open by Essendon yet we continually kicked-in to the congested side which resulted in many 50/50 contests that ended up heading back over our defenders heads.
-
they had Cogs at full forward for 10 minutes in the third quarter.
Comedy at its best.
Its a disgrace that Wallace is allowed to go on :banghead

Tambling cant hit a target and was the same all night.
But if you watched the game you really should have included Jackson as he played the game all night.
He was our best on feild and better than the 3 players memtioned here, by a mile.

Managed to catch the replay on TDT after the game finished.
Jackson did indeed do well in the first half but I was talking about players who kept playing even when the tide was completely against us. A test of character.
And those three were it. You might be able to find a case for Jackson and Collins to join those three but those three were the ones I noticed far and above the others.
Mentally weak team.
-
Is it all the off feild crap that is playing into the hands of the other teams?
Or is it just a case that our player can't take direction weather it is right or wrong.
We are the whipping boys of the AFL now and not even the best supporter could really argue with that at this time.
I heard the commentators last night and they were talking about supporters throwing back their membership.
Now I think those commentators should shut the hell up as they are dried up old coaches that couldn't get the job done either.
And to place that carp in the minds of our supporters is out of line.
-
maybe they are listening to ramps and we are TANKING
If they listen well, I can lead them to the promised land ;D which in this instance could be the local charcoal chicken joint for a lamb gyros souvlaki at Lunch time ;D
-
l call that a blatant case of tanking
-

I wouldnt have thought that a lamb gyros souva could result in tanking but if you say so monkey then thats fine lol.
everyone should get over it, the seasons done and dusted, lets get the best picks possible and move on.

If you think that it is okay to tank then that is your opinion.
I think that to tank is gutless.
The more game we loss, the more we lose out on supporters and sponsor's.
Who wants their brand associated with a lossing mob of wanna be's.
If I was a sponsor I know I would be pulling the pin on us right now.

Personally, I had big hopes for this year, but the reality is that this season was gone weeks ago, Its also obvious that we still dont have enough talented players who are also competitive and hard workers throughout 100% of a game, in that instance and using the system at hand, it is better to tank, why because the 3 players we get in the first 20 may give us another Cotchin and another Rance, I would go further this year and say that we should try and finish dead set last, so we can get the first pick in the PSD, and try and lure a key forward from another club that is still young and maybe isnt doing as well as hed hoped or isnt getting the chances he expects, theres 2 two of those types at the moment in the AFL and Id be extremely pleased if we got 1 of the 2 via the PSD come seasons end.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Tigermonk said his son doesn't want to be drafted by us already.
So in saying that if we continue to lose how would that entice other players to come here to a losing culture.
I know I will be here for the long run but I'm not a player.
And players will not want to be here in this mess that we are in now.
I also think that we will be keeping sponsors away in the way that we are losing.
Last week was okay as we were away and put up a good fight. But last night was pathetic.
Tambling said when he was first drafted he wanted to be at the Bombers.
So what will stop others from not wanting to talk to us?
I don't know how to fix this all I can do is say what is on my mind.
And it could be wrong to, so I'm not saying what I say is right. Just my views on it.

Yep and thats fair enough as well, in the end, we just supporters, our club has been stuffed over by people who worked at the place since the early 1980s. I always go back to when we lost Cloke and Raines and Wood, we lost 3 stars - to do what- to go on a recruiting binge, getting players from Collingwood, none of whom had any success at Collingwood. In effect we traded stars and winners for average players from a losing culture- and no ones been able to fix it since.
-
I can remeber being so proud of our Tigers back then.
I still love them but it's a little embarassing to walk about with our shirts on in public.
As I have to do seeing most of my cloths have the tigers one them.
I will never leave our team. But our team is leaving us out to the vultures.
And it does get hard to defend them week in and week out.
But I will try my best.
If only we could bring back the 80's team to give us the shot in the arm we so badly need.

Don't be so stupid Jack, who are you going to blame next year???????????????

That means nothing, all players want to get drafted by the team they support as a kid

Good point.

lol.It means nothing anyway.
We dont need another dumb prick with a know all father at the club.
Be glad about this.

Cotchin, Connors, Raines, Pettifer, Pattison, Brown ....... That's six out of 22 who aren't fit enough to play out a game. Is it really a surprise that we fade away and don't run hard enough in the second half?

Well who do you blame for Cogs playing at Full forward? The boot studder, :banghead :banghead :banghead ::) ::) ::)
-
The players aren't trying to lose now to get rid of the coach. That ship has already sailed, its only a matter of time. They are just not good enough and strong enough mentally. We need a coach with good motivation and psycological skills to make sure the team can play to their best regardless. Perhaps Malthouse would fit the bill.
At the moment though, the only person the players are getting rid of with their performances, is themselves. :P

Who's to "blame" for the 1st half then? The players? WOuld think the coach may have had just a little input into it
I would argue the first half is the best footy we've played in probably 12 months - it was fantastic watch.
Actually last night (bar the result) was a very good game of footy to watch, first half by us, 2nd half by them.
Fast attacking, when it comes off it really is a treat to watch especially with that atmosphere :clapping
they had Cogs at full forward for 10 minutes in the third quarter.
I reckon he was luck that he got hiddne down there ;D If you want to point fingers at "slow transition" - I reckon sadly Cogs is a major culprit
Agree with others when the Bombers got those run on of goals in the 3rd as per normal of 2009, heads dropped and that was that....
Have to say that if Morton and Polo (and there was one other but I am not sure who it was) had kicked those set shots result could have been very different
-
Well the players are going to find out it obvious by TW comment ' we are going to find out who's going to take Richmond forward' that they might be playing a few more of the boys from Coburg

Cogs, very ordinary
-

But I think even you acknowledge that the 1st half was excellent footy
Surely the coaches deserve a pat on the back for that ;D
-
First half was fantastic. long kicking playing on etc etc. No backwards sideways rubbish. Players were pushing forward of the ball. Thus we were in front.
After half time we lost our structure as extra players went back behind the ball when they kicked 2 goals, game then was over.
Terry tries to protect leads and blow outs in games, thats his trademark.
How many times in the past he used to push Richo back to try and stop the bleeding.?
When he does that, he loses the forward structure

Agree we lost our structure but at the same time I think the Bombers backs tightened up a fair bit as well.
But the body lanaguage of our players when the scores got tied was terrible you could just see the heads drop, the shoulders sag. That's where our lack of leadership is really highlighted IMHO - we needed someone to snap us out of it ....
-
your right there WP, all the fist pumping from the first half soon disappeared.
Those guys show no leadership when under the pump.
-
Tonight it's the players. Kindergarten skills :banghead.

Yep great to have a win but geez we worked hard for it against a poor side
-
Still 3 quarters away from 4 quarters but so stoked, paid nearly $3 too!
-
So people who is it now, the coach OR players?? All I have read since the loss to St Kilda is; drop Deledio, drop Cotchin, trade Foley (totally bemused by this one). I must admit I am not fond of Edwards and I have not tried to conseal that fact.
But now Herd has pipe'd up so have a few others and gues what......... IT"S THE PLAYERS PEOPLE, IT'S THEIR FAULT. They are lazy and undriven, sheesh, all I heard was how much they respected Rawlings and how much better they would play for him...... please let me know when this happens. :whistle
-
Wce was a resonable result/effort.
I bumped into a diehard Saints man at the game and he said they were doing what they did to us to most sides anyway, so probably looked worse than it was (which was pretty bad anyway).
Adelaide are in form but expect a bit more of an indicator from this match.
Will be there watching what many can not see on the box and will give a bit of a wrap when I am back Monday Night. Who's lazy who chases, does the 1%ers behind the play etc
If I'm not too pizzed that is (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-eatdrink009.gif)

I will be on the fence somewhere with some mates and kids wearing the original tiger claw jumper if you want to take a punt. I dont bite.
