Michael Jackson dies after suffering heart attack in Los Angeles
UPDATE 8.56am: MICHAEL Jackson has died following a suspected cardiac arrest, LA medical and law enforcement sources confirmed.
Paramedics reportedly performed CPR on the 50-year-old singer while transporting him to hospital in Los Angeles, but reports claim they never managed to get a pulse.
The Los Angeles Times reported LA Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's $US100,000-a-month rented home in Holmby Hills near Sunset Boulevard around 12:26pm (5.26am Melbourne time), and they found him not breathing.
The parademics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told The Times.
Celebrity news site TMZ.com first reported Jackson was collected by ambulance from his Holmby Hills home just after noon local time, about 5am Melbourne time.
The Los Angeles Times reported Jackson was in a coma when he arrived at the UCLA hospital. It reported that he was pronounced dead by medical staff soon after his arrival.
Jackson is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.
Jackson was reportedly planning a comeback and was living in LA while rehearsing a series of 50 sold-out shows in London.
However those concerts - billed as the "final curtain" - had been thrown into doubt after Jackson pushed back the opening dates last month.
Organisers of the concerts had stressed the delay was not linked to Jackson's health.
Jackson was known as the King of Pop for his dominance and reshaping of the music industry in the 1970s and 1980s, first as a member of the Jackson Five and later as a solo artist.
His Thriller album remains the biggest selling of all time. The music video for the title track was a worldwide sensation and a landmark moment for a generation.

No disrespect to him, but if he had of passed away after the 'Bad' album, he'd be remembered as an absolute legend.
He turned into a stuff show through the 90's and is regarded as a joke nowadays.
No matter what you think of him, his 70's and 80's work is awesome stuff, apart from the Paul McCartney collaborations.

Off the Wall was my favourite album and then I thought even though he went onto bigger and better things, they were the start of the stuff show and so Off the Wall was my favourite, and I never bought anthing after Thriller.
I would have liked to have been able to remember him from that but I'm going to be haunted by images of an absolute tragic figure.
I kinda feel sorry for him for certain aspects of his life, but mostly not.
I would like to know how he turned out the way he did.
Family???

Correction, Jeff Goldblum alive :rollin

Goldblum said reports of his death have been greatly exaggerated lol. Some idiot believed things happen in 3s and made up the story of Goldblum dying in NZ.

Yep he didn't have a normal family upbringing with an abusive father and living life in a public bubble from a young age. How much that affected his behaviour later in life who knows but his last 20 or so years after Thriller won't be remembered for his music. A flawed genius - musically gifted but the rest of his life was tragic and bizarre. I agree Froars Off the Wall was his peak musically even though Thriller was the all-time selling record when it came out. Thriller dated very quickly.
Sad about Farrah Fawcett who has almost been forgetten in all this. RIP.

One more troubled soul at peace at last.
RIP Jacko

When Farrah Fawcett arrived at heaven, God granted her one wish.
She wished for all the little boys and girls in the world to be safe.
So God killed Michael Jackson.
-
Apparently his nasal passages were so narrowed due to his many rhinoplasty episodes, that his nose became completely blocked with hardened phlegm, making it difficult to breathe and may have brought on the heart attack while he was rehearsing.
So...Blame it on the Boogie.

Drugs, stress blamed for Michael Jackson's death
Carly Crawford
June 27, 2009
PRESCRIPTION drugs and an intense rehearsal regime have been blamed for the death of tortured pop superstar Michael Jackson.
An autopsy will be conducted today with the results expected as earlier as this afternoon, according to the Los Angeles coroner's office.
Jackson died after collapsing in his rented luxury home in the ritzy LA suburb of Bel Air.
The 50-year-old King of Pop stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest just a fortnight before his comeback concerts were due to kick off in London.
He was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead two hours later.
A family lawyer blamed Jackson's handlers and compared his death to the tragedy of Playboy bunny Anna Nicole Smith, who died from prescription drug abuse.
"The people who have been surrounding him have been enabling him," lawyer Brian Oxman said.
"If you think of the case of Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, it is nothing in comparison to what we've seen taking place in Michael Jackson's life."
Distraught fans poured out their grief across the US.
Police cordoned off the road outside Jackson's home, a gated haven off Sunset Boulevard, as fans swamped the UCLA Medical Centre playing Beat It and Thriller.
Others flocked to Hollywood's Walk of Fame. At New York's Times Square, crowds let out a collective gasp when news of his death flashed up on the broadcast screen.
Jermaine Jackson confirmed his brother's death before joining sister La Toya, brother Randy and mother Katherine in the hospital, where they wept together. Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor arrived at the hospital as Jackson's father Joe boarded a plane from Las Vegas.
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was dubbed the King of Pop.
His 1982 album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time, with more than 50 million copies sold worldwide.
He reputation was left in tatters by child sex allegations, even thought he was twice found not guilty.
Jackson had been rehearsing for what was to be his greatest comeback: 50 shows in London with the first set for July 13.
Mr Oxman said Jackson had been taking medication for fractures he had suffered to his spine and leg while performing.
"This is something that I feared and which I warned about," he said.
"When you warn people that this is what's going to happen and then it happens - where's there's smoke there's fire. This is a case of abuse of medications unless there's another cause which I don't know about."
Former producer and friend Tarak Ben Ammar also denounced the Jacksons' doctors as "criminals" and "charlatans" who had taken advantage of his hypochondria.
He said Jackson regularly took sleeping pills and he believed he died of a heart attack "because he was taking all sorts of medicines".
Jackson collapsed in his home about midday (Los Angeles) time. Staff called paramedics, who tried to revive the singer, who had gone into full cardiac arrest.
Fire Department captain Steve Ruda said the superstar was not breathing when they arrived at the sprawling estate, off Sunset Boulevard.
They rushed Jackson to the UCLA Medical Centre, about six minutes away, but he was pronounced dead at 2.26pm (7.26am Melbourne time).
The LAPD assigned homicide detectives to the case because of its high profile.
One report said Jackson weighed just 45kg in his final weeks and greeted guests in a wheelchair as he struggled to overcome injuries.
Jackson's children - Prince Michael, 12, Paris 11, and Prince Michael II, 7 - were in the care of his mother.

http://www.livenews.com.au/feature/deborah-rowe-former-wife-of-michael-jackson-says-children-arent-his/2009/6/29/211392
The mother to two of Michael Jackson's children has candidly come forward to admit that the children were the result of an anonymous donor - and not biologically linked to the late pop star.
Deborah Rowe, the mother of Prince, 12, and Paris, 11, says that she does not want custody of the children, despite the death of their legal father, Jackson, who died suddenly of a cardiac arrest last week.

With all the CD sales and publicity, he (well he's estate) is probably making more money now that he is dead than when he was alive.
-
The lighter his skin colour got, the less I liked him. A couple of years ago, someone did a computer image of how he'd look if he left the plastic surgery etc alone and he would have been still a good looking guy, not the stuff he turned out to be.

They're now saying there was enough drugs in Jacko to kill an elephant.
