Well I have been waiting to get this thread going since I sat back last wekend and watched the Carlton v Freo game and this is why;
I have never been so confident all year that we can win a game as I am now, this one is in the bag for mine. While watching the Freo v Carlton game last week I was less than impressed by Carlton for a number of reasons. They looked slow, unskillfull, undisciplined and reliant on one player............ Judd, ok maybe two......... Judd & Gibbs.
We were very good against the Crows albeit in patches, but gee when we run the lines, go direct, use the ball well and apply pressure we are as good as any team in the comp and we have proven that this year without result.
We can win this game so don't be surprised when we do, Carlton are over rated IMO and Fev is starting to do his usual. I don't believe they have a forward line other than Fev and I don't rate thier backline against our forwards who I believe have improved with Nahas pressuring backmen and keeping the ball down there and Riewoldt and Morton due for bags of goals.
Jackson will keep Judd quiet, Tuck will beat Gibbs and Cuz will take out Murphy. Cotch will come good and take out Carrazo and our strong backline with Rance back in will do the job. We also have White in who will add to the pace department, I would also expect that maybe King could be a late withdrawall and Thompson or Pato come in, but good luck to King if he plays.
We have nothing to lose and that is how we will play so come on everyone lets back them in this weekend :thumbsup

So unlike you to be pessimistic against the RFC daniel.... ::)

2 final series in 27 years will do that to u.

I feel it too mate don't worry but I will always back them in, we still need to stick with them through thick and thin..
-
I just had a look at the site "Talking Carlton"and there is a surprising number of pessimistic Chicken littles over there.
Many are saying its the worst Carlton team picked for the year...Some reckon its a 50/50 game. One bloke believes we will win by 40+ points.
It appears that their usual cockiness took a hammering a fortnight ago and has been replaced with a "expect the worse-be pleasantly suprised" attitude.
-
Luxbet Odds
Carlton $ 1.28
Richmond $ 3.75
Line at 23.5 points
-
If that round 1 abomination still burns in the players' guts even half as much as it does the supporters, then that is all the motivation we'll need to beat this stinking mob.
-
Never mind the 40+ points the Blues supporters are talking about, if we get our game on song.... add the 1st and last qtr's together from the Saints and Crows games and then the play from the freo game and we are talking redemption ++++++++ from round one. I firmly believe we can win this by over 10 goals.
Just get rid of the little men in your heads guys and play like you can.
-
Ch 10 news said Judd is sore. He started training later than the others.
Also emergency Cameron Cloke trained whereas Setanta O'hAilpan didn't. So maybe at least one late change for the Blues tomorrow.
-
Yes, I saw that on ten sport too. Great news. Hopefully Jacko and co. really target Judd for some physical punishment tomorrow. Glad Cloke is in too. I hope Cuz has a long memory, and pays him back for that cheap shot 20m off the ball in rd.1
-
Carlton's BF board also saying Setanta has bruised kidneys and definitely won't play. The result of 'friendly' fire from Fev.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=602175
-
Setanta claus not playing - whoopee didly shhit - if we r relying on that ! well !
We will win this one :cheers & sum moore :cheers
I believe it ??? ::) :gotigers
-
We already knew but 3aw just said Setanta is out.

-
Carlton goal in 18 seconds :P
-
Jacko on Judd. Judd 3 possies and 2 clearances already
0 - 7
We've finally got our first possession from the kick-in. Newy shanks it .
-
White running with Murphy
We have the breeze btw.
We've finally scored. point.
1 - 7
-
Hampson off with a shoulder.
Lids snaps long from 65m and bounces through for goal :gotigers
7 - 7
-
McGuane long and Jack marks in the pack :clapping. Post :P
8 - 7
-
Thursty on Fev.
We didn't understand the stupid deliberate behind rule and Moore, Thursty and McGuance kept it in under pressure and we stuffed it up. Betts goal.
8 - 14
-
Carlton this time stuffed up in defence and Jack off the gorund goal :gotigers
14 - 14
-
Free to Jake King on 50m. He didn't think he could kick it despite the breeze so only jabbed at it but it still carried it. Point.
Carlton run it down for a point. From the kick in Edwards gets caught but we clear.
15 - 15
-
Ump makes up a free against jack inside our forward line :banghead. It was a good bump not a hold ::)
-
If I read one more post on this site about giving Edwards a fair go I am going to lose the plot, why the stuff did he think he could break Judd's tackle?????????????????????????????????????????
-
rushed point to us
16 - 21
-
Graham good mark from the kick-in. Cousins good work to Morton for a goal :gotigers
22 - 21

Bucks called Lids lazy. Allowed Gibbs to get 10m clear and then relied on his athleticism to beat Gibbs.
Quarter time
Richmond 3.4-22
Carlton 3.3-21
Goals: Deledio, Riewoldt, Morton
-
Gee we played the better footy didn't we and the pressure in our forward line was great... keep it up boys!!!
-
Possies: 96 - 101. Our handballs are once again more than kicks (42, 56)
Cousins 10
Deledio 9
Tuck 9
Jackson 7
McGuane 7
Riewoldt 6
Tackles: 22 - 25
Hitouts: 7 - 17 :-\
-
Gee we played the better footy didn't we and the pressure in our forward line was great... keep it up boys!!!
Yep our forward pressure has been good. We're 5 goals closer than round 1 with a much younger side :thumbsup
I still wish we kicked more :-\. It is swirly though.
How good has Cuz been :clapping
-
King across the ground and hits Simpson. No matter how many times he stuffs up he keeps on doing it :banghead .
-
Joseph beats Morton too easily.
End up in a Fev goal. First thing he's done all day
22 - 27
-
Top mark Postie :bow
Good play Nahas. Took it on. Goal jack :gotigers
What was Whitey thinking ???
28 - 27
-
Free to judd off the ball ::). Betts point.
28 - 29
-
Tuck long point
29 - 29
-
McGuane up forward. Morton off.
Ump pings Jack for grabbing Thorton. Dumb free when we had them under the pump and Carlton runs it up for a goal.
29 - 35
-
Not good enough Jack, just gave them that goal.
-
Rance across the ground which should have been marked by Newy. We stuff it up. Goal to Carlton.
29 - 42
-
Nahas to Blingers and finds Postie. Shawy likes him. Post to Cuz long to the swqure. Morton was on 30 sec delay and we only get a point.
30 - 42
-
That was a throw by Betts to Fev ::). Anotehr Blues goal.

We've had plenty of stoppages up forward but Carlton are clearing every one :scream
Ump sees a throw. Free to Nahas. Goal :gotigers
36 - 50
-
White long to the square. Nahas nails Joseph in a tackle. Goal :gotigers
42 - 50
-
We get it forward again from the clearance but Carlton clears and runs it up to Fev too easily. Didn't need that just before half-time
42 - 56
-
Bloody handball first option from the centre clearance and it goes behind a teammate :banghead. How about a quick long kick forward instead ::)
Lukey isn't a forward. You;ve got to hold those marks. Carlton run it up for a goal
42 - 62
4 to fev
-
Lucky it wasn't 5 to Fev ::)
Half time
Richmond 3.4 6.6-42

Really let ourselves down didn't we, real shame. :( :(

Cotchin 16
Cousins 16

King 10
Tambling 10
Tackles: 40 - 43
Hitouts: 14 - 29
-
Really let ourselves down didn't we, real shame. :( :(
Yep those two dumb frees and a dropped mark by Lukey cost us 3 goals. That's the margin.
Our skill level is atrocious. Too cute in these windy conditions. Handblling instead of kicking long and K.I.S.S. :banghead
Their rucks and Judd are killing us at centre clearances and stoppages. It's meant ot be a strength of ours but we are being murdered today. We're really missing Foley even if he is insn't flavour of the month on here.
We are also playing a high zone to stop the ball coming out of our forward line but it isn't working. The Blues are breaking through and we are exposed.
-
Nahas 9 possies of which 7 are contested. Bucks saying if his teammates had his attitude, desperation and workrate we'd get back into this game.
Shaw wants us to push Lids forward to give us another marking option.
-
Very clever there by Cuz. Finds Hislop who finds Jack just on 50m with the breeze. Didn;t get the distance ::) but it's a free in gthe bakc to Hislop. Point.
43 - 62
-
Cuz point
44 - 62
-
Blues run it up to Fev.
44 - 68
Sums up our goalkicking this year. So many 11 point turnarounds against us :scream
-
Free to Nahas. Postie marks (antoehr good one) and handballs to Newy for a long goal :gotigers
50 - 68
-
Lids now on Judd.
Newy down and off after Jack set him up.
McGuane point.
51 - 68
-
Handball happy again and we stuff it up :banghead. Reckon there were 10 handballs in a row ::). Fev OOTF thankfully.
You can't wait for the ball to come to you Whitey.
We're actually in this but can't convert our possession in goals.
Tuck find Graham outside 50m. point.
52 - 68
-
Tambling out of defence to Polo to Cuz finds Postie and then Morton takes a good one grab mark. Miss ::)
53 - 68
-
1.5 to us to one goal from outside 50. We should be in front. Now the blues get a point.
53 - 69
-
tank going beautifully so far :cheers
-
and now they get a goal ::)
53 - 75
-
White out of the centre and hits Vickery 48m out. Poster :P
54 - 75
-
Tambling on 50 misses as well.
55 - 75
-

Blues run it up to Fev.
56 - 81
-
All the play for no result and then Fev goals......... we have won this game just not on the score board??????
-
Yep you guessed it another point. 1.8 for the quarter :banghead
Blues run it up to Fev.

Richmond 3.4 6.6 7.14-56
Carlton 3.3 9.8 13.9-87
Goals: Riewoldt 2, Nahas 2, Deledio, Morton, Newman
-
Sydney getting pumped by Essendon is also a good result ... Foley to Swans rumour still about.
-
21 scoring shots to 23.....31 points behind. :help
-
They have a one dimensional forward line, we have a no dimensional forward line.
-
They have a one dimensional forward line, we have a no dimensional forward line.
LOL.... :thumbsup We actually have a non-dimensional team.
-
I would hate to see this turn into a ten goal blow out.....Cmon tigers hang tough.
-

Post Vickery Nahas

Vickery marks again playing front. Goal :gotigers
69 - 95
-
Hislop has had a shocker. Stuffed up and gone to ground all day. That was a clever kick by Cuz.
Newy finds Postie who goes long for a point.
70 - 95
-
Cotch to Graham on HF. Long to Jack. Should be 50m for knocking the ball away but he doesn't get it. Goal :gotigers
76 - 95
-
Fev throws an arm but Jacko blocks it. 50m to jacko.
-
Cuz has been brilliant. Too bad he's 30 and we're crap :-\
Carlton are flooding now. Thorton stops our forward foray. Kreuzer seals it
76 - 102
-
Edwards to Cuz who delays handpass to free King. Goal. Not giving up.
82 - 102
-
Good effort today from the boys. If we had kicked straight wed win by 6 goals anyway ... we are 1 week closer to the extra pick we need and 1 week closer to getting the best picks we can. :cheers
-
Lukey 3 bounces to Lids who slams a long goal :gotigers
88 - 103

jacko switched the play and it when to no one.Fev gets his 9th.
89 - 109
-
Bucks calling Lids lazy again. Just working on natural ability. He's had 99 minutes on ground out of 120. He should be working harder with a 30 min rest over the game.
-
Final Score
Richmond 3.4 6.6 7.14 12.17-89
Carlton 3.3 9.8 13.9 16.13-109
Goals: Riewoldt 3, Nahas 2, Vickery 2, Deledio, Morton, Newman, King
-
Scores aside we won that game but the hand balls...... I really think Jade won't get the job as he seems to be playing off Wallace's game plan... IMO.
-
Possies:
370 - 352 (172k, 198h)
Cousins 35
Jackson 32
Deledio 29
Cotchin 26
Tuck 25
Newman 23
Tambling 19
King 17
McGuane 16
Tackles: 72 - 81
Hitouts: 30 - 42
-
Anyone wanna rate Edwards, King and Hislop?
yeah ill rate them. stuffin P A T H E T I C.
3 things about today
im content about the result. going to plan perfectly.
secondly im glad jade cant get it right & win games because we dont want another geesh on our hands and quite frankly he is rubbish.
thirdly those 3 you mentioned Ramps are the reason why we are ridiculed and laughed at by most in the league.
Great day for Post and Vickery. Now where r those fools a month ago who said not to play Vickery. NFI some of you on here
Edit: swear filter avoidance
-
The highlight for me was that goal by Deledio in the last quarter....Great team goal.
-
Scores aside we won that game but the hand balls...... I really think Jade won't get the job as he seems to be playing off Wallace's game plan... IMO.
Unfortunately it's the scores that count. Riewoldt needs some to settle him down before going for goal like Cambo used to do to Richo. Was it really windy or are our skills simply shocking?

the wind was very bad, wrappers all over the ground in the first half.
That being said dont think it made a difference dont think it makes a difference to Jack. He needs some direction on how to kick.
-
Bucks calling Lids lazy again. Just working on natural ability. He's had 99 minutes on ground out of 120. He should be working harder with a 30 min rest over the game.
Lids was head to head with Judd for most of the second half and i would say came out on top with him having 12 disposals and a goal to 10 diposals for Judd. I wouldnt call that lazy, Tagging Judd is no easy task.
-

I got the feeling from what Bucks said today he would love to coach Lids. He obviously was paying close attention to Lids' game. Lids was very good today and had the better of Gibbs and then Judd but Bucks obviously saw what Lids needs to do to step up from the good player he is to an elite player in the Judd/Ablett class. More constructive criticism albeit very direct than bagging Lids as such.
-
WAT, i dont think that the Jade is using TW's game plan, i just think the boys are struggling to lose it after 4 1/2 years! Daniel, give credit where credit is due, Kingys game was far fron "effin pathetic". He won his position today. Pleased with the kids, Post and Vickers are going to be real good players for us.
Plenty of positives today :thumbsup
-
Fevola....
Do you reckon he even knew whether the Blues were winning out there today?
One of the most selfish players I have ever seen.
Sure he chased and put pressure on today, but it was only so he could get a career best.
Blues have no chance of any real success with him in the side.
-
Enjoyed the game - at least we did not get smashed.
I regards to calling Lids lazy - I thought he was on Judd for abit of the game which is not easy. He finshed with 30 touches, 2 goals which is not too shabby.
Vickery showed a bit leading + Post looks the goods, thank Geez they are playing him as a forward. If Reiwoldt learns how to kick he will be a good player. Along with Morton, Nahas etc. if looks like we might have a forward line in the future.
Good that Cotchin got lots of it. Thought Tambling was not bad.
---
King, Polo, McGaune, Edwards, Hislop, Moore really need to do abit more.
Some of Thursfeilds efforts vs. Fev when the ball hit the ground was not flash.
-
Moore was injured you drop kick
-

being saying this all his career, no one listens to me, hopefully they will listen to buckley who is spot on
however , deledio in the second half did a real good job on judd
-
I thought we showed some really good signs yesterday, so much better than the week before. Post and Vickory look to have a future. I must admit until yesterday i was a little worried about Vickory.
Also what do you guys think of Rance at the moment? I personally think he has gone backward, his kicking yesterday was really bad and he seems to turn like the Queen Mary at the moment to, just doesn't seem like the same guy that was playing earlier in the year. Time to go back to Coburg for mine. Thoughts?
Edwards can go to.
But all in all, i think we were ok.
-
Very impressed with Vickery and Post, Rance will be ok just needs to string a few together.
-
Moore was injured you drop kick
Moore, MGaune, Thursfild.. what ever
all the same
thought Rance was not bad
-
Great results for the PRO-TANKERS
And for me ...well.... I am just sick of losing.
Was very impressed with Vickery and Post, especially Vickery. Last coupple of weeks, he really has looked liked he belonged
Thought Jake King was good - he won the contest against SImpson, who usually playes well against us
Really enjoyed the Deledio -v- Judd match (after the Jackson/Judd match up was a disaster :banghead). Thought Lids efforts on Judd was great. Perhaps we should look at doing that more often, set the kid the challenge of playing on a gun player? It seems to bring out the best in him IMV
Tend to agree Ramps, I though the Rance's disposal at times was very poor.
And I will hold my tongue regarding our captain and his constant desire to run around in circles :banghead
-
He needs to get Cuz to show him how to do it properly.
-

With what I am seeing with his disposal it is probably the reason why he was still around at our second round draft pick when he was touted to go higher.
Still he is only young and for that reason since this year is gone I would be playing him all year in the top side.
-
Out of interest here's Rhett's post on BF:
I know that several board members foudn the loss against Carlton not as disheartening as most.
They felt that the youngsters in the game stepped up quite well.

After seeing the blues go around against us and their over reliance on Fev, they are going to have to pull their socks up big time if they are going to make the finals let alone have an impact on them.
-
Carlton v Richmond coaches' votes (Rawlings and Ratten)
10 Brendan Fevola (Carl)
8 Ben Cousins (Rich)
4 Chris Judd (Carl)
3 Daniel Jackson (Rich)
2 Andrew Carrazzo (Carl)

Totally agree and one other thing, imagine that side without Judd and Fev but more so Judd...... gee they fell on their feet getting him didn't they!!!
