Pete (from 1611 AM)

I got on at start of year at 14/1, thought they would be the best odds I would get all year so jumped on.
Things have gone a bit pear shapped from then, still haven't drifted too far.

Wide open race the VFL flag imo, hard to win from bottom 4 but can still be done me thinks .....

The team won't line up like that surely. Rance off the bench to CHB which allows Cleve to play forward and frees up Meyer away from a KPP. The Burgers should have less trouble manufacturing goals with Cleve and Morton back in the forward line.

Very good return by Morgan after his broken leg at the end of last year
Was listed in the best last week in his first match back and this week gets BOG in only his 2nd match
Hopefully he can get his place back in the seniors for the finals, certainly is on track to do so
He did look promising prior to the broken leg

Poor last 10 minutes by Coburg to allow Sandy to kick the last 3 goals into the breeze.

Tivs, Rance, Collins, King (before going off) got a fair bit of it in the 1st qtr.

Rance to go to Holland. Rawlings wants them to go deep to Cleve in the square. Not stuffing around with it outside forward 50.

King was still struggling with his quad at the quarter time huddle.

Meyer is out injured. Failed a fitness test this morning. Remember he hurt his ankle last week yet played the game out.

2nd quarter has started.

After 5 minutes of scrappy play there's a point to Sandy. Coburg mucking around with it.

The commentators said Hyde has been good so far.

Another point to Sandy. Coburg looked to have stopped.

Rance should play next week, the kid has put in a good 1st season at Coburg. Games against Freo & Melbourne will be a good start for the kid.

Tivers MUST play before the season is out.

I never rated his as a great player but anyone who puts in efforts like he has all season, deserves a send off.

If we can play mcmahon, morton and edwards after their recent shockers i dont see any reason why we cant play tivers in a send off game

The season for Richmond will be officially over tomorrow with a loss so agree Ramps we should play Rance and Gus in the last two games.

Tiv got a fantastic wrap by Jade Rawlings in the after match today and again won the best player award.

His attitude and leadership at Coburg this year have been absolutely fantastic and first rate.

While he may be past AFL he is a quality person and deserves a send off is he is going to retire.

Cause we should be playing kids who might be good players one day - Connors, White, Edwards types instead of hacks like Tivedale.

Not fair or accurate to label Tivendale a hack but I agree with your reasoning.  Get him to announce his retirement prior to the last game and give him a drive-around farewell lap.  Recognizes his achievements and efforts while not compromising the structure of the team.  He is one of the league's most successful rookie-listed players and his efforts/performance this year have only served to highlight the type of player and person he is.

I sure he is a loverly person as he walks his around the park of Malvern on Tuesday afternoons but the fact remains he is a poor footballer.

We have many young kids on the list, something we have not had in a long time. We need to develop them. I would rather see Rance, Meyer or Collins (to list mearly 3) rather tha Tivvers.

Let him win the VFL grand final.

Don't agree.  Has been a serviceable footballer for the majority of his career.  Anyone that carves out a career in the AFL playing almost 200 games is not a poor footballer - I don't care who they played for, what position they played, or what era they played in.

Couldn't agree with you more TFL.

Greg Tivendale has been sensational for Coburg in 2008.

Hope he wins the Liston Trophy - that is how good he's been :thumbsup

He has beenalmost our worst player in the last 10 years - one of the darkest decades in the clubs history.

Lets give Ray Hall and Andy Krakouer a send off game as well  :P

Sorry Bentleigh, but that's simply not true
If he was almost our worst player over the last 10 years then he wouldn't have played close to 200 games and STILL BE ON THE LIST!!!

Hi Guys - first of all thanks for listening to the broadcast  :bow

We had a radio meeting on Saturday to decide the Grand Final calling team and we talked about Saturday's call.

Even though I haven't heard the tape yet, I had a feeling we put in a S*** one on Saturday - the team didn't gel as well as two weeks ago - we need were out of rythym from right the start  :banghead

Anyway with the tapes they are normally out of the desk so we don't hear the AM Radio or Net feed.

Can you guys pinpoint the audio problems please? Just want to be able to fix the problem before the finals.

Also were you happy with the SMS Talk-Back? Just doing whatever we can do to help the coverage for you guys.

By the way Casey v Coburg on Saturday is a TV and Radio (3XX) Game.

Pete. (From 1611 AM 3XX)

Match Report Vs. Sandringham
By Glenn Robertson
coburgtigers.com.au

The premiership quarter saw the Burgers outscore their opponents six goals to one and help set up a great victory. Greg Tivendale was simply outstanding for the Burgers booting six goals in a best on ground display.

The Burgers kicked with the breeze in the first term, but didn’t take full advantage of it taking a slender ten point lead into the first change.

¼ Time: Coburg 4.5 (29)   Sandringham 3.1 (19)

The Zebras really got on top in the second term and controlled the quarter kicking ten scoring shots to the Burgers solitary goal. Coburg’s effective disposal rate was down in the second quarter and Sandringham capitalised on it.

Alex Rance and Andrew Horne both found a lot of the footy, and had it not been for the efforts of these boys and a couple of others in the backline the halftime margin could have blown out even more. As it was the Zebras took a nineteen point lead into the main break.

½ Time: Coburg 5.5 (35)   Sandringham 8.6 (54)

It was very important the Burgers built a lead heading into the final term, and that they did! The boys made full use of the wind in the third term, as they piled on six majors and kept Sandringham to just the one goal. Greg Tivendale played another blinder of a game playing across the wing and through the forward line. His opponents couldn’t keep with him as he finished with a fantastic haul of six goals. Tivendale is now an odds-on favourite of winning the Liston Medal.

Chris Hyde and Paul Shelton both collected a swag of possessions playing on ball for the majority of the match.

¾ Time: Coburg 11.8 (74)   Sandringham 9.8 (62)

The Seagulls pushed hard in the final term kicking four majors, but the Burgers stood tall and added another three themselves to finish with a spirited six point win. Big man Angus Graham was solid around the ground and won his majority of knock outs in the ruck, while Alex Rance also highly impressed the crowd, with his ball use and courage.

Next week the Burgers head to Casey Fields to take on the Casey Scorpions, the game starts at 1.10pm, while the Reserves start at 10.20am

Coburg Tigers  4.5 5.5 11.8 14.10 (94)
Sandringham   3.1 8.6  9.8  13.10 (88)

Goal Kickers: G. Tivendale 6, C. Collard 2, J. King, N. Caruso, P. Shelton, A. Horne, C. Hughes, J. Oakley-Nicholls

Best Players: G. Tivendale, A. Rance, A. Horne, P. Shelton, C. Hyde, A. Graham

RESERVES

The Burger Reserves continued on their merry way defeating the Zebras by seventy three points. From quarter time onwards the win was never in doubt, the boys are still yet to drop a game for the season and are obviously sitting atop of the ladder.

Travis Dulic and Josh Jones kicked four and three goals respectively, while Jason Morgan and Rob Trajkovski were the best for the Burgers.

Coburg Tigers   5.5 9.9 12.13 16.14 (110)
Sandringham    2.1 3.2   3.4     5.7 (37)

Goal Kickers: T. Dulic 4, J. Jones 3, N. Lynch 2, N. Cattapan 2, P. Currie, R. Trajkovski, J. Morgan, B. Clifton, T. Abdallah

Best Players: J. Morgan, R. Trajkovski, J. Jones, M. Davis, P. Currie, D. Rayson

Stats from EOTT

Tivs      38 disposals, 6 goals. Liston Medal chance and Rawlings says it was the best ever individual performance he has ever seen in the VFL.

Cogs     30 disposals

Gus      15 disposals as the sole ruckman

Howat   15 disposals in a half before injuring his hip.

Collins    8 tackles - "Is still in a steep learning curve about what’s required to succeed at the game’s highest level"

Collard   "Is a real X-factor up forward for us.... extremely talented, but needs to add more pressure skills to his game."
