This may not be the most popular thread getting around but im putting my neck on hte block anyway!
I feel sorry for the bloke, his family and friends. Who needs this sort of attention over what is, essentially, a game? I know you sign up for heat but this is over the top and no one can foresee this happening! Can you honestly remember anything like this happening before? I realise he made footy his career but alot of people do as it is all they know, but not many people cop this type of crap in their job!

Nonsense.
I will give you 2 1/2 million reasons why we shouldn't feel sorry for Terry. ($500,0000 a year for five years)
I have walked away from a couple of highly paid jobs after discovering I didn't have what was required.
Terry will survive, a lucrative careeer in the Media awaits.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Terry's salary is one of the cheaper salaries for a senior coaching role in the AFL
-
terry made is bed, he can sleep in it and have nightmares for ever the thievingprick
he has stolen 5 years of rfc development and life
he has definately not earnt his money and should reinburs the club and walk away
he said , and he said this last week, if he felt he has lost the group he will walk away
WELL WHY THE F ISNT HE WALKING??????????
HE HAS LOST THE GROUP AND THE WHOLE WORL KNOWS BUT HE AINT WALKING!!!! WHAT A LIAR , DAMN LIAR
sugar was smart, he noticed these comments last week thus would have thought if we let him the board and the world know , wallace will walk because he SAID HE WOULD!!!!!
but wallace stays because if he walks he loses financially. and we cant afford to pau him out
wallace has us by the balls and is a .....u know what!
-
GR12, I feel sorry for people who have been thrown on the breadline because of this recession. I feel sorry for people who have done what they have been told to do by the Australian Government and put their money in super, only to watch their life savings evaporate before their very eyes, thanks to other people's mistakes.
Meanwhile, out of our bucket of money, 'marquee' club imports such as Nathan Brown. Troy Simmonds and TW have pulled $500,000 a year from our coffers and given us diddly squat.
My heart bleeds for them, it really does.
-
I certainly feel for his family, especially his kids. It isn't their fault what's happened
-

I DONT SEE ANYONE blaming his wife and kids or targeting them. if ppl do do that they are simply morons. but his wife must now know she may cop stuff like your husband is a liar, becaus ehe is, it has been proven over the past few days.
on 3aw last week he said he would walk if he feels he has lost the group.... well?

l got feelings for any coach that is put under so much preasure
maybe Terry staying on to honor his side of the contract is going to solve some major problems out in the playing group
l even go as far as offering him a 1 year extension to get the job done
our list is not that bad & have shown they can play in the past but its obvious some players have a problem as you can clearly see it in early games the childish errors they were making, Newman being a main offender.
The Board has not sacked Terry for the fact they are making a stand against such players. The Richmond football club will be better for taking this action even if players have to be retired & traded. Newman is stuck on a contract so his in a world of hurt ;D
-
I also feel for TW. He has done what he said he would do and attempt to rebuild the club and turned over the majority of the list. It is an slur on the club that the players he kept from that period remain some of our worst.
I don't think the list is as bad as people make out. The core of our team is still developing without any leadership or mid-aged players for guidance. These young players will have to be our leaders and take the tags, pressure and pain so that the players we draft after team can be given the time and protection to develop unhindered. Players like Lids, Bling, Foley etc would have been 3rd or 4th in line in other teams but in ours they recieve the best opponents every week.
This why we aren't performing not because the rebuild has not worked. We will have to wait another 3-5 years before we have the mid-age players to compete with the rest of the competition.
TW has done his job but because he has not got us immediate success it will be the next coach/s ::) that will claim the credit.
No one deserves the constant pressure he is enduring especially when he has done his job, allowed us to begin to rebuild and played the youth.
Sad really and with rabid impatient supporters like we seem to have it is a miracle he was able achieve what he did and to see out his contract.

I honestly don't feel sorry for Terry, as if he can't get his team to do what he wants them to do there has to be something wrong.
Or is it a case that they are doing exactlly what he wants them to do and this is the problem as it is a crap game plan.
I really don't know, but as a coach he knew he would be in the firering line. So he has to take it all on the chin.
And get on with what he has got and make the most of it while he is still here.
-
The thing I feel most saddened about is not necessarily TW but the media and Tiger supporters frenzy to sack and disgrace any coach we have at the first signs of underperformance. :o No other club invokes such negative emotion from the football world consistently as Richmond does which continues to make us the most unattractive club to coach in the league.
If I was a coach and had a choice of going to any club in the league with the same list, I would choose the Tigers last because history shows me that eventually you will be crucified regardless of who or what you have done.
It's the reason why we will get a nobody to coach us next year which is the saddest thing of all :'(

Please.
TW has had five years.

It was ALWAYS going to take longer than 5 years
Our kids from 2004 are still years away from their peak age where they can be the core the side is built around
I think we're at a very similar stage now as Hawthorn actually was in 2004.
-
I think we're at a very similar stage now as Hawthorn actually was in 2004.
Yes we are.
-
First and foremost I feel sorry for us, the supporters.
Coaches, players, admin come and go, we deal with it longer than any one of them.
We are the Richmond football clubas much as anyone representing it at the present time.
That said I have sympathy for Wallace as a person, not for a second do I beleive the total crap that some go on with.
I don't believe he came just for the money, I truely believe he came for the challenge of trying to help this great club and believe his sincerity in what he says.
Coaching as some mentioned wouldn't be an easy job and if you had a choice the way the media and the supporters carry on you would put Richmond down the list, that's for sure. So Kuedos to terry for picking us in that instance also.
If the last half of the year can see significant improvement under Wallace, I think it will. I say give him a 1 year deal, even if only for the sole reason of stabilising the place and people perceptions of the RFC.
Of course there will be divided opinion and I expect no less, but believe more good than harm could come from a move like this.
Yes I have done a backflip of sorts as I have stated Finals or bust, but this absolute hysteria has got me thinking what's the point of change just for the sake of change.
That is obviously baswed on the last half of the season mind you.

You need to check your history.
TW picked us only after the sydney job (that he had been promised) went to Paul Roos.
It certainly will be interesting to see what he does when he is told next year he will not be at Richmond.
A real test of his character. If he walks he has none, if he stays he will be showing something that I haven't seen yet.

The only ones suffering will be the players in the future saying they wished they could have played in a premiership which every footballer craves. The Richmond players not playing for the coach, the pride of the jumper for which is the club & the supporters will be a blight on them forever. l got a feeling we will see the real Richmond football club playing this weekend.
-
Didn't he have the opportunity to chuck his hat in the Hawks ring ???
-
I think we're at a very similar stage now as Hawthorn actually was in 2004.
Yes we are.
mmmm
We are actually ahead of where hawthorn were in 2004 as far as young A and B grade talent,
but, thats when pelchen came over and dunstall took the raines and the new ceo started and they got very lucky with buddy and roughead.
You guys are dreaming if you think rfc can repeat the time line of the hawks success.
The review of the footbal department will give us a few clues as to if indeed we are serious in changing the fortunes of this once proud great club,
-
just on the topic of wallace, I am quite pleased to see that he actually cares,
pity it took 5 years for him to drop his guard.
It will be interesting to see how the players respond this week. If Terry has come accross as sincere I expect us to win, if terry has lost the players and has come accross as selfish I expect another gaspergate performance and a nice BIG PUMPING.
TBH I expect a pumping

You need to check your history ;D
Wallace left Bulldogs end 2002 thinking he had the Sydney coaching job but Paul Roos was wanted by the players
Wallace went into the media
he applied for the Richmond coaching job after Richmond approached him in 2004 & started coaching in 2005
Now thats history ;D

I have to agree with CUB.....I feel for us supporters most of all.
How much more heart break and embarrisment must we endure.
-
I certainly feel for his family, especially his kids. It isn't their fault what's happened
I DONT SEE ANYONE blaming his wife and kids or targeting them. if ppl do do that they are simply morons. but his wife must now know she may cop stuff like your husband is a liar, becaus ehe is, it has been proven over the past few days.
on 3aw last week he said he would walk if he feels he has lost the group.... well?
Just because no none is blaming his wife or kids doesnt mean that they dont feel the pain that this has done to a very important person in their life. The media never seem to care about the effects they have on others involved. Bad analogy coming up so excuse me.............Matty Johns?
-
just on the topic of wallace, I am quite pleased to see that he actually cares,

wtf r u talking about , wallace actually cares!!! for whom, himself or the team.
what he actually did was drop his guard and expose what we all knew, THAT HE ONLY CARES FOR HIMSELF AND HIS CAREER!!!
wake up blaisee, you must be terrys love child, lover or both!
just accept the fact that he has failed and is a liar, so much for saying last week he will walk if he knows he has lost the players...well???

one/ matty johns did nothing wrong, the only person who can judge him is his wife and no one else
two/ who cares about how terry or his family feels, what about all us suffering true real rfc supporters , not pretenders like him
he said he had unfinished business at theclub when he was made coach, he was out to destroy us, not rebuild us!!!
we r worse off now than b4. thanx terry, unfinished business , bs
edited to correct quote
-
one/ matty johns did nothing wrong,
Matty Johns did nothing legally wrong.
Morally wrong is a whole other issue.
one/ the only person who can judge him is his wife and no one else
and his former team mates and his friends and all of his viewing public on a Thurs night
:help

you have proved once again that you have no stuffin idea
wallace actually cares.......hahahahahahaha
wallet cares about wallet. not you, not me, not the players only himself.
get that through your thick head buddy
-
Wallace actually cares about the club
his got the option to walkout with a full wallet ;D but has unfinished buisness
l think you see some players giving a bigger effort as the public & media are aware & watching them closely

danny boy, or is it jack?
Either way, if you ( or both of you) had half a brain you would be dangerous.
Wallace has nothing to gain personally by staying on. He will be paid out regardless.

rubbish
weather its money or pride or both he is staying on for the benefit of only one person HIMSELF
he doesnt want to leave because he would be seen to have left 2 clubs before the end of his contract.
he would rather see us suffer than be dealt with that kind of humiliation.

Directly or indirectly this effects his family
Selective memory but let's not forget a month ago when Pagan opened his mouth before engaging his brain and said he'd coach the Tigers if the job became available forgetting that he currently coaches TW"s son in the TAC cup.... and that wouldn't effect the kid - indirectly?
Kids can be cruel and we have no idea what sort of tripe his kids are putting up with at school because of this crap - but its called targeting
But you are correct if people doing that they are morons but I betcha someone out there would be doing it

I have the same feeling as I have picked us to win in another thread.
It will be good to watch us play as a team and for our guernsey for once.
All we need is a little more senior leadership out there and we'll be home.
-

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
you sure about that???
i remember Campo approaching Spud and asking him to resign as well. :thumbsup
This is the clubs darkest hour since the rattle your tin days make no mistake about that.
and thats only off field, what about on field.
on field we have gone from bad to worse. Our list well ill reserve my judgement when a new coach comes in beause this current loser has a gameplan that is absolute disgrace

you really think so, iirc, even during spuds last yr things were not this bad
terry started to improve things buthe turned full circle and smashed the train again. thats what happens when he tries to fix the train wreck, band aids dont work
he should have written off that train wreck and build a new train from scratch, now his rebuilt train wreck is a bigger wreck
lol terry should win tool of the year, 5 yrs actually
serves him right , because no matter how much i hate spud, terry should never have mocked him the way he did when he arrived at the club. now he is eating his own possum poo

Dumbest thread ever!!
Didnt stop you from putting two posts onto this thread though!
-
You know you have to respect the courage shown by Wallace and even our leadership, its the first time since G.Richmond and Wilson that we didn't give a stuff what the crap thought. Makes you want to tie up a sad fos pretend losers up and take them hog tied with baseball bats around to Wallaces house in the nth eastern burbs so he can relive the stress - starting with...............(LOL)
-
You might find that Terry has the tiges by the balls, due to conditions in his contract.
Expires round 12 ;)
-
You know I believe they should let the world know that Terry wont be coaching next year at Richmond (round 12)but should stay until the end of the year to develop the list for next year without the pressure and stress - the pressure would be back on the players!
This would show leadership, courage and give us a backbone that we had when G.Richmond and Wilson were running the show.
-
there will be a mass walk out if he is there an extra day after round 12

How many times have you said Terry is gone by Round "x" in the past few years?
A stopped clock is still right twice a day

I know I will be going nowhere no matter what happens.
My love for the club will keep me here.
And I will support and whinge about thing's from time to time but after it is all said and done.
I have Yellow and Black running through me.
And I don't give a stuff who knows about it.
