Next up is Shane Edwards.
Played 15 games in his third year to take his career tally to 47. Began 2009 in the seniors playing a new role on a half-back stuff but was out of the side from rounds 3 to 6 and 8 to 11. Finished off returning to the seniors under Rawlings for the final 11 rounds.

How did we all rate Edwards' year?
-
I gave him a 5.
The reason was because I have not seen enough of him.
But of what I did, I thought him to be okay.
Knowing he has years ahead of him to improve.
So I would like him to stay with us for a little longer.
-
He was no way our worst but still an average year from an average player
toothpicks should no longer be allowed to play in our team, especially ones that get brushed aside as Edwards does.
how can we compete with the likes of Geelong with Edwards in your team.
Trade or bulk him up at least 5-10 kg's & let him play as a roaming forward
4/10
-
I gave him a 7, which is probably a touch too high, however it was more in regards to the 2nd half of the season
Not all players can be superstars in their first 3 years, especially at such a light build
Regardless, his 2nd half of the season he showed real promise and I'm sure he will build on that next year
-
6 and like you Infamy, based mainly around his second half of the season.
-
Seriously! Edwards had a terrible year with 1, maybe 2 good/fair games.
Trouble with our club and more so supporters is we RATE our players to high!
I'm happy enough to see him go around next year, mostly because we have so many others that have to go before him, BUT if in his 4th year at the club he doesn't show considerable improvement than it's game over for mine.
3/10
-
l dont rate him at all
his not worth talking about & will be found out with Hardwick
-
did well with the body he has...
but he kinda doesnt have an afl body...
-
Doesn't seem to stop someone like Nahas
Can easily see him filling out with another 5kg over the next year or two and becoming a similar build to his namesake in Tyson Edwards, Shane is even an inch taller than him
-
Terrible first half got better in the 2nd half of the year
Will be interested to see how he goes under Hardwick's game plan of going in and getting the hardball when it is your turn. Under Wallace he woudn't tackle just coral - we don't need blokes coralling we need 'em tackling

Spot on! Nothing makes my blood boil more while watching the Tigers when we don't run at the ball carrier and try and tackle. Coralling should have gone with TW.

Shane Edwards = Cameron Howatt
Opposition players must giggle when they see Edwards line up next to them.
I remember a game where some on here said he played well. Yes against the Pies and he played on Leon Davis who kicked 4 goals.
if thats a good game, Id hate to think what they say is a bad game then.
Our club is littered with his type. I would take Nahas any day of the year before this dud
-
I don't think Edwards should be a small backman but rather a small forward - perhaps a defensive forward. Where-ever he plays he definitely needs to bulk up quickly even if it somehow reduces his pace somewhat. He just can't stick a tackle and gets pushed off the contest far too easily. You can afford one or two skillful/evasive players of a smaller stature but even these are usually much stronger than they look which I believe Edwards is not.
The gym should be a second home to our list this preseason even more-so than the track

Agree 100% and that scares me that I am agreeing with you TM..... :thumbsup
-
trade hime or delist him!
-
Wallace trying to reinvent Edwards as a backman was not the best move.
-
I think you could almost say that what Wallace done for Richmond in total wasn't too good.
-
6 for me.
First half of the year very disappointing but showed plenty more once Wallet left the building.
Just needs concentrated development. He's a commer IMO.
-
2/10
how he can be classified as a half back is beyond me
Trade

thats why we get laughed at as a football club TM.
Edwards as skinny as Nahas yet Nahas can tackle an opponent to the ground and kick the goals.
Edwards should have been traded IMO.
Lethal used to tell his players when they played us "we were like an egg, crush them and they are all mushy inside"
Thats because we have players like Edwards in our team
get rid of him or play him on the HFF at the very least

him*
Edwards was drafted in 06 and was SA #2 best mid behind Gibbs
he has potential to be a good small forward
not even started his 4th pre-season
-
-1 for mine and he was lucky to get that, he has potential to be a good jocky and thats about it. Schulz and Hughes had potential to be good forwards as well, big or small the three are the same....... ::) ::)
-
Schultz was drafted in 02
Edwards 06

Great so we can look forward to 4 more years of pain watching him like we did Schulz?? Look he showed a bit under Rawlings and I will give him that but he needs to lift by another 40% to even stay in the side. Lets hope he has it in him next year.
