Could be the end of Cousins!
Possible retirement.

Could be the end of Cousins!
Possible retirement.
Wouldn't be surprised.
-
Must be big and bad, hoping it gets lost while all the Storm stuff is around.
Or it could be nothing

Harf said it involves Cousins.
Nothing sinister, they say he could be ready to pull the plug.

Don't let the media win Ben stick fat mate

Richmond's Ben Cousins likely to be late withdrawal

SPECULATION is mounting that Ben Cousins will be a late withdrawal from Richmonds team to confront Fremantle on Sunday.
It is believed Cousins is in danger of missing the trip despite being named as an addition to the squad last night.
The latest murmurs have fuelled focus on Cousins’ long-term future at Richmond.

Richmond forced to deny Cousins retirement rumours
STAFF REPORTER
April 23, 2010 - 1:39PM
Richmond has again been forced to pour cold water on rumours that AFL veteran Ben Cousins is retiring.
In response to a series of talkback calls on radio, a Richmond media spokeswoman said there wasn't a shred of truth in the speculation.
"I wouldn't even comment on it," the spokeswoman said today.
Cousins, 31, returns to the Richmond senior line-up this weekend for the daunting away match against Fremantle at Subiaco on Saturday night.
The recovering drug addict was one of four Richmond players suspended for player misbehaviour after the round-three loss to the Sydney Swans.

Richmond refutes Ben Cousins rumours • Mark Stevens

UPDATE 2.30pm:
BEN Cousins will be in Perth to play Fremantle on Sunday but won’t be travelling with bulk
The Herald Sun can reveal rumours of his absence from the game against Fremantle on Sunday may have stemmed from a leaked itinerary that showed Cousins was not with the main party.
Cousins is flying with as little as two or three other Richmond players
Today's rumours had nothing to with reports last night on The Footy Show that Cousins handed teammate Luke McGuane a sleeping pill, playing a role in the defender snoozing through his alarm and missing a recovery session.
Cousins played in the VFL last week after being suspended from AFL action for one week and has been seen to have done his time for the involvement in the night gone wrong at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel.
The veteran midfielder has had issues with his body, missing Round 2 against the Bulldogs with a knee injury.
Richmond last night confirmed Cousins had been suspended from Round 4 because he gave a prescription sleeping tablet to teammate Luke McGuane.
The Tigers had stated Cousins, McGuane and Dean Polo were suspended for a week and Daniel Connors for eight weeks over a late-night drinking session after the side’s loss to the Swans in Round 3.
But it emerged Richmond acted against Cousins because he gave McGuane Temazepam, which is used to help treat insomnia.
Tigers officials were alerted when McGuane failed to show at the team’s recovery session the next morning, such was the effect of the tablet.
McGuane had not consumed alcohol the previous night.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick told media last week that Cousins, McGuane and Polo were suspended for not acting quick enough to control Connors.

Club telling porkies again.
he didnt have a knee injury in round 2, we all know that.
and yes, he wanted to give it away after round 1..
Club gave him a week off to think about it.

If this is the real reason the club suspended him, then it's hardly a beat up but I am surprised that we're getting it second thad through the journos article.
Who confirmed it from the club as source is not named here?
Very foolish of Cousins to be sharing prescribed medicines with other players.
Add this to punching Connors and it's not hard to see why he's been suspended.

unless the sleeping tab was filled with herion, ice or coke what is the problem...

Its seems that the RFC cant get there stories right ::)
This isnt what Hardwick said at the press conference at Punt Road after the weekend in Sydney.
More along the lines that"" Cousins should of acted earlier in regards to Connors ""were the exact words.
There is way too many lies out of Punt Rd this year :banghead :banghead :banghead

lets hope he isnt sharing bag washes with anyone else. :lol

I can understand, given Cousins history and the recent persecution by the media as to why that did not get out initially. It is not that relevant but gives though with an agenda plenty of ammo. Some things need to be kept in house.
There would be plenty that happens at other clubs that does not see the light of day in the press, it's called damage control.
The problem is that is at least one person at the club who is a low life rat stuff. Someone putting their own pathetic need to feel important above the good of the club and the sooner they are weeded out, named publicly and ostracised the better. It makes me sick that there is someone either in the employment of the club or someone closely associated with the club who calls themselves a supporter, who has an agenda of their own that conflicts with what the club is trying to achieve.
It's the same old problem that a small element of pure scum is doing their best to cause disharmony and if they were hit by a car I would not feel one iota of sorrow for them.
Perhaps a collection should be organised to hire a PI to find the maggot
-
Whats of interest with all of this is that the coach says the reason for been dropped and then 3 days later , the club say something completely different. ::)
They may as well get there stories right ::)
-
Perhaps the coach originally said what they wanted the outside world to know, but three days later due to some ars.ewipe telling someone in the media otherwise, the club were backed into a corner where they had to come clean.
Besides, I don't think Hardwick lied, just didn't tell the whole story. Big difference.
Do you know who the filthy turd trying to undermine the club is Jack?

Mate, the club dont tell the truth, only tell you what the want you to hear.
Also, Cousins DIDNT have a knee issue in Round 2.
If you want to know whats really happening at Punt Road, buy the Age, its more accurate..
People bag Caro, but she is more right than wrong
-
All organisations, including sporting clubs only tell us what they want us to hear.
Most of us can live that that, as there is normally a good reason for it.
If cousins didnt have a knee injury, stiff poo. If newman didn't have a hammy stiff poo.
Caro may be right with her inside knowledge.
This I see this as a problem.
Her source needs to be eliminated.
Again, I ask, do you know who the filthy turd trying to undermine the club by leaking this info is?

C'mon Jack spill ur guts and have your first effective post stat and tell us the name of the turd.

All clubs talk to the media on a daily basis, get over it !

All clubs talk to the media, wow what a revelation.
All clubs only tell the media certain things.
Some clubs have low life that tell the media what the club does not want the media to hear.
Are you defending this type of low life Jack?
Do you know who it is?

unless the sleeping tab was filled with herion, ice or coke what is the problem...
because it is illegal to give prescription drugs to anybody
use common sence bird brain
if McGuane died from any sort of allergy, Cousins would face manslaughter & thats a problem

The only people facing charges are 3/4 of our list for impersonating AFL players

Not all sleeping pills are prescription though. Was it a prescription one?

you have to question anyone who drinks straight vodka
-
The the time is now for the rfc to dump cousins
he is worthless to us now
to think it's okay to slip someone a sleeping pill my god what is wrong with him.
His papers are stamped and in my opinion the experiment has nor worked, players have not responded to his leadership and time for him to depart.

yes true but at coburg ramps
he is not our future and if we couldn't find a spot for tuck who has followed all the club rules then sorry cuz but coburg should be his home for this season.
I'd rather see a kid replace him
-
Who are kids learn from on the groung Daniel? We need on field leaders and Cuz is certainly one of those!
-
Last year he was great no doubt about that but IMO slipping someone a temazapan should be great concern for a young club.
He may be suited as an assistant coach for his on field leadership has run it's course.
If anyone can show me how cuz Leadership has improved our players I'm all ears apart from when he pushed lids onto the g that time. A lot has changed in 12 months

You say he "slipped" him one like he spiked his drink
Temazepam are harmless, funny how the usual posters who want him gone are taking an issue with this
Even the panel on the footy show laughed at how ridiculous this story was
-
usual posters? Whenever someone disagrees with you u always have to resort to that old chestnut
Harmless yes I agree but IMO it's not right. Some people do have an allergy to those thing or an addiction in some cases.
It's more than this I think cuz was great last year but this year when we needed him most gas gone missing on and off the field.
Obviously dimma thinks Cuz actions over the last month are a big deal

I wonder if Lyon would be laughing if it was 2 years ago and the club in question was the dees

Only one person would be to blame.
Would love to see him star every week, but that aint going to happen
-
I still think he has a role to play so I hope he plays on!
-
why do we still seem to go from one mini crisis to the next.so far this year we've had endless speculation about Ben,the drunkards in sydney, membership problems, losing our gaming revenue ...just doesnt feel right you know.
i think in order for any organisation to prosper it needs a period of consilidation and that means the sense of crisis being ended.i just dont get that feeling with us yet...hope i'm dead wrong
-
We need a very strong personality to fix the issues.
As did Eddie did at Collingwood, made the club stronger.
Cant see Hardwick be strong when people behind the scences "'pull the strings ""

Is Bennie G that man or can he become that man?

Absolute crap....
Blind Freddie can see there are a number of people in the media (in particular) and people within football who want Ben Cousins' to "fail" and by default quit so they can sit at their collective computers and write "I TOLD YOU SO"
We have now have Tiger supporters turning on him and saying it's been a disaster and they should send him on his way - that's crap too. Because the FACTS are he has been very good for our younger players.
But gee it makes good copy to have people constantly take pot shots at the bloke. What is it called again "gutter journalism" Seriously, did Barrett need to go on the footy show in Thursday with his latest "shock horror" story? No he didn't but he did anyway.
That is the sort of CRAP I am talking about.
-
It doesn't help that there is someone within undermining the club by constantly leaking to the media, just to feed their own pathetic ego (or bank account)
-
Is Bennie G that man or can he become that man?
I would of thought so, although they should of ""cleaned all staff out"' and let Hardwick start from scratch, this hasnt happened.
Benny should of made a immediate impact and changed the entire structure, not just bring in 3 new coaches with Hardwick
Footy clubs are very political and unfortunately staff members do play the political games and then back stab others.
I would say the appointment of Craig Cameron was a mistake.
His involvement with what happened in the last 10 rounds of last years wasnt good for the club.
It also impacted on drafting and impacted on any trade deals we attempted to achieve.
Thats enough from me,
I can see the abusing messages coming soon.
-
But WP isnt this endless speculation now hurting us as a club ?
its keping us in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons......
We would have know when taking ben ,what that ensued..so maybe we need to hang tough on this ..or better still be open and honest where we and ben stands, and that just might end the speculation
-

If Ben kept to himself and didnt go out in public, these stories would never eventuate, not the clubs fault.
I would love to see Ben be BOG every week, ball is in Bens court to perform on the field and shut everyone up, I HOPE HE DOES< but reality suggests it wont happen

jack like the rest of us hang tough, yours as well as eveyone elses input here is much appreciated..it all helps to move forward our club at least from the grass roots
oopd sorry posted under the wrong thread

How many times do they have to end the speculation exactly?
The Club came out on Friday and said the latest batch of rumours are untrue - so what more can they do?
But then again going by what Jack tells us every single person at the Club is lying about everything
IMHO What is hurting this Club is:
1/ People jumping at showdows every time the media goes on one of its crusades against the RFC. People panic and dont (and I'll use your words here) hang tough.
2/ The other is clearly the continued leaks that no-one not even Benny Gale seems to be able to stop. Seriously have to ask how did Barrett get his info? No doubt from the scum bag leak at the club. Actually anyone (non media) who gets stuff from this creep should dob them in to the Club ASAP because that person or persons is/are hurting the club more than anything IMHO
If Ben kept to himself and didnt go out in public, these stories would never eventuate, not the clubs fault.
I would love to see Ben be BOG every week, ball is in Bens court to perform on the field and shut everyone up, I HOPE HE DOES< but reality suggests it wont happen
So Ben should lock himself in the house from the moment training ends until the start of training the next day? Please give me a break.
Have to fly (literally) I have a plane to catch and some stuff in Perth to catch up with ;D
-
Well, thats the price you pay.
Didnt see James Hird going to nightclubs
And Buddy Franklin has just about "'disappeared ""
-
Only one person would be to blame.
Agreed. It's called personal responsibility.
I also am not of the belief that he's been of huge help to our youngsters.
Perhaps he helped a little last year but like Daniel said whatever knowledge he has imparted has more than likely been used up or spat out.
Facts are in Cousins two years at Richmond we'll finish 15th and more than likely 16th.
The biggest benefit to signing him was the financial windfall at the start of last season, aside from that it hasn't really worked as arguably the immediate distractions have been of more hindrance than any lasting benefits or supposed on field leadership.
He'll be moved on at year's end and we can concentrate on the future.
-

Drama queens love to dob Cousins in with the latest BS tidbit of rubbish. So far I have seen or heard NOTHING of significance, absolutely nothing. No crime, no scandal nothing at all, just innuendo, hints, and suggestions of things blown out of all mother stuffing proportion. Ru Paul, Divine and co should head on back to commercial road for the shows and leave Cousins to his football, kk thanks.

If he did lock himself away the media would have a field day making up crap about what he may be up to anyway, he is in a lose lose situation.
I am the first to admit i didnt want him at the club initially but also said i will support him while there, that is what he needs right now support from not just the people at the club but also all RFC supporters. Regardless of my own personal opinion of him, or if his on field leadership is outwardly obvious or not a lot of the younger players are still telling everyone how good it is to have him out there. IMO if he can teach 1 player 1 thing each week he plays it is worth having him at the club.
-
Certain journos have contacts with staff at Tullamarine to give them flight lists so they know who is and isn't on what plane. That's where the latest rumour came from. Ben wasn't to be on the main squad's flight. Caro joked she's out of the loop because she doesn't have these airport contacts.
