UPDATE 2.30pm:
BEN Cousins will be in Perth to play Fremantle on Sunday but won’t be travelling with bulk
The Herald Sun can reveal rumours of his absence from the game against Fremantle on Sunday may have stemmed from a leaked itinerary that showed Cousins was not with the main party.
Cousins is flying with as little as two or three other Richmond players
Today's rumours had nothing to with reports last night on The Footy Show that Cousins handed teammate Luke McGuane a sleeping pill, playing a role in the defender snoozing through his alarm and missing a recovery session.
Cousins played in the VFL last week after being suspended from AFL action for one week and has been seen to have done his time for the involvement in the night gone wrong at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel.
The veteran midfielder has had issues with his body, missing Round 2 against the Bulldogs with a knee injury.
Richmond last night confirmed Cousins had been suspended from Round 4 because he gave a prescription sleeping tablet to teammate Luke McGuane.
The Tigers had stated Cousins, McGuane and Dean Polo were suspended for a week and Daniel Connors for eight weeks over a late-night drinking session after the side’s loss to the Swans in Round 3.
But it emerged Richmond acted against Cousins because he gave McGuane Temazepam, which is used to help treat insomnia.
Tigers officials were alerted when McGuane failed to show at the team’s recovery session the next morning, such was the effect of the tablet.
McGuane had not consumed alcohol the previous night.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick told media last week that Cousins, McGuane and Polo were suspended for not acting quick enough to control Connors.

What they neglected to include was the FACT that they continue to deal in gutter journalism based on unsubstantiated rumours and innuendo
But why ruin a story that's getting plenty of hits
