Bookies (Luxbet) can't split us and North
North Melbourne $1.90
Richmond $1.90
The media commentators though are all tipping North by the sound of it.

Good don't want to be favourites
We are better off mentally not being favourites, history has said we don't normally perform well with the favourites tag ;D

Sucked in by the myth of sh1tboner spirit. I have stated in the past losing to our traditional rivals is one thing but losing to this characterless slop gypsy pathetic penniless footy club to make them feel good about themselves for 5 minutes is just totally unacceptable even more so after some of our good and bad efforts after the first four rounds.
I'm hoping they are mentally and physically drained after a second trip to Perth in 4 weeks. If we can get a jump on them early but given our starts I may be dreaming we may belt them as they will need to play catch up on the back of a long trip. The hard Etihad surface may also help us on the back of the big Subi ground they played on.
The more and more I think about it no excuses for our boys on Sunday against these gypsies. Must win no matter what otherwise it will be one for the books for the sh1tboners. Dimma and the boys must not let this happen.
-
Totally agree Tucker.
Adding to that they are so down on confidence its not funny.
This is a must win game, no excuses
-
First time I will be going to the footy nervous this year.

AFL site is tipping North by 14 points......
QUESTION MARKS
Can North Melbourne continue its great record against Richmond? The Kangaroos have beaten the Tigers in seven of their past 10 clashes, including a 50-point victory when they last met at the MCG in 2010.
Is North youngster Jack Ziebell in need of some time in the VFL? One of the Roos' most highly-rated youngsters, Ziebell managed only 12 touches against Fremantle last Sunday.
How much will the Tigers benefit from getting key defenders Alex Rance and Luke McGuane back from suspension? There's no doubt both were sorely missed in recent games against the Hawks and Magpies, so they will surely enable Richmond to concede fewer points.
PREDICTION
North Melbourne by 14 points

If performances against Collingwood are any indication, we should be able to win. We at least showed some fight (in patches), whereas North embarrassed themselves by hyping up the match and then turning out to be an absolute flop. For some reason though, we always seem to save our worst performances for the games against North. Let's hope that's not the case this time, as surely we can beat a team with ruck stocks as bad as ours, a dud midfield and not much quality at either end of the ground.
-
If there's one thing we need to do this week it is to start well. Come out all fired up and put some scoreboard pressure of our own on them rather than gifting the opposition 3-6 goal starts.
-
Richo tonight on Seven news tipped us to win :thumbsup
-
North will come out primed. They expect to win this. McIntosh basically said us much on TV. Critical that we get a good start. Need to keep an eye on Harvey and Swallow and Goldstein. To state the obvious to win this match Brett, Dusty and Trent have to play like they did against Collingwood. Believe this would be a great game for someone like Batchelor or Conca to make a name for themselves.
-
not confident abt this one, we always get spanked in the games we give ourselves a chance to win especially against this mob.

yep.
that's what makes this so important.
Reminds me of a joke;
Black guy (sorry homos-African American) is going to hospital to have a vasectomy and is wearing a tuxedo.
Nurse asks him why he's wearing a Tux.
He replies,"Well mam,if im gonna be impotent,i wanna look impotent!"

lol. I think you will find they prefer black.

Really must win this game, no excuses this week, none what so ever! If we don't win this we are so far away from the rest of the comp it won't be funny.
-
No excuses for us but really the pressure is more on North as they were talking finals before the start of the season. Whether we win or not tomorrow it won't change the fact that we are 2-3 years away from playing finals. Mind you that won't stop the media carrying on and calling it crisis time at Punt Rd if we don't win tomorrow :sleep ::).

Better get onto the phone to Gale and co and let them know about that, I'm sure he'd quickly revise his 3-0-75 plan. :whistle
-
Well whoever loses tomorrow will be second last on the ladder ahead of the winless Lions. The pressure will be huge on North if we win and they are left struggling big time both on and off-field.

As much as I would love it to be so we won't be playing finals in 2012. Our list won't start maturing until 2013-14 and that's counting on everything going right (no serious injuries to our best players plus most of our youth stepping up to become quality regulars once they hit their 3rd-4th-5th years in the system.
-
Forget about North and what they are doing.
This is a must win for us. They are playing crap, down on confidence and its about time we beat them.
That whole list maturing stuff is a decent excuse when your playing Collingwood, Carlton etc etc but in this game against a pathetic club who has demolished us for years and years, there shall be absolutely no excuses.
We cant lose this.

If Carl*** can skirt around the 7th-8th mark then anybody can make the finals, I think we can definitely make the finals in 2012 but winning one is a different story.
It's all about keeping an upward trend, if we keep improving the list and getting experience into the young kids while winning and possibly making the finals then that can only be a good thing.
I think our realistic aim of winning a final or even going deep into finals will be around 2013-2014 where our 2009 draft of Martin and co will be in there 4th-5th seasons and start peaking as mature aged footballers.

This is just crap, North by 3 bloody goals.

7 - 24
Glad we've fixed our starts ::)
-
Sheesh the umps are giving North everything :-\
-
They are just killing us all over the ground!
-
At the game. Umps murdering us, north getting all the luck and kicking goals out of their arses
-
Dusty gives the don't argue but misses.
8 - 24

We aren't pushing back and gifting North an open forward line.
-
Cotch off injured!!

Edwards was in front to a contest but out ran! Commitment?
Mcguane terrible
-
Cotch off injured!!

Goal: Riewoldt
-
No excuses for this......absolutely none!
-
Rance a useless thickhead
:banghead
-
If Leppich thinks that Rance and McGuane are our future then he has no idea. Our backs are faaaarrrked.
-
Rance a useless thickhead
:banghead
And the rest of them too, they should donate their match fees to charity for dishing this up.
-
Pathetic! Not switched on at the start again, stagnant stop and prop footy, overpossessing and poor footskills that can't hit targets on the full. We're lucky to be only 22 points down to be honest.
We need to draft key defenders who are natural footballers and with footy smarts.
-
Mcguane is the worst KPD I've ever seen - I dont know why he is so well liked by some supporters and our coaching staff. He's meant to be the senior biggest/strongest general back there but if you watch him his opponent nearly always terrorises him especially early and sets the tone....
then he gets moved away and ppl say yeah but he doesnt get many kicked on him ::)
and FFS these starts are becoming ridiculous
-
We aren't done. The paupers have simply kicked straight. We just ain't smart defensively.
-
I hear ya TM. Yet we gave McGuane a 3-year contract ???
-
We aren't done. The paupers have simply kicked straight. We just ain't smart defensively.
No doubt TA. The weird thing is we have the scoring ability to be in front within the next 20 minutes if we can get our act together. But right now we are making too many basic mistakes just like then.
9 - 32
-
What the hell is Nason and Nahas job, our supposed crumbers are poo.
-
North bad turnover. Houli to Jack to King goal :gotigers
15 - 32
-
Gus good work at the throw-in. Jacko poster though
16 - 32
-
How many marks have we dropped today?
McGuane went to ground and North goal ::)
16 - 38
-
Oh ffs this is how it will go all stuffing day now.
-
Foley snaps but it's touched.
17 - 38
-
Dusty finds Conca who goes long to Jack's advantage. Jack good body strength and goals :gotigers
23 - 38
-
Now that's the best play we have done all day.
-
Free to Vickery to Dusty to Foley who goes long. Ball up 30m out. Dusty to Naahs ot Girgg and Jakc to King to Titch goal :gotigers
29 - 38
-
Not sure if I like the long bomb all the time. But hey it worked.
-
Petrie does us over all the time. That's bad defensive effort.
-
Pathetic! Ball doesn't make the distance from 50m out and Petrie flies and crumbes a goal. Our defence is woeful.
29 - 44
-
Hooray we actually got a spoil in defence.
29 - 45
-
Nahas finds Miller hands to Foley long. Jack gathers to King who finds Cotch inside. Point :-\.
30 - 45
-
Jacko long and Nason drops another mark. Dusty gathers and snaps a goal :gotigers

36 - 52
-
We know how to gift duds a day out don't we :banghead
-
They are kicking goals out of their ass, we can't even kick them in front.
-
Another dropped mark (by Rance this time) and we gift another mark to North inside 50 :banghead
Thankfully Thomas misses.
36 - 53
-
Jack went for the speckie but we had no crumbers and North clears.
-
Dusty great play to Miller who finds White but it's a point.
37 - 53
-

:banghead
And the rest of them too, they should donate their match fees to charity for dishing this up.
The rest of them can improve while Rance wouldn't have a clue :wallywink
And hell could freeze over again too.
-
We were on top in the midfield that qtr which got us back into the game (Dusty is on fire :bow ) but North look like scoring everytime they get it past centre and into our back 50. If were had decent key backs and a better defensive structure we could run right over them in the second half but we are just leaking soft goals whic his keeping North in front.
-
we have outscored the Roos from the 5.25 minute mark of the first quarter.
-
Too many handballs.
-

Not happy with the Vickery Sub.. to much responsibility for Graham. Be interested to see Grahams defensive side to his game in the last...
Seems like we've been on top all game but have hardly been in front.
-
Edwards hit a target :birthday :birthday :birthday
Been ok Edwards today

Vickery is doing nothing, rather tuck on than him, Graham is doing alright.
-
Jacko should have hit Dusty then :scream
-
Clearances 8 -2 in favour of North since Graham the lone ruckman...
Filthy.
-
Edwards on Harvey> No wonder Harvey is dominating.
Why isn't that holding the ball against Pratt when it was no different to Jacko's ::)
-
3/4 time
Richmond 1.3 6.8 10.10-70
North Melb 5.1 8.6 12.11-83

-
Clearances 8 -2 in favour of North since Graham the lone ruckman...
Filthy.
Gus was on top of Goldstein just before the sub so the coaching staff thought okay take Ty off. It's now swapped around in the ruck :-\.
We have too many passengers. We can't expect our top 6 or so to carry the rest of the side. Nason and Whitey have done nothing as small forwards. Edwards is useless as a shutdown player as he plays 10m off his player. He did it to Daisy Thomas who was best of ground and Now Harvey is cutting us to shreads. I'd rather have Jacko on Harvey and push Edwards forward.
Tucky isn't a burst player either so he adds nothing as a sub even with free legs.
-
Harvey has limped off just now according to SEN.
-
Lucky there. Thomas hits the post.
70 - 84

Graham wanted to come off and told to stay on... :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

Worst decision Hardwick has made since day 1. Should have taken off Nason or Edwards. Should have had Morton as sub or Post.

Whitey is another who can't pass to a teammate :P.

Newy finds Cotch and goallllllllllllllllllllllss :bow :gotigers
76 - 84

Blatant push in the back to White - missed.
Hopeless.

Nahas has been sensational.
Lindsay Thomas is a pig will get sighted for his hit on Newman.
-
Rance gave the kick-in duty to Lids as best kicker but then Lids played on and turned it over :banghead. Gift to Petrie.
100 - 99

It is just so obvious how big the hole we have in our back half. Petrie has has in interrupted Pre Season and has destroyed us.

I don't care about the report. It's another hit on a Richmond player yet no free kick which resulted in a opposiion score. It's a disgrace. Newy off with an ankle.

Good game by Martin and Cotchin.

6 weeks, he just came back from 4 and his record is.......um......not good.
Martin, thank God the Dees didn't get him.

LOL at North fans ringing up wanting to axe half their side :rollin
Bets of all where was that shinboner spirit :lol
-
Doesnt matter if you're yellow, black, white or green - that win was golden. Happy with Dusty's game wherever he's from

When we are on song we are outstanding but gee our mistakes kill us sometimes. We gifted North about 8 goals today minimum. Anyway our players were excellent but if we can find replacements for McGuane, Jackson and White that would be good too. Edwards was better this week. A big key defender, a big key forward and another 1 or 2 class midfielders and we are deadset away.

Agree Ramps. We make life really hard for ourselves with dropped marks, passes that fall short, handballs that miss targets and loopy crap that gives the opposition way to much time to defend. Eliminate this stuff and we will be a very good team. Inexperience stuff.
-
Some of the stuff we did today, the switching of play, the spread, the run ... just magnificent but these mistakes that we see, eradicate those and we are well and truly a finals side- just my opinion.

Agreed - we were the Easter Bunny today just handing out the gifts. Need some more intelligent composed players in defence.

great effort from the guys. We needed to win that and we did.
Thought Nahas, King, Martin and Cotch won the game for us.
Houli's best game for the club tonight.
If only we can work out WTF we are going to do with Mcguane and Rance we will be okay. Grimes looks composed down there and must play some serious game time.
Still not impressed with Edwards and time for Vickery to say hello to Coburg to gain some form.

Ive lost all hope for McGuane. Rance started poorly but his disposal for the most part was very good and he tried to be part of the link up play and the run. So I still think he has a chance but McGuane needs to improve lots or he should be spending lots of time at Coburg.

Rance did okay to be given another game but Mcguane WTF goes through that guys head some times.
When he goes anywhere near the ball i cringe. Hansen was down on confidence and having a shocking year, yet completely owned him tonight.
I would actually say Grimes, Moore, Rance down back and forget about Thursfield and Mcguane. They are nothing footballers. Might stop the odd forward here or there but lack the run out of defence that we need.
On Jackson im sick to death of his undisciplined acts. Thats selfish football and not team stuff. We need him on the park although at times tonight he was in all sorts. That holding the ball where he tried to pay on should never have happened.
I loved it how we switched play at times, to create options.
Im more relieved than anything because i expected us to win and we did.
-
Thought Nahas, King, Martin and Cotch won the game for us.
You forgot Jack R. He's pretty quiet so he's easy to miss. ;D
-
Riewoldts best game tonight IMHO. Better than the 10 goal effort. Why - because he kicked what he had to and gave away afew as well to his teammates. Just outstanding.
-
Just watching the last qtr again, love the crowd, you guys are great, can't wait to move to Melbourne... :thumbsup :thumbsup
-
When are you moving to Melbourne. You'll have to become VIC Tiger.

Always wanted to live there, love it, used to spend a fair bit of time there in my youth...Lillydale (spelling). The footy too, really want some of that... :thumbsup Doing more time in Africa first then to Melbourne, within the next 2-5years.
No problems becoming a Vic mate, lived in Ballarat for a few years, loved it.
-
YES FINALLY we can put that sh|tboner spirit which they use against us in the grave with the umpys used as the dirt on top. :gotigers
Miller is still poo ;D

Here's the highlights of the game .....

The roar is so much louder after our goals :thumbsup.

I am now watching the last qtr again with my son.... :lol
-
From pages 2 to 12 this is a very funny thread
Newsflash to Popelord - the Vickery sub was the right move, he was shocking today/tonight shouldn't p[lay again until he is prepared to impose himself on games
I can only imagine what the SEN commentators were saying because I say Maher and Tezza on the screen at half time and Maher dind't have a clue, he made Tezza look like Einstein ;D

Moore or astbury over mcgaune.
Jackson hit was not selfish. Vital part of the game and he was trying to clean up his opposition in order for his side to win momentum thus winning the years first game.

Moore hasn't played at all this season so there is no way he will come straight in and nor should he
As for Astbury a couple of weeks to get his confidence back and get some leather poisoning will do him good
-
LOL at North fans ringing up wanting to axe half their side :rollin

I saw the shin boner spirit at the game tonite. All the north fans leaving the ground with 10 mins to go.
Weak as pee.

Raising your arm and hitting the opposition in the head with your forearm is a vital part of the game?
Maybe in WWF, but in aussie rules its a stupid, undisciplined act of thuggery.
We are a rabble.
Anytime you think that just watch some of the football we produced in 2009. ;)
That was the bench mark for being a rabble!

sorry thats just wrong. Did he succeed in cleaning up his opposition? I think you will find the answer is no.
Including 2-4 from this incident, how many games has he missed so far in the last year. IMO thats selfish and he has to stop being a thug and play team football.
He is becoming another Hislop just hitting blokes. I have no issue if you beat your opponent and show a bit of controlled aggression but he was terrible last night and Swallow completely destroyed him.

David King is a bitter one isn't he. Just said on 3aw that our win was a hollow one as North was "right for the taking" and because the Roos are a "victim of a underdone preseason" :nopity ::). Get a box of tissues!

Pages 2-12 might have been funny AFTER the win but the game I was watching was pretty well summed up on those pages for 3 qtrs at least.
We were a rabble until the last qtr.

im pretty sure norths preseason was just as long as every one elses, if they cant manage their players well stiff poo
every club has injuries

It was funny listening to David King - actually even Mike made him look like a fool ;D

thought Brad Miller was good again last night
Interesing move to Ruck him when Vickery was subbed off.
even though Brad didnt win the hit-outs, the ruck contests he contested we actually won the clearance count

I thought Miller was very good indeed. he presents another alternative to goal actually taking pressure off Jack and yesterday caused the North defenders problems because they didn't know who to go to
I hope Vickery (who was abysmal) was watching from the bench - he could learn alot for Milzy especailly about imposing himslef on contest rather stadning back watching ::)
-
"'Milzy "' has really embraced the club
:thumbsup
he put his body between opposition and the ball.
he draws an opponent, where with Vickery , the opposition will leave him go and then drop the extra back,
Big issue with forward structure.

Not possible, he does live down the road though

And further, after Robbo gave it to Kingy, right between the eyes, the look on King's face as he sooked for the next five minutes was priceless. I'm normally not a fan of Robbo, but he went up a coupla steps in my estimation last night!
I reckon Jack should take some cred for his estimate of King's character - he certainly seemed like poison last night.
-
Kingy got a fairly decent serve there from Robbo! Sounds like Kingy has been at Richmond under Wallace too long, coming up with those sort of excuses for North's performance.
-
Robbo is one of the few journos who dont run personal agendas. Hes a very good journo if truth be told and far better than most covering footy these days.

love hearing his passion for the game not like the rest of them who lean toward their own supported club.
