Title: Changes for next week's game against the Bombers?
Post by: one-eyed on May 15, 2011, 05:16:28 PM
Frustrating loss. Edwards will miss if he has a fractured cheekbone. Any other changes?

Fire away....

Won't happen but I'd love to see Browne get rewarded for his good VFL form. Webberley in for Edwards

Agree Webberley is a given.  Today makes it just so much more confusing to me, as to what the match committee sees in Graham.  Browne has very good exposed form and can't get a crack.  What am I missing?

I don't think Browne is the answer. I truly hope he proves me wrong but at this stage in his career he's way way way off AFL level. That said I don't think anyone couldve been worse than Graham was today.

lost a bit of pace with white out and edwards subbed early.

Id guess white back in for titch.

If graham got a rest i wouldn't be surprised, but i doubt he'll be dropped to coburg.

Bombers play three really big guys, maybe we should too. We had no one to play on Minson and Hille is a much better player

Who d'ya think can come in for him, Jack?  Has Astbury been getting much of it in the twos?  Moore isn't ready and Thursty has been injured.

Out: Graham, Nason, Edwards
In: Post, Morton, Webberley

If I have to sit through anymore games with Angus Graham trespass on an AFL Ground I'll spew up. Ben Hudson was an inspiration yesterday. I'm sick of getting absolutely smashed in the ruck, effing sick of it, it's called a 2nd effort and work rate.  :banghead

We will get absolutely destroyed by Hille, Bellchambers or Ryder who ever they decide to put in the ruck. Essendon have 3 ruckman on their list better than our 1st. Infuriating to watch. It seems we have no other option, which infuriates me even more.

Nason too small, can't have Helbig, Nason, King and Nahas in the same side. Not against Essendon.

Nason needs a full game in the 2's.

Hoping White is fit to take his spot back actually. Forgot about White.

Rance is no chance to get dropped. He is playing probably a 3rd or 4th defender who is playing as our #1 or 2 defender.

I think he is going ok.

He is going terrible.
Has had 8 goals kicked against him last 2 weeks by ordinary players -Keppler Bradley and Will Minson
His game was error riddled today

Definite outs for me at this stage:

Nason (omitted)
Edwards (fractured cheekbone)

White in ?

Yes if he is fit but I don't think he'll come up

It was only concussion wasn't it? He should be right this week. What makes you think he wont get up WP?

As Jack's mentioned White has a shoulder injury and although I am not sure how bad it is but I reckon you are better to take the cautious approach with them

I'm not sure that personnel changes will help as much as a major attitude change will.

I'll be looking for;
- Defensive pressure in the forward 50.  This was nonexistent v the Dogs.
- Defensive pressure from our midfield, thru the corridor and getting back to help the defenders.  The criticism of our defenders has been harsh and not unwarranted, but the lack of pressure on the Doggies ball carrier and the resulting quality of delivery had a lot to do with it.
- A ruckman who watches the ball at centre bounces and taps the ball to our advantage occasionally.
- Better setups at stoppages in the defensive 50.  Didn't see the stats on Bullies scores from stoppages, but I'm thinking it wasn't good for us.
- Better setups in the F50 - it was too easy to double team Jack with too much crowding in the forward line.

That'll do for a start.

I've been thinking about the Gus/Browne thing and I've been wondering if Browne has the fitness to ruck with only TV to back him up?  Would a Browne/Post combination be too top heavy against the Bumblers?

White has a shoulder
He has two shoulders, one left, one right -  :rollin - and he uses both to good effect on the footy field.

If he plays against the Bummers, just watch him laugh when one of them tests either shoulder and watch them cry when he barrells them with either shoulder too.

I wouldn't believe everything you read in the press mate. :shh

Richmond said "GENERAL SORENESS" - why would a journalist write SHOULDER? Maybe the typesetter didn't have room for two words.

If you have worked at a footy club then you would know all about - DUCKS and DRAKES.

And I pay very little attention to what the Club injury list says only because they have a tendency not give a full list of who's injured let alone what the problem is....O'Reilly, Jakobi, Thursfield Connors weren't listed for weeks want me to go on  ;D

Anyone know how Derickx is going.  From what i remember he can also play back and would be one of the few we have that could throw some weight around down there, leaving (shudder) Gus in the ruck Ty up forward.  3 talls, then Gus could concentrate purely on the centre of the ground.

RICHMOND - In the Mix

Matt White (shoulder) and Shane Edwards (facial fracture) were both injured in the loss to the Western Bulldogs. White must pass a fitness test to retain his place in the team while Edwards' prognosis is still to be determined. Shane Tuck (ribs) will also face a fitness test as he pushes for selection in the team to take on Essendon on Saturday night. Jeromey Webberley was named in the best players for Coburg in the VFL and looms as a replacement for White or Edwards.

Who's our defensive coach?  Trade him in for someone who can teach basic defensive fundamentals like punching ball on goal line, standing defensive side at stoppage, marking ball when NOT under any pressure, punching ball when opponent is trying to mark etc.

With Moore on the LTIL and Hislop named in the bests two weeks in a row I wouldn't be surprised if he is elevated soon to see if he can push for a new contract. Just needs to keep up the Coburg form.
