The Crows are coming off a 77-point flogging at home with Doc Larkins last night saying Petrenko is unlikely to play with that shoulder. Ruckman Sam Jacobs also hurt his knee yesterday. Not sure how badly but if he were to miss then Adelaide might have to play a certain ex-Tiger ruckman they traded for .
-
Rest Jacobs. You ain't making finals. Give Big Gus some burn at his MCG home. :clapping
If Gus does play do we boo him? Especially after his pre-season slap he gave us?
-
Wow Sydeny blew the Crows away with sublime September footy.
Lets hope RFC take the same intent and skill for Saturday.

He would have to get near the ball first .
Imagine if the Crows brought in both Gus and Tambling just to remind us how well we did out of trading with them ;D.

I'll just boo him at each ball-up. ;D

Teams tend to come out firing after demoralizing loses. I was hoping they either won against Sydney or had a respectable loss for that reason alone.

Imagine we play like we did in the Melbourne game
But we played like that bc a fired up Melbourne didn't let us play our game, nothing wrong with the performance
The performance was disgraceful. We had no run at all. We started that kick to kick in our back line just when Melbourne were about to hoist the white flag and instead of winning by 10 goals, we won by just over 5.
I was appalled at the performance. I think it was the first time I can recall that I did not sing the song at the end despite winning and I can tell you I was not alone.

Imagine we play like we did in the Melbourne game
Give me 31 scoring shots 59 x i50s and 100 more possies and there you have a Win :shh
-
I hope we remember and have learnt from the Freo game last year where we went into that game with everyone praising us on the back of wins over Hawthorn, Sydney and St Kilda and we ended up being beaten in the contests and stoppages and couldn't get any run in our game at all (similar to the Essendon loss this year in some ways). We've got to come into the Adelaide hungry from the start and hunt them. If we match or better their workrate then we should have too much firepower given they are minus Tex Walker up forward. I also hope the loss to the Crows last year at Footy Park still stings as well.
-
Adelaide will be pumped. Got to win the clearances. Need to keep Thompson, Dangerfield and Douglas in check. Need to make MCG a fortress against interstate clubs.

We need to recruit Dangerfield at the end of the year. Givem McGuane Nahas and Gary Frangalas ;D

Tambling had 27 possies for Sturt on the weekend. We could have two ex-Tigers running around for the Crows on Saturday.

They really will come to play. Why do we always have to cop teams on the back of massive defeats
-
We can beat a fired up Crows but we need to be switched on from the start. This game is very important as it gives us a 2 game buffer from the crow's who if they find some form could win 7 games after their bye if West Coast keep struggling.
-
Melbourne were fired up today too. Doesn't mean much if you're poohouse. :whistle

I wouldn't put Crows on the same level as Melbourne. We also didn't smash Melbourne like Collingwood did.

Agree. We would be very foolish to underestimate the crows.

Yep. The key to winning this game will be to get well on top of them early. If we do that they will fold quickly as their lack of confidence and lack of key forwards bites hard. They are playing like a very insecure team so if we get into their heads early we will win.

2010, Round Seven, Adelaide 15.14 (104) d Richmond 7.12 (54), AAMI Stadium

Brownlow Medal votes from last meeting
3. Scott Thompson (Adel), 2. Shane Tuck (Rich), 1. Dustin Martin (Rich)
Stats that matter
* Richmond is ranked No.1 in the competition for short kicks and second in effective kicks. The short-kicking game means the Tigers also take a lot of marks – ranked second in the AFL.
* The Tigers have a good ‘outside’ game, boasting the highest percentage of uncontested possession in the League. Shaun Grigg leads the way in this area – ranked sixth overall. In contrast, Richmond is 15th for contested ball.
* Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs is fourth in hit-outs to advantage this season (78).
* The Tigers are stoppage-scoring specialists. They rank 1st in scores from centre bounces, having kicked 23 more goals than their opposition from centre bounces this year. The Crows are third in this statistic, having outscored their opposition by a total of eight goals. Richmond is second overall in scores from stoppages.
* Rory Sloane has recorded 30-plus possessions (30 and 31) in his past two matches. The tough midfielder has only hit the 30-disposals mark twice previously in his career – 36 against Geelong in Round 21, 2011 and 33 against Fremantle in Round 10 last year.
* Bernie Vince has averaged 27 possessions and nearly one goal per game in his past four matches against Richmond.

Preview: Richmond v Adelaide
By Nathan Schmook
afl.com.au
Tuesday, June 11, 2013
SUMMARY
The Tigers (6-4) have made significant ground in the past month, winning three of four games before their round 11 bye, but they still find themselves in ninth place - familiar territory for the yellow and black. Saturday's clash against Adelaide (5-6), which has lost its past two games, is another test of Richmond's finals credentials. The Crows are desperate for redemption after their 77-point loss to the Sydney Swans, the club's worst home loss in 19 years. Making their task more difficult is the likely return of Richmond young guns Brandon Ellis and Reece Conca, who have added impressive depth to the Tiger midfield.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday June 15, 1.40pm
LAST FIVE TIMES
R14, 2012, Adelaide 17.4 (106) d Richmond 13.9 (87) at AAMI Stadium
R23, 2011, Richmond 17.19 (121) d Adelaide 15.9 (99) at AAMI Stadium
R18, 2010, Richmond 15.10 (100) d Adelaide 11.14 (80) at the MCG
R7, 2010, Adelaide 15.14 (104) d Richmond 7.12 (54) at AAMI Stadium
R14, 2009, Adelaide 15.12 (102) d Richmond 13.7 (85) at Metricon Stadium
THE SIX POINTS
1. Richmond led at half-time and the final change when the sides last met, in round 14, 2012 at AAMI Stadium, but was overrun and lost by 19 points.
2. Richmond has won two of the last three clashes between the sides, but Adelaide has won six of the last eight. The Crows lead overall, winning 20 games to 10.
3. The sides haven’t met at the MCG since 2010. Adelaide’s two biggest wins at the venue – 110-points in 1992 and 94 points in 1993 – were both against Richmond.
4. Both teams have struggled for tackling in 2013 so far. Richmond is ranked last and Adelaide 15th.
5. In 2012 the Crows were the second ranked contested possession side. In 2013 they have slipped to eight. Richmond was fifth in 2012, and in 2013 they are 15th.
6. Jack Riewoldt has climbed from No.63 to No.46 overall in the Official AFL Player Ratings, and he is now the No.5 ranked forward. Adelaide is one club he is yet to fire against, however, kicking just 10 goals in six games.

well best we give em another one to go on with then
-
ADELAIDE midfielder Bernie Vince says fans should expect the Crows to take more risks against Richmond this weekend, claiming the club's conservative style is playing right into opposition hands.
"It's a massive game for us this weekend against Richmond, especially over there on the MCG.
"Richmond are coming off a really good win against West Coast over in Perth. They've had the bye as well, so they could come back pretty fresh.
"We've got our work cut out."

Our turn to thump someone!!! :gotigers

40k would be a good turnout against an interstate side. It would also be our highest home crowd against the Crows. We need to get more than 39,044 (R12, 1996).

AFL Power Rankings: Round 11
By Ben Hocking

8. Richmond (9)
Find themselves inside our top eight after a week off from playing any footy. We have a sneaky suspicion they will find themselves in more familiar territory after this week's game against Adelaide.
9. Adelaide (8 )
Coach Brenton Sanderson didn't mince his words after the galling loss against the Swans on Saturday, calling the effort insipid. He has to say that, because he can't go making excuses for the side. We tend to think that Crows were just outplayed by the best team in the comp and will bounce back and still challenge for a spot in the finals.

Tommy Rehn on SEN, said that the crows may have up to 4 or 5 changes.
He also said the crows are having a closed training session today and they have a good record against the tigers.
I think from the sounds of it they are going to come out and throw everything including the kitchen sink at us
-
Even if we lose against Adelaide we still have 2 wins coming up and Carlton and WC have games against Hawthorn and a bye. So if we lose we'll be back in the 8 next week
-

A win this week would be making a statement
-
Expected the Melbourne media to be fully in Adelaide's corner this week as they are pooting themselves that Richmond will be in the 8 after this game and stay there.
I expect Robbo to draw the line in the sand for the Crows on 360 tonight.
Maclure especially. ;D
-
Mrs birthday and she already is making plans around the footy :thumbsup
-
Adelaide are flooding any media outlet who will listen with talk of different attitudes, different players, different gameplans etc. They will either come out sizzling or pop like a pricked balloon and I reckon the first quarter on Saturday will be one of our most important for the year.
-
ADELAIDE is considering switching superstar midfielder Patrick Dangerfield into defence against Richmond on Saturday.
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-06-12/dangers-new-zone
Adelaide are sure vocal in the media this week while we are keeping our heads down hopefully ready to let our footy do the talking.
-
Agree need to keep a low profile and let our footy do the talking. Adelaide have a good record against us. I can't recall us ever thrashing Adelaide. They will come out pumped. Beating them would be a big statement.

We'll have to watch out for the rebound but with Maric not winning as many tap downs this year Dangerfield not being in the Mid-field could be a good thing for us.
-
enter conca and ellis..that should keep the crows honest in the midfield

Robbo on cue said the Crows game is a line in the sand game for them. ::)
I think he says that for every team who plays Richmond.

Sanderson has really talked this game up, he will accept nothing other than a win. They will come out breathing fire so if we are slightly lethargic after the bye then we could quickly be chasing tails for the rest of the game. Hopefully with the heat on Adelaide to perform it clearly prepares us for the battle ahead, lose this one and we miss an opportunity to embed ourselves in the 8

Jacobs had been well down on last years form, much like Maric.

"More than comfortable win" :-\
Adelaide played a shocker against Sydney (the most inform team in the comp) and you reckon it should be a comfortable win?
Hope they players dont' have the same mindset
Agree it is a must win game for our final chances but no way should be thinking it's going to be "comfortable" or the win is guarantee.
Bring our best and we will win, play like we did against the Pies, Cats, Bombers or even that the rabble that is the Demons and we are in trouble I reckon

Hence why to suggest it "should be more than a comfortable win" is foolish at best and fraught with danger.
It's going to be a bloody tough game

Scott Thompson a chance to miss.
The Crows are sweating on the fitness of 2012 club champion Scott Thompson. The 30-year-old gathered 21 disposals last week despite a corked thigh.
Adelaide assistant coach Mark Bickley said if Thompson pulled up sore on Saturday morning following Friday's training session, emergencies Jarryd Lyons and Brad Crouch were candidates to take his place.

There might be some bad news for Adelaide - and good news for Richmond, and plenty of SuperCoach players - before tomorrow's clash at the MCG.
Crows star Scott Thompson was put through a vigorous fitness test at training today and afterwards was given the green light by fitness staff to get on the plane to Melbourne.
But assistant coach Mark Bickley left the door open for a late change, and confirmed two back-up midfielders - Brad Crouch and Jarryd Lyons - were also making the trip in case Thompson wakes up sore tomorrow.
"I'm led to believe he is a really good chance of starting," Bickley said. "He looks fine, so it's just a matter of seeing how he pulls up."

Punters show faith in Tigers

The money is coming for Richmond against Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday despite this being exactly the type of game the Tigers have slipped up in for years.
The Tigers are coming off one of their best wins in recent seasons - a seven goal demolition of the Eagles in Perth before their bye last week - and meet an Adelaide side reeling from a 77 point loss to Sydney and which have just one of their past nine games at the MCG.
A win for Richmond would almost certainly lift them back into the top eight - bolstering their hopes of a first finals berth since 2001 - but this very stage of last year the Tigers had a similar home game at the MCG against Fremantle and lost having just come off sensational wins against Hawthorn and St Kilda.
However a year on and punters clearly believe Damien Hardwick's improving side and is now a more mature unit, capable of handling increased expectations.
The bookies are reporting heavy support for the Tigers against an Adelaide side that has managed a total of just 14 goals in their past two matches against Fremantle and Sydney as the Crows are beginning to find life tough without their twin towers in attack from last season in Kurt Tippett (now at Sydney) and the injured Taylor Walker.
The Tigers are the $1.43 favourites in head-to-head betting at Betfair compared to the Crows at $3.25 with Betfair's Daniel Bevan reporting the money is running two to one in the Tigers' favour.
And at Centrebet the Tigers have been backed in from $1.38 to $1.35 while Adelaide have drifted from $3 to $3.15 while at the TAB the Tigers have firmed from $1.38 to $1.35 with the Crows $3 to $3.25.

Crows midfield looking pretty sharp, but our defence is standing up well. Lids of half back is looking like a winner. Jack is working his backside off in attack.
-
21 HOs to 5, has Ivan's groin injury made him drop 6 inches in height?
-
Ellis disgusts me ;D

Ellis disgusts me ;D
The umpiring so far has kept the Crows alive. Umps are inventing new rules today.
-
All jokes aside, posters who bag Ellis disgust me
-
gotta stay on the job and get the lead out by another 3 or 4 goals.
-
Good courage from Astbury but he looks slow at there. Dont know why we chose him over Batch, would rather batch any day.

It must be a big shock after the speed of the AFL to get a game in the big league after so long out. Reckon it might take him a couple of games to get used to the pace of play.

Batch hurt his knee during the week running over one of the gutters and punt road from what I know.

Boys seem to be going well.
No injuries I hope.. :pray

Astbury copped some friendly fire from Morris but just winded. Nothing else to report so far. :cheers

That's right. I can't remember who said it, but apparently it takes around 3 games to adjust from VFL to AFL and even vice versa.
-
That's good to hear...GO TIGES!!!
-
Very good defensive performance today. If we can keep them to below 8 goals for the match then I think it would have been a great performance.
-
Dwayne Russell "they won't have the lead at 3/4 time" talking about Adelaide about 20 seconds before the end of the quarter.
-
Would like to see us beat them by 6 goals plus.
-
Would like to see us beat them by 6 goals plus.
Right now any win would be a good win. Bloody hell conceded 2 goals in 5 minutes.
-
My mate has a theory that he swears by. First to 100 wins.
-
lol Dusty denied Azza.
-
Good workmanlike performance by the boys today, nothing spectacular but did the basics well and responded well to the Crows mini comeback in the last. These are the games we should be winning, pleasing thing was as per the West Coast game it was an even contribution across the team although Lids did dominate given the extra freedom he was allowed today.
-
We won every quarter, IMV can't get any better than that.
-
Credit where/when it is due. There were contributors all over the ground today.. Maric, whilst being beaten in H/Outs was majestic around the ground. Our back-line again stood up with Houli/Lids being best among them. The mids struggled at times but when they went forward they were deadly. Jack played a great selfless game. Tyrone....is Tyrone......and Azza is trying hard but is just not up to it IMO. Jacko did many hard 1%'s today that didn't get on the stat sheet, so whilst Dangerfield clearly beat him he made sure that most of the time he was pressured. BTW I'm bewildered as to why Astbury was subbed and not Edwards. He had a 'purple patch' just before he was dragged and should have been moved down forward.
-
one word sums up today - professional and clinical (ok 2 words)
Really happy we broke down another barrier and won one of these type of games. Crows were smarting, we're coming off the bye, danger game and we handled it coolly. Our structures are becoming solid and repeatable, starting to look really well drilled. Funnily enough I don't think we're playing great football, we're 'just going' and have a pretty big scope to improve on current form. 3-4 games with this midfield together and we will really start to motor.
Biggest positive out of today apart from having our full compliment of midfielders out there, was the way Ivan moved. First time in 12 months he has moved that freely and looked that spritely. Dare I say he is over that groin? :pray
Good solid win boys, very good crowd given the conditions and the carpark, back it up with 2 more wins on the trot and we are all but playing finals in 2013 :cheers

great to see Nathan slowly but surely regaining touch

How good is Dangerfield, would cap off our midfield superbly

Username.. I swear you must watch the games screened on North Korean TV

Agree. :thumbsup
He is a tough, fast, uncompromising, skillful, midfielder that loves a goal.
How he scoops up the ball in the wet at full pace with such ease is amazing to watch
-
As predicted......comfortable win, welcome to the AFL Richmond... :clapping
No injuries????

Astbury got a knock to the head and was subbed off because of it. I was disappointed when he was subbed too. I thought he was playing quite well and we would miss him.
-
I thought I heard someone say(maybe dimma) he was substituted purely for match up reasons
-

I know him personally, he grew up in the same area as me and I assure you he is not AT ALL like that.

Yeah, I just watched it too. Knowing that I now wish he had stayed on. Think subbing him was a mistake though it didn't really matter in the end.

He is an absolute 'Jet'....and I don't usually like using that term. Jacko did as well as anyone could have today and was still beaten..

Great win. Won every quarter and were solid. :thumbsup
What I loved was we were challenged early in the last and kicked the next 5 goals.
Solid performance and just what we needed.
Loved our tackling pressure too. Has really stepped up in the last few weeks. :thumbsup

Just because he was BOG doesn't mean squat
Watch his games a bit closer plays a fair few poor ones

The malakia out there was the slime green. Some decisions do bewilder.
Solid effort that was routine and unspectacular but so good.
At times I thought we were going to break the game open and get it beyond 6-8 goals in the second or third but we let ourselves down with skill and decision making but all in all a solid effort.

Grigg, Vickery
Terrific, just terrific TM

Haha Im not trying to claim anything man, I live in Aireys Inlet. He is an idol for all the young foot ballers and he plays team first, not a selfish bone in his body but I guess your entitled to your opinion.
-
Dangerfield - a sublime pick up (and it was sublime) gets replayed and he kicks a point (one of 4 I think) 2 maybe 3 OOF. At times we sagged off Dangerfield and just corralled him to the boundary waiting for the inevitable turnover.
When the opposition do it to us and Jackson, Jackson is a dud, hack etc. We do it to Dangerfield and he's a gun. Funny what we see.
-
I love watching Dangerfield but I'm with Username. I thought he was crap today and selfish as all hell. There are 17 blokes out there in the same jerseys as you Clangers. Pass it to them. That out on the full in the back line was Rance/Jacko-esque. We'd be calling for him to be dropped. That pick up and point he had 2 blokes streaming forward 30m in the clear and burnt them. :lol
At one stage I had him BOG for us. :shh
Next game he'll be back to his best and thank stuff it wasn't against us. :clapping

youre a good poster HK but to say we allowed Dangerfield time with the ball bc we knew he'd turn it over is rubbish. comeon..
he is a jet

Is Maric back? He was taking some big pack marks and contesting well for this game, made a hell of a difference, looked a lot better in this game, slotted goal or two as well.

Dangerfield is an incredible player, IMV is what Gary Ablett was to Gold coast suns 12-18 months ago. that being a one man show

Better game, but still getting hammered in the hit outs and appears slower than Jackstars wit. :P
-
Pleased with win overall. Martin was fantastic. Should have kicked five. Deledio was good. Maric is getting back to form. Although he was beaten in the tap outs thought he was better araound the ground and kicked a very important goal. It was a good team performance. Came back when challeged. Tackling very good. Houli, Morris and Newman's efforts in backline outstanding. Chaplan's reading of play was very good. Jackson also deserves credit for his game. White was good when he came on. King and Jack stand outs in the forwardline. Need to keep intensity throughout the game. Disappointed with Vickery's performance.
-
Jackson first half utter shyte.
-
Nice solid win but I am concerned about our arrogance.
Going into the game with only 21 players smacks of getting ahead of ourselves.
-
Dangerfield is indeed a jet and if we had him he would take us up the ladder in a hurry. Indeed I would say if we had him we'd be on the verge of being a top 4 side.

that would indeed be a bloody good idea :clapping
he was drafted and could have first played in 2008 in 2015 when his contract runs out he will have served 8 full years with the crows and I think he would be a free agent. he was born in 1990 so in 2015 he would be 25. I think we should have a go this year and definately at the end of next year which is just 12 months before his contract expires and the crows will get stuff all.

Might have to wait a while - he re-signed in the middle of last year until the end of 2015.

Agree Dangerfiled is a gun and love watching him play
Will be the next captain of the Adelaide football club

Should be more than a comfortable win, a loss is not acceptable in the climate for the battle of the top 8. These are must win games for us!
But WP, we should only play like we did against the Eagles shouldn't we! I hope the players have that mind set.......then it will be a comfortable win! :thumbsup

Indeed he is. He was BOG and kept them in it. He didn't pass it off a couple of times because he was playing with a bunch off unskilled passengers.

White. Like the way he's been playing but Tuck is to valuable right now.
