I went for Hawthorn based purely on the science that I can't bear the thought of those grubs Ballantyne and Crawley holding the cup. I detest that pair.
-
Hawthorn please
Can't stand them. 7th flag since I was norm of they win. stuff em
Come on the haze

Go Freo.
-
Hoping Freo wins so the Hawks don't end up with more flags than us :P. Having said that I think Hawthorn will win. Last week getting that Geelong hoodoo off their back will give them heaps of confidence while Freo may have played their GF last week.
The Sun's out now but if it starts to rain again and the wind keeps it we'll see if the Hawks can play their precise kicking gamestyle in the wet. Being suspect in the wet has been one of the knocks on the Hawks.
-
Freo showing their nerves early. Making plenty of basic mistakes - shanking kicks and dropping simple marks.
-
Freo lucky to be just two goals down. The big stage got to them in that first quarter and they didn't take their chances. If the Hawks get the first couple of the 2nd qtr then it'll be hard for Freo to come back given the way they play.
-
Feel r peeing me off
-
Effing freo....
-
Ballantyne is playing crap he needs to stop trying to do everything himself.
-
The way Freo have choked on the big stage it's virtually game over. it will be if the Hawks kick the first after half-time. Freo played their GF last week and haven't turned up to play today. Bad kicking is bad footy. Gunston has taken all his chances whereas Fyfe has kicked a point and twice OOTF from three set shots, Pav has shanked two set shots, and as you say tiger101, Ballantyne had Walters wide open 15m out but ignored him and then missed anyway being a hog.

2 minutes after that he kicked it along the ground trying to square it up in the 50 that lead to a turn over. The first quarter looked the worst when he had Pav 15 metres in the open to the side and a hawks player in front and he slipped over trying to run around him.
-
That turn over that lead to the Roughhead goal hurts as it was so quickly after Pav got one which could of motivated the team for a big premiership quarter.
-
Umpires owned the game
-
Game on but you'd still have the Hawks as favourites. That goal to Gunston was crucial. The question now is whether Freo have used all their tickets in that 3rd qtr?
-
Has Buddy already left of GWS? Is he there? ;D
-
Game over.
-
Hawks need one more I reckon
-
Lake has been fantastic
-
And can I add sac Dawson is definitely a dud ;D
-
Freo about as much resistance as a wet windsock
-
Lot of Freo players have been shocking I der pressure
Freo have been out Freo'd today
-

Reckon he is but the likes of Suban, Maine, mcPharlin and a few others are playing well under there usual

This my conclusion....Lyons game will get you to the finals and possibly a grand final ,but it aint attacking enough to win you one.

As much as I hate Hawthorn this is probably a good thing.

Tend to agree
-
Congratulations to Brian Lake. His move from Bulldogs now vindicated.
-
Get ready for 2014 when we'll have 3 teams playing this defensive crap...Freo,Syd and now Melbourne
-
For people criticial of us getting older players from other clubs to fill needs, gaze at hawthorn....lake,gunston,the dude with the wig ,plus hale, and Burgoyne.
-
gunston is only 22
But understand your point
Gunston was a gun today, who needs Buddy ;D
-
Hoping our 11th flag isn't too far away now :-\ :pray.
Premiership sides create trends. Other clubs not far away may now go hard at trading & free agency to instantly solve holes in their list given the foreign legion Hawthorn had today - Lake, Hale, Gunston, Guerra, Burgoyne, Gibson and to a lesser extent Simpkin (who came in today for Whitecross). They've also down well recruiting ready-made players from state leagues - Mitchell, Bruest, Smith, Stratton and Puopolo.
This my conclusion....Lyons game will get you to the finals and possibly a grand final ,but it aint attacking enough to win you one.
Yep too reliant on nullifying the opposition. Hawthorn getting a good start meant Freo couldn't apply scoreboard pressure, close the game down and play the game on their terms.
For mine, Freo played their GF last week. Too many of their players had downers today after almost a faultless game in the Prelim. Knowing from our own experiences with big games, it's been too much party mode and too much focus on Freo this week. As if they were happy just to have made a GF. Even after losing today, their fans stuck around at the 'G well after the siren when usually the losing supporters leave straight after the siren gutted.
-
I want Fyfe
-
Worst GF I've ever seen
Gee I hate whorethorne
Hope buddy leaves need something to help being them down
-
Great result for footy today. Big loss for whatever the hell it is Ross Lyon has the Shockers playing.

I concur, what a bore fest. Total lack of skill and composure from Freo and the Whoreks weren't much better, 6 goals by half time, zzzzzzz
I went n watched a Hitchcock film instead after that and only flicked back for the score during the ads.
-
I was at a St Kilda game v the Whoreks a few years back and both dropped 18 players behind the ball. It was 4 goals total by half time, people left. It very much reminded me of that.

Ross Lyon must have been coaching St. Kilda back then.

Agree Ross Lyon coached teams in Gf's have scored
2009- 68 pts 2010- 68 pts & 52 pts 2013- 62 pts. Not attacking enough. To save the GF you have to be in a position to win it. That a Ross Lyon coached team was in 2009 and they still were not good enough to save it because they needed to kick a goal or two in the last to win it. Hawthorn today showed Ross Lyon how it is meant to be done kick the first 3 goals of the last to go 5 goals up and you have plenty of scope to hang on.
-
Well well well every pee & poo supporter & his dog will be on a high now.
stuffing dumb stuffing pathetic excuse for a stuffing supporter base this stuffing poofter club are the biggest bunch of peeweak supporters if I've ever seen any.
Almost all of the turncoat poofters will be supporting another team soon enough once they've ended their window of success.
They make me sick. :chuck :chuck :chuck :chuck
They can all get stuffed!

;D
As WP said, Freo were beaten at their own game by Hawthorn :yep.
-
EAD ballantyne, nah make that multiples
Same with ross lyon and his pox game plan.
-
Nothing wrong with Ballantyne Al
Would love him in our team, in faxt is exactly what we need
Had a bad game as did Cyril and co year before
-
he is a little turd and as long as he plays for someone else i will revel every time he gets punched or misses three goals in a grand final they lose by 15 points
-
Great result for footy today. Big loss for whatever the hell it is Ross Lyon has the Shockers playing.
Don't think the Hawks can covered themselves with the way they played either
Their chipping around helped create the worst looking Gf in ages, was terrible to watch

Yes, but I maintain that it was a symptom of adapting to Freo's style which forced the Hawks to play that way. No team can play their preferred style when confronted with the Dockers strangulation. They deprive you of time and space and force you into playing their garbage, until your only option is to beat them at their own game. This is why I had such a huge fear of them prevailing yesterday. Right now I only have to put up with watching the Tigers play that style once or twice a year tops. If Freo had won the flag everybody, including us would be copying them.
-
Well, you'd be wrong.
Hawthorn always play that way.
-

No I'm not wrong. Take a look at the Preliminary Final against Geelong for an example of two teams playing the game the way it SHOULD be played. Tough and hard, sure, but plenty of risk-taking, moving the ball on quickly by hand and foot, and attacking through the corridor. Freo drag every team they play into the gutter.
-
Reckon we have the game plan/style as evidenced in beating alll 4 of the last teams to make the GF and win on the day, just have to get there.
Being as one eyed Richmond as I am I wanted freo to win but picked and backed the hawks to lead narrowly all day, got the qtr quad in the end. Tell you what though I found myself getting up for the hawks in the end 'That's how much Freo Pi55 me off'.
Pretty boring Grand final for mine ....
