So for a long time now I have been going on about the crowd in WA and last night they showed their true colours yet again. They are absolutely disgusting and an embarrassment to Australia. I would seriously like to see the AFL ban games being played there.
Something has to give, WA people have this massive chip on their shoulders and they always have. I am embarrassed to say that I come from that state. I have travelled and lived in various locations worldwide and I can honestly say that the worst, most backward place I have seen is WA with the worst people I have met in my life.
Grow up WA you disgust me!

You still shouldn't of snotted that Shiela in the crowd though WAT just coz she was telling you to keep it down for the kids man

The AFL really have to act on this, I posted this thread and now I have just seen that incident. I am mortified at their behaviour.
How dare a man ever hit a woman. If I was there I would have belted the absolute pis s out of that week piece of crap.
-
It's ironic that Goodes gets booed the most in WA - the state that probably had some of the higher indigenous populations compared to VIC etc.
At least it was good to see this perpetrator 'set upon' by surrounding fans and ejected along with the two who tried to make contact with players on the boundary.
Also some fans were ejected in previous rounds for making racist slurs, clearly dobbed in by their fellow supporters.
There are still good people at the games. Maybe just more of an extreme with the poorly behaved ones.
-
I've always found Perth afl crowds to be a bit soft. Like Geelong supporters....
Perhaps I've been lucky not to witness what others say happens on a weekly basis.

And then you'd be another one of those violent blokes at the footy which you so abhor. Just put a hard restraint on the guy, no need to sink to his level and start throwing punch after punch :(
-
AFL clubs need to boycott playing there, it's got worse, it's ruining our game and it's ruining our culture. They are the most pathetic bunch of losers I have ever seen. I will never forget the time they booed the Australian cricked team off the ground and their boos were aimed at Bruce Reid, who is a West Australian. If that bloke did that to my wife last night he wouldn't be waking up this morning!
It's every single game they do this, it's not a one off, it's pathetic. I will never live there again.

I have lived in Perth for 28 years .
I agree with WAT , the two incidents from last nights game were " disturbing "
Unfortunately it is still a redneck town full of biggots , racists and the plain ignorant ....and embarrassed to say that includes members of my own family.
No surprise the Adam Goodes fiasco went to extremes here in WA. Booed by both Eagles and Dockers fans alike.
Perth media have been promoting / predicting a derby grand final for months now , locals thought it was just a formality . Wonder how many docker fans are frantically cancelling flights today.
-
Never had an issues with Eagles fans
As for Freo fans, worst in the camp by along way. Have been spat at and poked at with a stick from a flag..... Can only imagine what would have happened if we had actual won
And BTW agree with Dooks, no need to stoop to the level of the coward who hit the woman last night and to suggest someone is a coward for not bashing the living suitcases out of someone is well equally as cowardly...

Don't worry I'd put him into the ground with a hard restrain and he'd feel it. That's the responsible thing to do.
I just think it's a bad example to set in public and in front of kids trying to swinging away and pulverising someone until that person within an inch of his life (or just about killing him which you have alluded to). Nobody needs to see that poo mate

:clapping. Apart for 5 years I lived there my entire life, so 40 years. You have nailed it. good to see people that live it know it!

Personally I would smack the poo out of somebody for raising a hand to my mrs. Just saying. Call me a 'coward' for saying so if you like but I'm only human

Three incidents actually.

Exactly, it's time the AFL did something about this, imagine what that coward does behind closed door, the filthy pig.

Don't agree WP, it's not cowardly to stand up for a woman, it's cowardly to raise a hand to a woman, sorry but I am a hangover from the days of respect and I won't change my view on this. Somethings should not change and this is one of them.

I've never feared for my safety at Subiaco - at worst I have been told to shut up a few times.
Will never forget going to the cricket at the WACA in 1988 . Australia vs West Indies . Graeme Wood made his last 100 for Australia . Steve Waugh fell agonising short from making his first test century.
Crowd was making monkey and gorilla noises ALL DAY. Patrick Patterson , who was fielding near the boundary was being pelted with bananas . It's a day I will never forget .
That's Perth for you.

Yes. There you go. Because of these freaks we will end up with grounds fenced off, similar to that of the EPL. Do we really want that, I'm done with AFL if it ever comes to that.

I'm sure the Eagles fans are going to give young Tyrone a warm welcome next time he plays in WA.

I was bought up and taught that you can never hit a woman no matter the circumstances. I have never ever hit a woman in my life, well thats not quite true i have hit some players who i would classify as women :o
I have to say though i think there are circumstances where they get what they deserve . If they are gunna run around now days and act like thugs and foul mouthed cretins then they can be treated the same way as a bloke. Some things you wont put up with from a bloke, why would you then put up with them just because it is a woman.
So i disagree i suppose, WOMEN LIKE MEN ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS, With all actions there are consequences and some actions means those consequences are harsh.
I will give you an example. A friend of mine walked out of the ocean beach hotel one night. Most people in Perth know the pub, and there in front of him was two so called women kicking the crap out of another. This bird was getting a fair old hiding.
Wayne walked over and stopped the fight, as he bent down to help the girl getting a beating up, he copped a punch that actually broke his nose though he didnt know it at the time.
He shoved the chick and gave her a warning. As soon as he turned his back he copped another one. He then warned this piece of work that that was two freebies he wont tolerate a third.
Well you guessed it another punch was thrown and retribution was short and swift. She got what she deserved.
Unfortunately for Wayne two blokes who were watching then came over and gave him a hiding.
The only good thing that came out of it all was the bird he tried to save they ended up together. So yes when a woman acts like a dog then yes imo they sometimes deserve to be put back in the box.
-
You can't hit women, unfortunately they know this and some act anything like it because of that.
Love the way everyone gets tough when the dude has the whole crowd against him, blokes in the background trying to get in for a hit while he is mobbed.
And yes he is a gutless prick, but don't reckon that "woman" would of been completely innocent.
Can't paint everyone with the same brush, but seems they create a real mob mentality at freo home games, need a good hard look at themselves!
-
correct, you cant. However a woman touches my wife or my my kids and il smash her one
freo tears at being s h i t
-
the incident claw mentions the bird had it coming. I once knew a bird that had on occasions jumped into a fight her partner was involved in. I used to tell her if you wanna fight like like a man, expect to get hit like a man
There is something wrong with a bloke that resorts to hitting a woman just because of what she says. shows a real weakness of character.
-
So WAT happened?
-
Should have gone to Victoria Park back in the day, WAT, you would have fainted.
Violence happens everywhere, it's not an exclusive WA trait.
Most footy supporters are okay
This one was just an utter coward.
-

I believe she was asking him to pull his head in because he was scaring her kids
No grounds for his response.

Some women are effing stupid, but the best response a man can do is just walk away.
-
Drama queens.
Who cares.
It's the All's problem.
Just another thing they stuff up.
LMAO.
Who hit a woman?
And who gives a stuff
-
What horrifies me is that hitting ANYONE without being physically threatened is JUST NOT ON.
Obviously if it is a woman or a child or anyone who is less able to defend themselves, it becomes even more cowardly.
We should all educate ourselves to get out of the neanderthal era and deal with confronting situations more calmly and sensibly. As froars said, just walk away and diffuse the situation.
-
He pushed her. Hard.
-
to paraphrase Ronald Reagan.....Turn the whole state into a car park ;D
-
He pushed her. Hard.
You shouldn't be putting your hands on anybody. The police will enforce the law here as they should. He will be punished appropriately.
-
Lmao
I'm happy for you.
Fact is, he's a idiot and he pushed her hard. Not hit.
-
And she was probably acting like a idiot
-
But we wouldn't dare address that on such a politically correct forum.....

Pushed or hit, he made her fall to the ground. You fail to grasp my point. Either action is wrong. What do you disagree on? Why are you happy for me? Can't I state an opinion?
-
The good doctor reminds me of Hawkeye on MASH when he said.....I will mend their wounds ,I will bind their wounds, and I will care for their wounds......but I will not inflict their wounds
-
Australian sporting crowds even at their worst are as tame as stuff.....if most of those purple clad queers had to stand in the old chicken run at Upton Park when West Ham are playing Millwall they'd wet their pants and start crying within 5 minutes of kick off...
...anyway...as for all you internet white knights....

Um, are there people seriously trying to justify this blokes actions in this thread?

Never said it was wrong to stand up for women. Violence against anyone is wrong whether it be gender, age, religion or race
But surely the most important thing for anyone to do is make sure the "women", "Mrs", "the Sheila", "bird" or wife is ok first and foremost
Would suggest it is cowardly to belt the living suitcases out of someone if the person who your supposedly fighting for, needs you more. Surely your loved ones welfare is just a tad more important?
-
How can you all know what caused him to lose his patience with her?
She could have just told him that she stuffed his best friend....but that's not important because it
Doesn't suit you agenda of faux, political correctness.
It's really about all you, standing on a higher moral ground.
-
You're right, it was "politically correct" of me to espouse a view of anti violence to subjugated individuals. Ill just jump off my high horse...
-
How can you all know what caused him to lose his patience with her?
She had kids with her Ox I've read in other reports. A simple request to ask him to tone his language down a bit is pretty okay as far as I'm concerned.
If he can't control himself after something like that, he needs help - a shrink, a stress ball, worry beads lol - anything but going to the footy and getting tanked no doubt and reacting to such a minor thing like he did. Moron!! Not PC either, just respect. He ain't got it.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-26/crowd-violence-man-hits-woman-fremantle-dockers-afl/6806828
The 38-year-old victim, who had asked the man to tone down his language, was treated by St John Ambulance officers for minor injuries.

No reason to kill the bloke. This isn't the stone age where its ok to carry on like a meat head looking for bloodrevenge.
Very poor form.

Wow just interesting insights to people thoughts on this situation.
No wonder we have a domestic violence issue in this country. :thumbsdown
-
You can't defend the indefensible, the video says it all. If a picture is worth a thousand words, one minute of video footage is a thesis.

Pretty depressing to be honest. I understand some peoples frustration with ideologies that are unrealistic, but any semblance of justification for this incident is despicable.
-

No, one minute of video footage and everyone thinks they have a thesis...
-
well the zapruder video was only a minute or so long and they managed to talk about it for 50 years and still going
-
Anyone seen the other video? The one that doesn't capture the moment he push/hit/struck her. She handled the situation admirably IMO. In the main video you can see the a blonde lady swinging punches at the guy (sidenote - does this make the blonde a coward? :yep). The second video actually shows the lady who was involved in the incident trying to pull the blonde lady off and telling everyone to stop because there was kids around. Gives a good indication that she truly did just ask him to tone it down.
But I guess it's more important to blindly fight against political correctness
-
Here's the vision for those that haven't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=31&v=kIiN2lImZlY

Except now every little thing is caught on film and dissected with all the seriousness of a Presidential assassination by every lay stuffwit with access to a device like they're Justice Earl Warren themselves.

Yep, before videos, this coward would have got away with it.
-
Pretty sure he would've still got his head kicked in and arrested had there not been anyone filming.
-
Language at the footy, I have no problem with it, but done with the right company, not kids and probably not within earshot of anyone other than the person you’re with. I learned the hard way. Was at the footy once and I have been known to drop a F’n’Cs a few times, up until then. But I was mouthing off and must have been talking about other things that gave me away, but the bloke in front of me turned around and said, “G’day Froars”. lol. My first introduction to Willy Powell hehe! OOPS lmao!
-
Whatever.
They're both freo supporters.
You saw the way the majority acts.
Water and people find their own level.
-
Punched, pushed, whatever. It's not ok and to insinuate that she may have provoked him is just as despicable.
-
Point is everyone is quick to for. An opinion without knowing anything.
This is really just about putting the boots into freo because they made finals again and we didn't.
It's just futuitous that the incident occurred.
That wayit enables everyone to judge and feel better about everything.
Fact is, none of you gives stuff really. Lmao.

It's just futuitous that the incident occurred.
That wayit enables everyone to judge and feel better about everything.
Fact is, none of you gives stuff really. Lmao.
That is also true, the scales of justice you always hear both sides and then you kick 'em in the guts lol.
Okay, so we're all PC people with nothing better than to go, "Oh me, oh my, isn't this world awful" lol.
But the alternative is to say nothing and let things continue. Apathy is worse than being too PC IMO.
-
I'm ok with the blokes giving him a kicking.
It goes with the territory.
He's a fickwit and the off duty copper chick was more than likely an antagonistic idiot.
-
She's an off duty copper
On duty mum
-
Yeh I know, it's not on but still....
-
How can you all know what caused him to lose his patience with her?
She could have just told him that she stuffed his best friend....but that's not important because it
Doesn't suit you agenda of faux, political correctness.
It's really about all you, standing on a higher moral ground.
lmao
you'd belt a bird because she rooted your mate?
want him all to yourself?
-
No but I was waiting for the first person to argue such....and guess what ?
It was you xx
-
Oh dear.
Was he indigenous?

They just interviewed his sister outside court on the news and her surname was Yarran - no joke.

I have a question.
What's the relationship like between the WA police and the local indigenous population of Perth?
-
Wow just interesting insights to people thoughts on this situation
Actually, if you read some of the posting that goes on here that shows a distinct lack of respect to women in general you shouldn't be surprised at all

Sorry but I'm going to throw a spanner in the PC works here.
A number of studies suggest that the highest rate of relationship based violence is from women against women.
For example:-
http://www.advocate.com/crime/2014/09/04/2-studies-prove-domestic-violence-lgbt-issue
And yes, it's not a one off and yes, plenty more studies have found the same trend.
No violence should be tolerated but perhaps women should start looking out for each other too
-
White women?
Booooooooo ;D

Article in the Guardian...
Had to chuckle at the PC comment "Alleged"
:lol
Hope this idiot serves time.
Outrage over video of man allegedly hitting woman at AFL match in Perth
Alleged assault at preliminary final between Fremantle and Hawthorn prompts condemnation from AFL over crowd violence that has marred several games this season.

Very interesting, but I'd love to read the actual study reports, it didn't appear as academic so immediately you have to question the results.
On the point of females more likely to experience violence than men, well, that deserves further clarification. I'd also feel that a woman in a lesbian relationship would be more likely to report her partner than a woman in a hetero relationship for domestic violence.
Its tricky because you also give people a supported view that "women are just as responsible for domestic violence as men" when most every academic study suggests this is just not the case; that men are in 9-10 the perpetrators and women are 6-10 victims.
-
what is so unacademic about the study, compared to the ones you reference?

This thread is rubbish.
You blokes from the west should spend 5 minutes at a scum match before you think any WA crowd is the worst in the country. Spend 1 min with a bunch of feral saints supporters and you might have an idea what it might have been like near the animal cage.
I've been to games in Darwin, Subiaco, games against Port and Adelaide too and those from South Australia bring anyone from WA to shame as at least they understand the game to a better extent.
If you ask me its far too British & South African in the west, a bunch of band wagoners that are fairly new to the game and have no idea of either the rules or the tradition of the game. More than likely that wanker that hit the girl was no doubt more likely a stinking Pom.
Facts are when it comes to ferel supporters you can't go past the feral colliwobblers because it's in there nature to be feral and we all accept it as the norm.

In the old suburban ground days, no doubt Vic Park and Moorabbin were shockers to go to :help. But since ground rationalisation in Victoria and all Melbourne clubs playing out of the MCG and Docklands, the crowds, except for an odd few idiots, have become pretty tame. More people now will complain about it being too sterile these days compared to the old days. This hasn't happened in SA and WA where the old 'kick a Vic' mentality transferred from their state of origin teams to their AFL sides. Freo fans have now become the most feral IMO.

The stuffn media....
Will use the term indigenous, only when the protagonist is the victim.
Racists pigs.

There has also been a change in attitude- at least in Victoria. The behaviour between 1980s and today has changed markedly.

She should not be telling people to keep it down.

In reality, getting into some ratbags face when he is going berko and his bloods up was a step towards disaster. Baiting the bear usually doesn't work. Let security deal with it unless you are prepared to fight the bastard in this equal opportunity world of ours
-
Let security deal with it ....
Problem is (and I know this from personal experience) majority of security do absolutely nothing. They should but they don't

Why should they kick people out?
Unless people are violent which is rare

The police were there pretty quick once an undercover cop was assaulted. I wonder if they knew as such?

So pushing an elderly man is the chest is not enough of a reason for them to do something? Have to snot someone before they should act?
-
I think we should draw a line at a stabbing.

Yeah I would think so but obviously the day it happened good 'ole security didn't think so

Lol at some of these comments. A work colleague of mine has some history with old mate. Her sister-in-law was bashed and ended up in a coma for an extended period with permanent impairment from an earlier episode from this delightful grub of a sub-human. Yeah, it's all the off-duty cop's fault.

Surely you realise by now in this new age of im allowed to do what i like.It is always someone elses fault. What the hell drugs are you on expecting people to be responsible for their own actions.
-
I think we examine all issues extensively.

There's two sides to every story

Lol at people telling people to not be rude at football games
-
I am all for making noise at the football and teaching the kids what it is like to be inside a restaurant when they are running amok ruining my night out. I then tuck them into bed and wipe away their terrified tears and tell them it will be all ok...until next weekend.
