Title: Do our players play for each other?
Post by: TigerLand on April 09, 2016, 08:21:01 PM
1. Vs Collingwood, J.Short first mark in football Pendles took his head off and made him earn it. Not 1 single player went up and stood up for him. Weak.

2. Vs Crows Cotchin kicks a goal, after being under the pump and starts pumping up the boys, 2 players went and gave him a pat on the back. Captain under seige. Great to see the pathetic support.

3. Vs Crows Rioli kicks his first goal and about 5 players go and get around him. Pretty staple now in footy that any first goal every single player gets around him. Pathetic. Same thing with his 2nd goal.

4. Vs Crows Grigg take a mark going back with the flight in front of Vlaustin who look pretty unhappy Grigg didn't pull out. Seemed selfish and would back Vlastin over Grigg who never kicks set shots.

They probably think they do, but doesn't look like it from the outside. In terms of blocks, shepherds, and generally roughing up opposition targets, I'd say we're one of the lamest. I saw Jack give menadue a spray today bc he didn't pass to him. Pretty poor form

The egg team alive and well. Bunch of stupid soft pansy limp wristed poofs playing now. As long as we don't take risks , don't rock the boat, never stick up for a teammate, don't do anything to show aggression & never ever let dusty stir up the Collingwood cheer squad with his fingers.

And the coaching staff is determined that they're all good administrators when their footy careers are over.   :clapping

It's easy to call them peanuts because they are but behind every peanut factory there's a master peanut.A peanut who teaches the younger peanuts how to be a peanut. A peanut who implements a way of thinking for the younger peanuts and ultimately is accountable for the final harvest of peanuts.

To be completely honest I think this is related to Cotchin. I don't think the players respect him enough/look up to him.

Once they're out on the field it has significantly less to do with Hardwick and a lot more to do with the on-field leaders.

I don't think Cotchin INSPIRES his team to do these things. And it's not that he isn't 'trying hard enough' - I seriously think he's just not the right bloke to lead the team as a personality.

Somebody who is liked within the club, such as Rance or Jack or Edwards should be carrying the flag IMHO.

If that is true, the players are a bunch of whingers. There should be pride in ones performance for the club, not sulking about one individual's input as captain.

Agreed.

In fact I've felt this way about every single job I've ever had.

But we all have colleagues that just don't give a F about the quality of their work and just want the payslip!

One thing that poos me to tears is the way players can block the man on the mark  but it begs the question: why does every other club do it yet I think I may have seen us do it once and I'm giving them benefit of the doubt. There's just no hardness, selflessness and team play. Too busy trying to get it in certain players hands whether they are in best position or not. Oh and stuff Grigg. The most selfish player we have on the list

I agree with what you are saying but Jack giving a spray at least shows he gives a damn. Roy Keane at Manchester United used to give sprays constantly but that seemed to bring the best out of his colleagues. Multiple players at this club need to stand up and be counted and make their presence known.

Anyone see Rance give it to Houli when Betts (from memory) kicked that goal in the 3rd quarter? Rance actually grabbed his jumper and gave him a shove. Houli stopped and argued for about 20 seconds. Rance was fuming and wanted to kill him but had to walk away before it escalated.

That's all fine and dandy when he usually helps his teammates but in that situation he simply got sucked half way into the contest and didn't even influence it. That is football 101 for a backman. Stick to your man or influence the contest. Not get caught half way between both. Not sure how that is hard to comprehend?

On him expecting some help? I did state that Houli should have done better

Who would even know who is on who in our backline. They all seem to have a different opponent after every goal. There is next to no accountability at all. Rance was on Betts at times (which is just plain stupid but that's another story) but so was Houli. But I'm tipping when it comes to defending and playing on an opponent, my man Rance knows a little more about it. For him to be so "strong" at Houli tells me he didn't do the team thing....but what would I know, I was about 10 beers in by that stage.

I had a feeling Rance was on him at this time and checking the replay confirms it for me. Agree with Rance knowing more and Houli let him down. Not sure how many times Rance has probably helped him out and that's what Rance needed at that point in time. As I've said before, even during his form slump, if they played to Rance's level we'd win a lot more than we lose.

Saying that, I know Judge is a major apologist when it comes to our star players. In his eyes they have no faults and deserve no criticism

Rance has become such a good defender because he is prepared to assist team mates by double teaming opponents. This distinguishes him from other members of the backline. The defence were under the pump against Adelaide because of our woeful disposal. If our disposal improved Rance would less and less be put in a such a position as he found himself in on that day

Yep I did Penelope. Did you also see my big boy Tyler (now nearly 14 yo on it as well?)
Daniel, the man who is considered an expert in the field of practising echo location teaching the kids at "Insight" ( Tyler's school that he attends for vision impairment) guiding the kids on how to develop these skills.

So much inspiration on offer in this world for all of us if you just give it a chance.

I actually got to meet him and was also interview.
Thankfully, you didn't have to see my mug as the editors had better ideas.

Thanks for the mention.

He, and yourself,  immediately came to mind when i saw the story and i wondered if Tyler attended the school.

It's amazing how adaptable the body can be and how resilient some people are.

True

Geelong have a number of leaders

They don't need the best player getting rubbed out

Big picture;  I think it symbolises how good team okay for each other

And the tigers are limp weak soulless gimps by and large

You have that right

Geelong fly the flag for each other

 Richmond ?

Funny enough when there team was scrapping Danger and Selwood were nowhere near the action

Danger was the own that go taken out

Sel wood went to talk to Scott

Seemingly the other Geelong 20 / 16 players were quick to go into the action

The opposite of Richmond under hardwick
Whilst watching last night I said this would never happen at Richmond. What a bunch of poofs.

Tom Bugg should never have been let to walk off the ground. Weak dogs Richmond again.

Jack and Cotch only decent
