Will be missing Darcy Gardner & Ryan Lester from defence which will weaken them a little.
Would be a mighty effort to get close up there.

Free hit.
Rest Nank, give CCJ a game.

Free hit.
Rest Nank, give CCJ a game.
Nank will be getting a mid season bye rest in a few weeks. Why raise the white flag? The players will have the belief that they can cause the upset.

Need to make Andrews accountable help had a field day last time I know Lynch is back , but I would bring the extra tall stretch them and helps Nank to. Pickett in the ruck this week is not a good idea.
-
Will be missing Darcy Gardner & Ryan Lester from defence which will weaken them a little.
Would be a mighty effort to get close up there.
Dont know if it affects them that much. They play Marcus Adams every week starting on the bench usually.
Rckon they will Just start Adams along with Andrews and Birchall or Bring in Jack Payne and play Adams from the bench as per usual. Payne played the first three games before injury dont know if he is back playing or not.
I think their back half will go something like this its pretty settled in many ways, all bar Adams have played 9 games with Adams playing 7.
FB/ Starcevic 188/92 (9) Andrews 201/100 (9) - Ah - Chee 182/78 (9)

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick knows his team has fond memories of the Gabba despite a fiery qualifying final loss to the Lions last year
Russell Gould
news.com.au
19 May 2021
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick believes the “solid gems” he has found among the young talent on his list will keep his team in the hunt to launch another premiership tilt when his injured stars return.
It’s the first time Richmond returns to the Gabba since last year’s grand final win over Geelong, and a place where Hardwick said his team had some “good memories”.
But this time it will be emerging Tigers like Hugo Ralphsmith, Riley Collier-Dawkins and Rhyan Mansell leading the Richmond charge.
“It’s a good opportunity for those young boys that stood up on the weekend to have another opportunity against a really good Brisbane side,” Hardwick said on Wednesday.
“It still keeps us in the hunt, which is really important this time of year. Once we get that more experienced talent back in the side it’s only going to hold us in good stead.
“The positive for us is we’ve found some players.
“Riley Collier-Dawkins was terrific again last week, Hugo Ralphsmith showed he’s going to be a player of the future. Mansell has been terrific ever since he came into the side.
“It’s been a little bit of a painful ride along the way, but the fact of the matter is we’ve found some really solid gems out of it as well.”
The Lions took full advantage of playing on their home ground when the teams last met, winning last year’s qualifying final by 15 points.
Hardwick’s memories of that game, which was a small hiccup on to the way to grand final glory, were of his team’s poor discipline, which he won’t allow this time.
“They beat us by three goals last year, discipline was a big area in that part of the game we let ourselves down in,” he said.
“We gave away four 50m penalties (for) goals and the game was decided by three goals.
“We know when we play our best footy it’s on the edge, but we have to make sure we don’t give away free kicks that give the opposition easy goals.”

Andrews will play on Lynch and Adams will play on Jack. Good luck any of the other blokes when Dusty goes forward. Birchall hasn't played on a man in 10 years so it wont be him.

The umps tonight:
Chris Donlon (1)
Mathew Nicholls (15)
John Howorth (17)

Adams we can expose if we play it smart.Hoping Ross performs needs to show more.
-
Barrett and Nat Edwards talk about our game.
Not sure how that Predator quote applies to the current Brisbane side right now given we're the underdogs in this match :huh3. Make more sense if we made that quote.
Listen: https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=830597
In this episode ...
0:27 - It's been 20 years since Leigh Matthews famously used the line rom Predator: If it bleeds, we can kill it
2:09 - The "massive hole" in the Lions side
2:53 - The Tigers using injury crisis as an opportunity
3:50 - Is Brisbane's history repeating?
https://www.afl.com.au/news/616831/listen-if-it-bleeds-you-can-kill-it-will-tigers-be-brisbane-s-01-bombers-
And from Barrett's Sliding Doors column:
IF ...
you look at the top eight ...
THEN ...
the team which looks most vulnerable, even after last week's retrieval of a 28-point deficit against GWS, when it comes to premiership credentials is the team sitting eighth. But that team is Richmond. And because it is Richmond it is probably still favourite.

-
Will Martyn is the sub which is a bit of a surprise.
Like last week it's all about the midfield tonight. Can we match the Lions' mids with all our outs?
Jack to Lynch who marks. But he misses another set shot.
-
Jack too good for Adams. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 1.1-7
Bris 0.0-0
-
Jack again to good for Adams. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 2.1-13
Bris 0.0-0
-
Winning the 50/50 contests so far.
Goal to Naish :gotigers.
Rich 3.1-19
Bris 0.0-0
-
Schoolboy error by Houli. You always punch from behind :scream.
19 - 7
-
If Astbury is going to play 2nd ruck and not defence then we might as well play CCJ who is a genuine ruck, more agile and can contest and mark the down the line kick. The latter is where we are stalling in the last 5 mins.
-
Geez, the soft frees are starting to roll now! 7-1
-
Gee that was soft to Cameron fmd
-
So Daniher can fly for unrealistic attempts?
Here come the umps. Another free to Brisbane ::).
19 - 13
-
Umps lifting for the Lions, need to steady
-
Great reply out of the centre. Graham long kick, Lynch almost hangs on in the contest and Aarts crumbs and snaps a goal :gotigers
Rich 4.1-25
Bris 2.3-15
-
OMG we actually got a free. Adams panicked and pushed Jack. Jack's 3rd :gotigers.
Rich 5.1-31
Bris 2.4-16
-
No problem with the free but let's see how hot on HTB they are when we tackle a Lions player.
-
11-2 frees and a 50 lol
-
Aarts thought it was his free you stupid ump ::).
-
Absolutely getting raped right now. We have to play touch footy. 3 of those high contact tackles looked good tackles
-
Mark and goal to them on the siren :banghead
Quarter time
Richmond 5.1-31
Brisbane 3.5-23
Goals: Riewoldt 3, Aarts, Naish.
-
They barely disguise the bs these umpires, they trip over themselves to blow the whistle and give out frees to the opposition every week
-
Geez they got a real armchair ride the last 10 minutes. Umps had it locked in our half.
-
And it is always when the momentum is swinging our way and we put the pressure on em.
-
Usual crap from the The flouro SHocking Troops... :thumbsdown
...and move Houli the stuff out of that back pocket.... :help
-
Ballwatching in the middle :banghead.
Lucky they missed.
-
Over the shoulder on Lynch not paid ::).
-
#FreeKickBrisbane ::).
Frees 3 - 13 ::)
-
Not HTB for us ::). That was the same as Baker in the first.
-
Much better. Finally got the ball forward via Rioli. Hits up Dusty 35 out. Chips to Aarts on a better angle. Goal! :gotigers
Needed that one against the play.
Rich 6.1-37
Bris 3.8-26
-
Aarts and Crafts slots a big steadier.
-
Give that Lions player an Oscar ::).
37 - 32
Poor play on the wing by us before that. Dusty missed Ralphsmith then Hugo fumbled and got caught.
-
That play on the wing sums up the maggots. We lay a tackle one-on-one ball spills out, no free Ralphsmith gets no prior and gets pinged 10 seconds later.
-
RCD out of the middle :clapping.
If Naish saw Ross then that was brilliant otherwise he was lucky.
Ross goal :gotigers.
Rich 7.1-43
Bris 4.8-32
-
Grrr! That was a gift letting that get over the back :banghead.
43 - 38
-
Lol, replay shows Robinsons tackle was high on Dusty!
-
Lynch pushed in the back right in front of the ump at that stoppage and no free.
:banghead
-
Even BT is calling for a free against us almost every second possession
-
We want consistency from the umps and it's not there. We can't hardly touch them without it being a free to them :banghead.
-
Why was Jack called play on straight away when he didn't move? ::)
Point to Aarts.
44 - 45
-
Some very soft efforts defensively this qtr.
Why didn't go for the mark Astbury? That was terrible.
44 - 51
-
What’s happened to Astbury... dear oh dear, taps it straight to a Brisbane player instead of taking the mark.
-
Can Dimma stand up for the boys and give these cheats a half time spray.
-
Again these cheats call us (Lynch) to play on without Lynch moving >:(.
-
This is the biggest stitch up I’ve seen. I’m rewinding the game and still can’t figure out why some of these frees are being paid.
-
Half-time
Richmond 5.1 7.2-44
BrisUmps 3.5 7.9-51
Goals: Riewoldt 3, Aarts 2, Naish, Ross.
Hard to beat playing against 25.
-
Can Dimma stand up for the boys and give these cheats a half time spray.
Every week we cop this Umpiring crap but tonight really takes the cake. You can see it in the players to, they are getting really frustrated.
-
Greetings from the Gabba
Umpiring is a shambles
Astbury gifted the one of the softest goals of the season.
They've got inside Grimes head. The niggle and off the ball stuff.
There's a few that are struggling with the pressure of the game
-
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E16BoB9VoAMizcS?format=jpg&name=large)
#Cheats ::)
-
check this out...
rioli 3 dis
ross 4 dis
hugo 3 dis
castagna 3 dis
graham 5 dis
pickett 6 dis
and we expect to win??????
-
Plenty of Tiges need to lift especially in the middle. Need to harden up. Mind you that's hard with these soft umps. Our forwards didn't get much of it because it hardly got passed centre.
Dimma just mentioned the 6-21 free kicks. Obviously not happy and rightly so.
-
Bloody fumbling. We were out then Aarts.
-
Geez these umps are cheats. Brisbane players get all the time in the world to take their kicks yet we get called to play on even before we get back behind our mark.
-
Pickett's disposals have been ordinary tonight.
-
Nice pass by George to Lynch. Now can Tom finally kick straight? Yes finally :gotigers
Rich 8.3-51
Bris 7.9-51
-
Pickett's disposals have been ordinary tonight.
Yep, shocking. He wouldn't look out of place in a Tigers side of the late 80s.
-
In the back to Rioli not paid ::).
-
To many passengers again tonight and senior players not putting in we won't win unless we get a 4 qtr effort.
-
Matthieson stuffing cheat
-
Geez we've been hesitant at the fall of the ball. Had first hands or even a chance to kick it forward off the ground and done neither allowing Brisbane to get a chance to clear.
-
Another call of play on without moving off the line.
-
Our young/bottom 6 have struggled tonight. Fumbling especially at crucial times.
-
Naish doesn't play ever again for that effort
-
What a pathetic chase effort from Naish then.
-
Again our youngsters exposed. Ralphsmith and Naish unable to run and keep up with their direct opponent.
-
It’s pretty simple. Our midfield is destroyed with injuries and this is a lesson for the next gen.
-
We finally get a free for too high and that was probably the softest compared to all the ones they've missed on us.
George misses from 25 :facepalm.
53 - 64
-
Zorko threw it first and then gets the free for push in the back ::)
-
Kick a drop punt you goose
-
Up against it with our midfield outs, but this umpiring is the knock out punch
-
This umpiring is honestly stuffed. Never seen anything like this week in and work out
-
Too many passengers tonight. We're out on our feet. We can't get numbers to the fall of the ball and they have free players in space on the spread.
-
Game over man.
-
Well, let’s hope we file this one away in the memory bank. Brisbane boys are a little lippy.
-
I'd love to smack that Mathieson diving prick.
...if I could box...
-
Went in with very low expectations tonight and it's panned out that way.
The Lions a very good, solid team. Harder & tougher for longer.
I'll take 5-5 after 10 rounds. 7-5 at the bye hopefully with some players back.
I do believe selection an issue not playing Caddy & CCJ.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 5.1 7.2 8.5-53
Brisbane 3.5 7.9 11.11-77
Goals: Riewoldt 3, Aarts 2, Lynch, Naish, Ross.
Brave for 2.5 qtrs but continually having to defend thanks to the umps gifting Brisbane frees and forward momentum has now caught up. We've got no run in our legs left. This good get ugly in the last :help.
-
How was that push in the back for Zorko lol a throw umpiring is cheating.
-
I do believe selection an issue not playing Caddy & CCJ.
Unfortunately Caddy is too slow now days.
Definitely missing another tall or at least a tall that can provide a marking target for our defenders to kick to and provide a bridge between our backs and forwards. We've been killed on the down the line kick tonight. We've also been killed in the clearances especially when Nank isn't rucking.
-
Out of centre. Hugo to Jack 40 out. Misses.
54 - 77
-
Balta has been our best tonight by far.
-
Overpossessing by hand and fumbling again. No wonder our forwards are out of position for when finally a bombed kick goes inside 50.
-
I’ve seen more than enough of Houli. But, he has laid his first tackle since 2009.
-
Shocking kick Naish. Open man down the line and you kick straight to the Lion.
-
Naish is seriously garbage. I know we are digging into depth here but he is no good at all. Not at this level.
-
That was a soft goal. Ballwatching :banghead.
-
I know we lack body's at the moment, but gez some decisions so poor keep it simple will find out about a few kids this year.
-
Look at the disposals. Lots of player who basically haven't touched it. Put a line through Ross, Naish I reckon.
Rioli probably has to go this week.
Houli may be cooked.
-
Obviously a really rough night for the young miss against brissy. But what the hell has Ross done ? We need more from him. Graham too. These guys are meant to be our next A graders !! Perfect opportunity for them to shine and they’re just falling to bits
-
Geez our disposals have been poor tonight even before fatigue has set in. Can't hit an open target. Another poor kick (Rioli). Jack in front and you kick above his head :facepalm.
-
Dusty long to the square and Lynch took a great mark against Andrews. Goal! :gotigers.
Keep fighting Tiges! Percentage will be important by the end of the season.
Rich 9.6-60
Bris 12.12-84
-
Whats wrong with Vlastuin. Has not been the same player this year.
-
How many goals have they got starting from free kicks up the ground? ::)
-
Whats wrong with Vlastuin. Has not been the same player this year.
Why is he on Hipwood?
-
Never going to win with blatant cheating stuffumpires
Just move on and hope next week the frees are mostly against us instead of totally against us
-
I'm sorry but these youngsters should be playing for their lives and careers but seem to be running around softly.
Send them a video of Mitch Robinson. Guys a flog but he's hard and tough
-
Marlion reported.
A free kick yes but that's not reportable. Surely a fine at worst.
-
Shouldn't that be 50 against Andrews? It's a stupid rule but you're meant to stand on the mark.
Lynch gets the goal anyway.
Rich 10.6-66
Bris 13.12-90
-
Tackle that went high. Not late, free kick. But... it’s Richmond.
-
Is Harris Andrew wacko?
-
Or maybe he is born and bred Brisbane
-
That effort from Houli....should retire asap
-
Terrible defending Tiges. Allowing a floating kick to be marked uncontested at the top of goalsquare :banghead.
-
Mitch Robinson = May premiership player
-
That effort from Houli....should retire asap
Sadly old age is catching on Bachar. Not clean by hand and agile by foot as he use to be.
-
28 frees to 14 and they’ve tucked the whistle away in the last quarter.
-
Ross kicks his 2nd.
Rich 11.6-72
Bris 15.12-102
-
28 frees to 14 and they’ve tucked the whistle away in the last quarter.
They did their job for Brisbane. Wore us down making us defend and play from the backline.
-
Lynch not getting enough straight line momentum in his run up. That's why he's missing.
73 - 102
-
Commentators just said we've had a good run with injuries last few years. Spare me
-
Final Score
Richmond 5.1 7.2 8.5 11.8-74
Brisbane 3.5 7.9 11.11 15.12-102
Goals: Lynch 3, Riewoldt 3, Aarts 2, Ross 2, Naish.
At least we played the game out and didn't allow the scoreboard to blow out in the last qtr beyond 5 goals.
-
The umps tonight:
Chris Donlon (1)
Mathew Nicholls (15)
John Howorth (17)
They should give themselves the Brownlow votes tonight. B.O.G. for Brisbane ::).
-
My team selection had Coleman-Jones in for Rioli. Caddy in as a big bodied mid
I think I was right - Nank needed help another tall up forward stretches their defence.
We were bullied inside and caddy would’ve been handy for team balance and added spice on the field.
We were smashed in clearance with too many youngsters.
Rioli must be dropped this week as he should have for this game. Atrocious. Castagna not much better.
-
Apparently there are new rules they are trying out, Richmond has to play with their arms tied, no contact initiated by themselves in any contest.
-
Definitely should look to play another ruck as Astbury is pathetic playing on ball.
-
Ross what is the hype about I don't see it.Naish 4 years in system has no tank.
-
Definitely should look to play another ruck as Astbury is pathetic playing on ball.
Rioli?
-
Some match-ups were off given we used Astbury as 2nd ruck. Floss should not have been on Hipwood. That's when we needed CCJ in the ruck and kept Astbury down back freeing up Floss to intercept.
-
Free Kick Brisbane
-
Some match-ups were off given we used Astbury as 2nd ruck. Floss should not have been on Hipwood. That's when we needed CCJ in the ruck and kept Astbury down back freeing up Floss to intercept.
Broken record CCJ and second ruck we could structure so much better and the cattle is there.
-
We had a lot of players fumbling tonight too. Even Dusty wasn’t clean. Baker who is normally clean was unusually fumbly.
It was a common theme all night as well as the poor inconsistent umpiring and the rubbish game from Rioli and Castagna.
-
Where is Jack Graham at?
Jack Ross? to slow?
Naish doesn’t look like he will make it?
Forward system, bombing it has been worked out now.
Defence is leaking goals.
-
The effort was there they just lacked the execution tonight against a very good side. Crows and bombers to come with majority of our stars set to return in the coming 1/2 weeks. If we turn at 7-5 we’ll be in a very good position.
-
Umpiring had them frustrated and second guessing themselves and wore them down as much as anything Brisbane did.... :shh
-
We really lack run out of the back half this year. Probably as a result of our midfield issues and not wanting to run off their man too much. Our spread and work rate has been poor when we do get the ball moving our way. Again, perhaps worrying about being beaten when the ball comes back the other way?

We're very unwatchable at the moment :help
The new batch of kids aren't anything to get excited by and going into the foward line is excruciatingly torturous. We're a low possession team, and when we're getting smacked it's very hard to watch.
-
Whats wrong with Vlastuin. Has not been the same player this year.
Why is he on Hipwood?
agree
-
I was at the game and the umpiring was terrible. Balta our best. Houli has a shocker. Lots of players fumbly. Music after the Lions scored - Baby Shark???? And the Lions players dancing???
Highlight was sitting next to The Tiger King
-
IIRC there was a big sling tackle I think it was on Baker in our forward line in the last half of the last quarter, and crickets from the umpires. I thought sling tackles were an immediate free kick??
-

Yeah Julz, the after goal nonsense on the big screen is embarrassing.

AFL report card: Round 10
Max Laughton, Ben Waterworth, Matt Balmer and David Zita
Foxsports
24 May 2021
RICHMOND
For all of the billing of a Friday night blockbuster, it was always going to be tough for this version of Richmond to head up to the Gabba and beat this version of Brisbane. They acquitted themselves relatively well, keeping within around a goal at halftime, before fading in the second half. They’re not in the top eight right now but it’s fine; they’ll be back.
In the votes
With many big names absent, several lesser-known Tigers stood up, with Jake Aarts (17 disposals, two goals) and Kamdyn McIntosh (19 disposals, 533 metres gained) both having their best games for the club according to the AFL Player Ratings. Noah Balta (17 disposals, seven marks, 13 intercepts) was a rock in defence while Tom Lynch and Jack Riewoldt each kicked three goals.
Room for improvement
The loss had nothing to do with the free kick count; the Tigers were simply beaten up in the contest. They had just 24 clearances to the Lions’ 51, including 13 to the Lions’ 35 from stoppages, along with big losses in the inside 50 and contested possessions counts. Dustin Martin had an atypically quiet night, spending plenty of time forward but failing to hit the scoreboard.

So we lost the free kick count heavily
we lost the inside 50 count heavily
lost the clearance count heavily
lost the stoppage count heavily
and Martin was somewhat contained
Yet we lost by less than 5 goals. like our chances next time against Brisbane, even if we just improve the above counts to minor losses

One positive and negative from Round 10
Andrew Slevison
SEN
25 May 2021
RICHMOND
Positive: First half
Richmond started brightly at the Gabba, kicking the opening three goals before taking a lead into the quarter-time break.
Although they were beaten four goals to two in the second term, the Tigers remained right in the contest.
There were some promising first-half performances, namely from Jack Riewoldt (three goals) and Jayden Short (15 disposals), but it was not a consistent effort overall.
The lack of senior bodies around the ball quickly showed as the Lions took control in the third quarter.
There was enough to like early from the Tigers but they were unable to sustain it over four quarters.
Negative: Not coping with attention
While some of the attention may have been unwarranted, it looked as though the Tigers didn’t really enjoy how the Lions were up in their face… again.
It happened in last year’s Qualifying Final and a similar tact was taken on Friday night.
The likes of Rhys Mathieson, Mitch Robinson and Harris Andrews were overly demonstrative in the way they went about unsettling the Richmond players, and it worked.
The Tigers were undermanned when taking on a genuine contender on the road, and while they performed well at stages, they ultimately come up short.
Some of that has to do with the fact they were overawed, particularly around the ball with the Lions smashing them 51-24 in clearances.

Easy to act pseudo-tough in round 10 when your playing on kids and inexperienced players in our midfield. Not to mention Rhys Mathieson's high shot on Short which wasn't sighted yet Pickett was suspended for the exact same thing ::). Let's see how their self-proclaimed "barometer" who has never played in final in his 6 years :wallywink goes up against us at full strength with Cotch, Prestia, Edwards, Lambert and Bolton back in our midfield in a final when it matters.
