Excellent. Could be a shalacking though. Thanks OE.

No Neville any longer in the midfield but you'd hope our cubs will be a year better to boost the Burgers. Geelong isn't as strong as last year given a fair few of their fringe and VFL players were drafted by other AFL clubs. Hopefully Coburg put in a competitive effort this time around.
-
Where did Neville go to MT ???

Where did Neville go to MT ???
Went back to Sandy I think. Is that right? It is where he was before coming to Coburg.

You are probably right.
-
If I remember correctly he has gone back to Box Hill, but not 100% sure. Maybe 80% sure.

He went to the Hawks affiliate. That's Box Hill I think so you are correct. Now he's no longer at the Tigers I have strangely lost interest in him. :rollin
-
Yes, he is back at Box Hill.
Wonder if Kane Johnson will play this week against Geelong, i think if he is trying to set an example then he should play VFL and lead the youngsters to a first up victory.

Actually that's a good idea.

Johnson would dominate a game in the VFL
l prefer RFC to squash the self imposed suspension

Thanks for the info I will watching it now that I know about it. :gotigers

And where is Alex Rance? He played well last week in the Coburg 2s, theres no point playing the kid in the Coburg 2nds.
-
I am gobbed smacked they still leave Collard in the 2s he will make an impacked in the afl if given the opportunity to play football why are they holding the young fella back most of the other clubs have incouraged this youth policey give the young fella a go and see what he can why hold back????????
-
maybe he just aint good enough or following or following team rules.
you seem to love him so much, why not ask him out for dinner and ask him?
but i can tell u now, he is now where as good as morton and morton isn't in the team yet!
p.s. collard is still only a rookie. he cant just walk in the team, has to do the hard work like foley king thursty etc
-
no easy ride for collard. he needs to HTFU first. then he will be given an go and rightfully so as his attitude needs serious testing.
He's been given clearly set targets and until he satisfies those he wont be making any leeway towards promtoion.
i cant understand why your so dramatic about a rookie listed player?
hes a fantastic crumber but needs to correct many other parts of his game namely his defensive game.

Tivs is good value. Will be very good for the young kids in the 2's and I don't mean that in a derogatory fashion either. I get the feeling he will take his role at Coburg very seriously. He won't do a Gaspar that's for sure.

been watching the game, morton and jack are just way too good for vfl level. they better be in the team next week v the pies
tivs must stay in the vfl, playing ok but he should and has found his level in the vfl
like Edward's and connors game, doing great link up work as well as white, but white imo is in the tiv mould.
and one thing is for sure, jade rawlings can coach , all his knockers should eat their words
also cartledge is playing very good also

Now even more resolve and determination, if they need more, should be in the boys tomorrow just to hold their spot. :gotigers
-
Good Lord, what a pasting! Thanks for the match reports guys - us banana benders would be clueless otherwise.
-
Superb effort by the Burger boys. Great all-round performance but could not help but think that the Cats didn't have their minds at the game.
Brief rundown of what I thought of the Richmond guys
Connors - Solid game from him, he is so quick in what he does it is almost too quick for his teammates. He would handball the ball and the guy who is the target wouldn't even realise lol. Very happy with his progess. :clapping
JON - Solid game again. Looked quicker in the mind, didn't take forever to dispose of the ball and kicking was suprisingly clean. In one passage of play showed great vision and skill. On the wing, ducked around a few players and delivered beautifully to Shelton.
White - Probably best on ground. Ran hard and fast. Was in everything. In the mix for a recall next week
Tivendale - Don't like him but credit where due. Was very good today. Found heaps of the ball, ran hard and disposal would be amongst the best today.
Morton - Started like a house on fire, was it 3-4 goals in the 1st qtr. Faded a bit after that but was still a good contributor. Good skills, good mark overhead and good size.
Riewoldt - Very classy performance from Jack. Did everything you want from a key forward. Kicked goals, took strong marks and straigthened the team up.
Silvestor - Looked slow and lumbering, not his best day
Cartledge - Suprisingly good, strong in the ruck contests and got a fair bit of the pill around the ground.
Edwards - Quiet day from him. Didn't see him get too much of the ball
Collins - Very impressed by this young fella. Only slight but geez he is hard at it. Found a fair bit of the pill and save for one turnover kicked the ball very well. Seemed very assured in his skills
Apologies if I have missed anyone
-
Well Coburg will probably be premiership favourites after today although Geelong is a different side compared to last year. I was very impressed with our tackling and team pressure. We also didn't take any crap and made sure we let Geelong opponents all about it.
Well the pressure is on the 22 tomorrow to perform as 4 or 5 have put their hands up today. I agree with most of Bluey's assessment.
Morton - A lazy 7 and a class above this level. Just too smart for his Geelong opponents.
Jack - Still occasionally goes for marks from behind when close to goal but hard to fault a 6 goal game. Lead well across HF and good hands. Like Morton a class above. The question mark is on his pace which isn't tested in the VFL. Vying for Cleve's spot.
White - Best game I've seen Matty play. Used his pace to break away from contests or get on the end of receives. Disposal was decent which has been question mark on Matty.
Tivs - cops it but everytime he's played at Coburg he's turned up and worked his backside off compared to others his age in the past who have sulked. Got a heap of it across half-back and pushed forward for 4 goals as well. Disposal was still Tiv like at times but he had a good game.
Connors - Solid. Clever vision dishing off by hand in congestion to running teammates. A better accountable game defensive wise too IMO.
Collins - liked his game. Solid. Looked to have plenty of time out there when he had the ball.
Cartledge - This is probably his level but would be in our top 3 today. Dominant ruckman on the ground and linked up well with our smalls. Ronaldson who?
Edwards - didn't do much today in a dominant side. The talk at training as to why he isn't in the seniors looked on the money today. Looked a fraction sluggish compared to his usual self although he laid some top tackles.
JON - Quiet early. Did more in the second half. A mixture of the very good and the brain fades.
McGuane - thought he struggled 1-on-1 today.
Silvester - Solid in what he did when the ball was in our defence.
As for the Burger players Shelton, Fortunato, Carnell and Morris on debut were good.
-
Young john morris looked very good in the clinches. Liked his game a lot. Hard at it and disposal is tidy. Reminds me a lot of his older brother Dale
-
Johno Morris was fantastic today in the backline, always gives a great contest.
Great win by the boys today, everyone was very happy and pretty much all players contributed.
Cogs was in the rooms at half time and is hoping to play next week.
Go the Burgers :thumbsup
-
JON, anyone here who thinks he played a good game must of been watching SBS the afternoon and not the ABC ::)
FFS, he has little idea. ::)
-
I don't see JON making it and still can't believe he was rated a first round pick but he wasn't the worst out there and I can think of four good passes to leading teammates. When he went for the first option and didn't hold onto the footy he was okay.
Cogs was in the rooms at half time and is hoping to play next week.
Good stuff. Did Cogs just have a slight hammy TFL?

Not too sure on Cogs MT, just know he is hoping to get out there next week.
Agree on some of the comments about Collins, he looked pretty good today. Would like to see how some of these kids go under a little bit more heat.
Coburg jumped the Cats big time today and really set the standard. It will be interesting to see how some of our younger kids go when they are required to lift another gear when a game is in the balance.
Hopefully they can perform like today :thumbsup

Good to see the Richmond players perform to good standard
infact it was a great team effort in those wet conditions & heavy ground which was not very flash at all
not much of a crowd there which shows VFL footy is not good as everyone makes out
Good performance from Tivendale he run hard all day & kicked goals one very nice one on the run. A few more games like that he be pushing for his spot back :clapping :clapping :clapping :gotigers

Morton should be playing senior footy at Richmond.
Jack Riewoldt got the goals but theres still something missing.
Conners is going to be ok
Edwards was disappointing
Collins I liked.
Matt White is a squad player for mine. Somewhere between 28 and 35 on a list.
Cartledge was competitive at this level today, hes a decent 4th ruckman on a list.

Tigers turn tables on champion
Carley Jellett | March 30, 2008 | The Age
THE Coburg Tigers turned the tables on Geelong after a 74-point grand final loss last season, beating the premier by 75 points at ABD Stadium yesterday.
First-time coach Jade Rawlings was pleased with Coburg's win but said it had nothing to do with revenge. "We didn't speak about it at all," he said. "We spoke about how we want to be perceived going forward. Whatever happened today was never going to exact any revenge from last year because the damage was done in September last year."
Mitch Morton and Jack Riewoldt put their hands up to be selected for Richmond, kicked seven and six goals respectively. But Rawlings said their efforts in doing the team thing, as opposed to focusing on getting recruited to the seniors, was a key to the victory.
"One of the really good things with the Richmond-listed players today was they played the game as it should have been played instead of looking for results and what might happen if they played well.
"They actually just went and played and those guys have put performances out there that will be very competitive this week."

Interesting the the differences in stats.
I read this morning that Tiv only had 25 touches.
Coburg's stats say he had 40 with 25 in the first half and 4 goals on top of that!!!
He musnt have showered yesterday coz no one went close to him all day.
-
i second john morris. this kid really imprssed me and has determination in spades.

jack,
you are a disgrace
you prove it time and time again.
The performance yeasterday was just outstanding. Mathew White, Morton, riewalt, connors collins were sensational.
to lament on the performance of JON when he improved after half time, is just inaccurate and sad.
Get on board and support this developing young team instead of sniping it at every opprtunity.

Another quality post Blaisee. The way you post you have the arrogance of someone who supports a team who has won back to back flags, you are a complete tool. The difference between VFL and AFL is huge, maybe you should go to a few games ::)
Fact is that Matty White struggles at AFL level.
Connors was ok
I liked Mortons game.
Reiwoldt, has to improve in certain areas and in his handful of games at AFL hasnt done much

Reiwoldt, has to improve in certain areas and in his handful of games at AFL hasnt done much
Dont let reality get in the way of some tool who wants to post crap on the internet ::) ::) :banghead :banghead :banghead
you describe yourself perfectly.
support the tigers and stop sniping, i wont let you get away with it

not much of a crowd there which shows VFL footy is not good as everyone makes out
I will assume TMonk you watched it on the TV? The crowd was on the TV side of the ground. Not a great crowd but reasonable around the 1000 mark I would reckon.
The quality of the actual game is extremely good. The crwod sizes in another issude IMHO. How you get the crowd numbers up is the $64 question as they say
Was a very good game :thumbsup
Especially happy with the team orientated stuff, chasing, tackling etc and 2nd and 3rd efforts that what it is about. The monet the Burgers got away from that Geelong scored those goals late in the 3rd.
Agree with others with the assessment of the RFC boys. I was particularly impressed with Cartledge - alot more mobile that I had seen him previously
-
Tivs is good value. Will be very good for the young kids in the 2's and I don't mean that in a derogatory fashion either. I get the feeling he will take his role at Coburg very seriously. He won't do a Gaspar that's for sure.
Spot on RROFO 100%
He showed that yesterday - was excellent :thumbsup

great game by tivs and morton. the ladder is certainly fit for senior footy.
if they are serious about reiwaldt then play him in the seniors for like 5 weeks in a row. Let him build his confidence by playing seniors more than one game here or there.
as for JON when he plays seniors something is missing in my eyes. He can collect 30 posy's for coburg but he aint fit for senior footy. In fact i cringe every time he goes near the footy, thats how poor i rate him.
nonetheless a great performance but need to back it up against north
-
JON, anyone here who thinks he played a good game must of been watching SBS the afternoon and not the ABC ::)
FFS, he has little idea. ::)
AFTER pumping the reigning premiers by 12 goals all you have to say is to bag jon
get a life you miserable prick
Another quality post by Blaisee, keep up the quality posts.
For what its worth, I was talking to my contact at the burgers and they are thrilled with the younger players they have.
Actually I really like Caruso :thumbsup
Reminder Blaisee, if Tivs can look like an absolute champion playing at the burgers, I wouldnt get to carried away you ""quality tool ""
Actually you should win tool of the week for your quality internet posts :clapping :clapping :clapping :clapping :clapping :clapping
jack,
you are a disgrace
you prove it time and time again.
The performance yeasterday was just outstanding. Mathew White, Morton, riewalt, connors collins were sensational.
to lament on the performance of JON when he improved after half time, is just inaccurate and sad.
Get on board and support this developing young team instead of sniping it at every opprtunity.

I was particularly impressed with Cartledge - alot more mobile that I had seen him previously
WP is Angus Graham playing in the Coburg 2's or is he injured ?
Who was the 2nd ruck for Coburg yesterday, and how did he perform ?
-
Graham is injured, not sure how long he is out for.
There were no 2's yesterday DT, they start this weekend :thumbsup

No VFL reserves this week Darth - they start next week.
So Gus Graham didn't play not sure exactly if he is injured - did have his ankle heavily iced after last weeks Coburg praccy game.
Coburgs back up ruckman was a bloke called Chris Stewart who come from North Heidelberg. He's about 6ft 5".
Stewart was a standout player in the TAC cup 4 odd years and was considered a top 10 draft prospect but didn't get picked up, they say because of his workrate.
I don't really know that much about alot that or the TAC cup kids so if someone else remembers him they maybe able to explain it a bit better

Coburg Tigers prepare to roar
Greg Gliddon

WITH AFL lists constantly changing, it is hard to gauge how VFL sides will stack up going into the season.
But this year there is reason to be optimistic at Coburg Football Club.
A senior Grand Finalist last year and runaway winner in the reserves last year, Coburg will head into the 2008 VFL season with an enviable amount of depth.
With new coach Jade Rawlings taking over from Andy Collins, who has departed to the South Australian National Football League, and a stream of top AFL draft picks to choose from most weeks, Coburg would likely expect at least another top-four finish.
The Tigers boast one of the strongest VFL-AFL club links.
They have already produced two AFL-drafted players.
Richmond picked up Jarrod Sylvester and, most notably, Jake King.
King was widely regarded as best on ground in Richmond's opening-round win over Carlton.
This year, the club's connection with TAC Cup powerhouse the Calder Cannons has also allowed it to add a host of the region's top juniors to its squad.
The club is so close to Calder that 16 of its players on the list have previously been involved with the Cannons at under-age level.
Among those are Natale and Fortunato Caruso, Andrew Horne, Shaun Huy, Nick Cattapan, Travis Dulic and Christian McErlain, while Dean Putt and Angus Graham will line up for the Tigers, having already secured places on Richmond's senior list.
The club is also developing a close relationship with the North Coburg Saints in the Essendon District Football League, with a host of Saints players expected to push for selection in the Coburg VFL side.
Tigers general manager Ryan O'Connor said the club was gaining momentum off the field, signing two new major sponsors in the off-season.
"We have had a very big pre-season to top off last year's results and we are very excited about what lies ahead," Mr O'Connor said.
"We have also confirmed Moreland Mayor Joe Caputo will be our No. 1 ticketholder this season."
The Tigers will this year host the annual Anzac Day blockbuster against Box Hill, while the club has also secured a clash with Collingwood on Mother's Day when no AFL games will be played.
Coburg hosted the Cats in the Grand Final re-match on Saturday after Moreland Leader deadline.
