Sugar normally got the job on Judd whether at the Eagles or now with the Blues. Jacko is probably favourite now but do you think we may go for someone outside the square to tag Judd that Carlton won't be expecting?
-
Good question cyclops.
Jackson is the obvious pick but geez I don't even have him in my side? ???
Maybe give Raines the job of shutting him down?? Hang on he's not in my side either??
Tough one.
-
Jacko for sure, if he is getting a bath then may go with Polo (if he makes the side)
-
Jacko would get first crack and hopefully for our sake he's the only one needed as it would mean we are winning the game. We'll still need a plan B though. Polo maybe as you said Chucky but will he make our round 1 side :-\. It's not obvious. Edwards has had run with roles in defence during the preseason but he's slight frame is no match-up for Judd.
-
Jackson for mine
If that doesn't work I'd plonk young Andrew Raines on him.... would be a very good test
-
Why don't we go left field on this and get a hard nut and a fringe player who won't be missed even if he gets heavily suspended and get him to knock the football mercenary out cold much like Cowboy Neale on Peter Hudson in the 1971 GF.
No Judd and no Stevens should equate to a Tiger victory.
If we can reminisce with glee on Balmey's antics on Southby Waite and co in 1973 why should this be any different. Its only against the scum and a good start is imperative.
Do anything to win. That should dictate to everybody we won't be anybody's whipping boys and put a smile to Old Tigers' facres who used to bellow Eat Em Alive back in the Day.
If people are too horrified by my summation then Jacko gets first crack.

Bring back Balmey?

I would like to see Jackson get him at the bounce and try to nullify his possessions, then have Tuck run with him one on one. Tuck plays very tall and is bigger than Judd, just a thought.

Tuck is nowhere near accountable enough. The most successful opponents against Judd wear him like a glove and negate him. With Johnson out, Jackson is our next best option and I'm not sure if we have an adequate 3rd option.

Just promote someone who can get in the face of the mercenary and just give it to him during the game. Rather than us lying down b/c we are intimidated let us intimidate him and if he goes down as he is captain then let them all follow suit. It's not about sportsmanship on Thursday night its about winning. It's tribal, it's feral it's against our closest rival as we both are on a similar level in terms of development. It's about getting the jump on your opponent it's an 8 point game. It's about winning at all costs and leaving the field victorious it's about the past and all the wrongs we have suffered to these Scumbuckets.
There's no room for defeat nor for being humble at the end of this one if we lose. We are not sycophantic old English Country Sunday League cricketers. We are Richmond we are the Tigers the future and our journey to destiny begins on Thursday night. Let's rub their nose in it and let's start of with a win.

like the passion there Tucker :thumbsup nothing like the heart on the sleve

Does Tuck need to be accountable if he is beating him to the ball and winning it??? I agree with Jackson on him and maybe even White off and on.

Jackson or King

Jackson or King
I would rather have King on Betts if King even plays which I doubt. Raines on Betts doesnt really do it for me, Raines is not defensive enough and the ball could go straight back over his head to Betts if he turns it over. But surely we have another backup for Jackson.

Yes he does. Judd will cut anyone to ribbons who plays wide of him and Tuck is nowhere near accountable enough to blanket him, let alone win his own ball at the same time. He is the wrong option.

So as a back up to Jackson who then????

King is quick enough and nasty enough to be a very good negating player, especially on someone with the speed of Judd. I think Jackson will get the job but King would be a better back up option unless we use one of our attacking players to nullify him which is a bit counter intuitive. I don't think Betts is damaging enough to worry about a designated player for him. Raines or Newman will be fine for him.

Don't think we have one - that's why I said this:
"With Johnson out, Jackson is our next best option and I'm not sure if we have an adequate 3rd option."
If I was forced to pick a 3rd option it would probably be either of Polo or White but I don't think Polo will play and I don't think White has the concentration to be a tagger, although he could run with Judd all night. Raines, McMahon, Tambling and Newman are not taggers and would all get toweled up; Edwards is nowhere near strong enough or tight enough; Foley, Deledio, Tuck, Thomson, Brown and Cousins are offensive players. Uuummm - best we pray Jackson does a good job. :pray If I was picking the side Plan C would be Polo, if Wallace picks the side Plan C would be White.
-
We shouldnt forget Gibbs, we have to stop Gibbs as well.
-
What we should be doing is winning the footy ourselves, because then they can be chasing our arses instead of us chasing their's. Who's going to tag deledio, foley, cousins, stuff carlton, who's going to stop us.

King
Is Juddy playing reserves this week?

Is Juddy playing reserves this week?
I hope you King haters are sorely disappointed this year. He was playing under an injury cloud for most of last year, which obviously would have affected his form, even then it wasn't that bad, just have a look at his Round 1 efforts. I suspect the only thing that will keep him out of the side early is the fact that he had significant surgury on his ankle in the off-season and he may not have 100% confidence in it yet. He is a good player and his agro is something we have been sorely needing in the side for a long time.
-
Don't hate him at all.
He does his best but IMO he's not in our best 22 and he's certainly not good enough to tag Chris Judd.
-
Sadly for Kingy opposition clubs have worked him out if he plays in the backline. They put a taller small/mid-sized forward on him and then drag him back to the last line of defence.
