"Richmond are overrated" - Tony Shaw
« on: December 31, 2008, 09:10:12 PM »
Tony Shaw's parting gift for 2008 on 3aw tonight. He said with Wallace's 5 year plan we should have been playing finals after 3 years.

Shaw also said Carlton have copied the Hawthorn model and need to play in a Grand Final in the next 2-3 years given all their the good kids they've picked up. You don't want to do a St Kilda who have missed the boat.

We are not overrated and for that matter neither are Carlton despite all the blowhard Bluebuss in the press.

Two giant clubs occupying 15th and 16th improve past several to be 9th and 11th last year. Judd there and Cousins allied to improved form with us creating a membership surge at both clubs etc etc. Any kind of revival at either club willl be news.

He is such a bitter little ferret with a blatant media bias towards his old club. He needs some proper perspective and stop looking for excuses to label other teams failures. We are on the same time line as the Blues (well close enough) and both teams need the majority of their team sitting in the mid-age bracket with plenty of games under their belts before they have a chance for ultimate success. Claiming that either team's 'premiership window' has already closed or is in the next couple of years is rediculous.

I wonder if he would've said the same thing had we picked up his troubled nephew Rhys?

The only thing that T Shaw is more biased about than the Collingwood Football Club is his football playing family.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Well I suppose Tony would know from a personal perspective all about being overrated  :wallywink

Shaw is and always will be the Pies. So this can only mean he has a big mouth as I think this is what all Pies supporters are born with. And with no brain thoughts put in what they say before opening their mouths.
They all will rubbish us but we will have the last laugh at the end of 09.
Then all the bad press we have got from them should be sent back to them and ask explain all these comments now.

1980 still stings eh Tony  :stupid.

Shaw says we're overrated and Grant Thomas the same night on SEN says there's a lot of hype surrounding us. Add the poor bitter sod Damien Barrett and there's plenty lining themselves up to end up with egg on their face. As supporters just store this one away like the rest in the memory bank until later on in the year where it'll be useful when calling into the radio stations Shaw and co. are on :thumbsup.

It has nothing to do with 1980.

In a ferret like T Shaw's eyes we are an easy target based on our failures over the years. Fare enough? So why is T Shaw a ferret apart from the fact he played for Collingwood?
Because if we are 8-3 at half way he'd be saying we can't keep up that intencity for the whole year and we are playing above ourselves
and if we finish 15-7 after 22 rounds his self adulation in picking us to be the seasons big imrovers will be gory to listen to.
Conversely if we finish 6-16 he will have a similar type of adulation also.
In short T Shaw is a tosser.

Perhaps comparing Wallace 4 yrs with his 4 at Collingwood at least Terry took us to 9th twice and we won games in June as opposed to Shaw's successful coaching stint at the Pies where 10 wins in 1997 was his best result. Wallace at least has a hope to get us into the 8 next year with an upside in our list. I would put Shaw into the Frawley school of coaching which says alot but Spud at least took us to 1 of our 2 finals series in the last 26 years. So I guess Shaw is in the lower echelon of the Frawley mould. Says alot and these morons anchor Footy on Foxtel. So help us God.

Don't be too hard on Danny. It took him a couple of years to perfect the Shaw coaching technique. His first couple off years were an absolute disaster but in the end he got his coveted wooden spoon and the all important messy departure. Tony will be proud.
