Riewoldt is poised to become just the eighth player in the competition’s history to reach the combined 300-game and 700-goal milestones.

The star Tiger key forward goes into the new season with 283 games and 664 goals to his credit.

The full list of players to accomplish this rare feat are:

•    Gordon Coventry (Collingwood): 306 games, 1299 goals.
•    Lance Franklin (Hawthorn/Sydney): 300 games, 944 goals.
•    Leigh Matthews (Hawthorn): 332 games, 915 goals.
•    Bernie Quinlan (Footscray/Fitzroy): 366 games, 817 goals.
•    Kevin Bartlett (Richmond): 403 games, 778 goals.
•    Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda): 336 games, 718 goals.
•    Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle): 353 games, 700 goals.

Cotchin added that three-time Coleman medallist Jack Riewoldt remained a force to be reckoned with despite entering the twilight of his career, having turned 32 a week after the grand final.

“What I’ve loved about Jack’s game is moreso the little things that he’s doing and the way he’s getting the best out of our younger players as well. It probably isn’t spoken about from a holistic point of view, but the tap-ons, the contests, they’re all things that we value in a side. He’s doing a great job for us,” Cotchin said.

Jack has had a fantastic preseason. He's moving as well as he has in years. Didn't have a preseason operation from memory so he had a great preseason. Looks great and looks fresh. Could have kicked 5 if he didn't drop that mark at the end' - Dimma post-match.

10 disposals ( 9k, 1h, 6c, 4u, 60% eff.)
4 marks ( 1 contested)
5 tackles ( 3 in50 )
3 inside 50s
2 intercepts
349 metres gained
8 score involvements
4 goals

Very small snippet in yesterday's HUN

Saying Jack wants to play on in 2022 and his manager Liam Pickering saying talks for a new deal will begin shortly now the season has started
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

You can’t complain when your oldest forward is leading the way with 5 tackles (3 inside 50) and 17 pressure acts.

Some of the best kicking for goal you’ll see too.

The club that keeps giving.
