Richmond discussion on AFL360 last night

AFL360 (FOX FOOTY)

TOP of the agenda was the fallout to Richmond’s elimination finals loss to Port Adelaide.

Host Gerard Whateley noted the incredible chasm between the two teams.

AS FOR the Tigers, Robinson said Sunday’s result proved they were nowhere near ready to challenge for a premiership.

“They’re still learning and realising this game’s tough,” he said.

“Teams like Hawthorn, Geelong and Sydney — it takes years to combat pressure and soak it in. You don’t fall down around it (pressure), you change it and change the outcome of games. Richmond didn’t change it.”

Robinson urged Richmond recruiters and list managers to avoid recruiting older players, something which the club had focused on during previous off-seasons.

“Continue to invest in the youth, get 40 games into this year’s draft picks, so when you’re challenging for a flag in three years’ time, they’ll have more games into them,” he said.

“The pressure Port applied to Richmond … Richmond didn’t stand up. They need leaders, but that’ll come with growth.
