NAB Cup: Anthony Miles back on home turf with a point to prove
By Jake Bourke
Border Mail
Feb. 22, 2014

ANTHONY Miles says Richmond will attack today’s NAB Challenge clash with Collingwood at full bore after last week’s shock loss to Melbourne.

With pride on the line at Wangaratta this afternoon, the former North Albury midfielder said the Tigers were desperate to atone after being out-muscled by Melbourne last weekend.

“Everyone has pulled up well and is ready to go,” Miles said.

“We’ve got a strong side in. We’re obviously missing Jack Riewoldt but, other than that, it’s a reasonably full-strength side.

“We spoke about our ferocity at the contest and just being competitive, more than anything.

“Our will at the contest this week is something we’re looking to improve.”

Miles looks a certain starter at Norm Minns Oval following his impressive display on debut for the yellow and black.

He compiled team-high contested possessions (11) and clearances (eight) on his way to 16 possessions and two goals.

The Richmond rookie is now a strong chance of promotion and playing in the Tigers’ round one clash against Gold Coast.

The former Murray Bushranger said he was looking forward to playing at the Wangaratta Showgrounds again.

“I haven’t played here in three or four years,” Miles said.

“It’s in unbelievable nick.

“I walked into the Bushies’ changerooms once we got here and got a bit jealous because we used to be across the road when I was there.

“The new facilities look amazing.”

The Tigers had a light training run after arriving in the North East late yesterday, with big guns Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio and Dustin Martin all taking part.

Richmond then mingled with Wangaratta-based fans, signing autographs and posing for pictures.

Cotchin, Deledio and Jake King proved most popular with the fans.

A capacity crowd of 11,000 is expected to attend today’s clash.

Hope Matt has a good game, there's one spot left on the list, supposedly.

Shame about Knights..
Yep WAT, it would've been good to see Knights and Gordon out there. You would Helbig's future at Punt Rd beyond this year is doubtful if as a fringe player he's been dropped after one practice game following a poor game against the Dees.

Interesting to hear how serious we take today's game and how our forward line functions. Still no Ivan and Jack of our big names so we're not completely at full strength yet.

That was Titch Edwards with the goal btw.

Petterd sucks in Grundy and gets 50m. Shot from 40m misses.

Good forward defensive pressure so far.

Grigg snaps another point.
