Look out ...even Slobbo's noticing.....

Quote
4. THE UMPIRING AT THE MCG ON SUNDAY

Richmond supporters were livid. They had every right to be. The free kick count was 20-11, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was the number of free kicks umpires didn’t pay when it appeared the Tigers had earnt them. Time and again, the Tigers would lay a tackle and not be rewarded for incorrect disposal. Salt was added to the wound when the Dockers, at times, received free kicks for incorrect disposal by the Tigers. Once again, confusion reigned about what exactly is prior opportunity. The more cynical Tigers supporter would say ‘what’s new’. Over the past five years, Richmond’s differential between free kicks for and free kicks against is -332. The next worst side is Hawthorn on -108. How can that properly be explained? Is there a vendetta? Or are the Tigers just sloppy or too aggressive with their tackling? If this was politics, a Royal Commission would be demanded. And if this was politics, we’d love Tigers officials to have parliamentary privilege so we could hear what they really think.
Exhibit A: This clear HTB not paid to us  :thumbsdown

Well, the umpiring must have been shocking for anyone in the media, let alone Robbo to finally comment

Sicily is 100% right on this one. How is it the jabba is first to call this out and the club sat on its arse and has done sfa about this topic.

They clearly don't gaf as most of them have one foot out the door already.

Usually things are leaked out if we have asked a please explain, in fact 99% of the time they are.

We have had pretty much crickets for years. The disdain for the afl was only evident when Dimma spoke a few times.

The fact that paid members thoughts on this  are dismissed  can only be construed as the club not giving a stuff. Business as usual they do a great job, hard job, legacy this and that

Club doesn't leak like it used to Frankie

Think you will find they have spoken to the AFL

That it hasn't made one iota of difference shouldn't surprise

Balme has been the only one that gives them a whack. This is getting worse by the week and frankly supporters and members are sick of it you can see the angst at games. What a we scared off 100k members the club has done stuffing all in my opinion. Let's say it how it is and cop a fine from this corrupt organisation. Robbed at the Gabba with the Lynch goal and everyweek practically get umpired different.

Should have been a 50m penalty.. Andrews iirc moved off the mark before Lynch even kicked it. Stand rule was ignored . How convenient

lets not forget the fact it was paid a goal and with that must come conclusive evidence to overturn...which never came.

what did come is Lynch didnt "celebrate enough"

That should explain quite clearly why idiots like that fruitloop keene and gil the loser are laughed at by people like me.

Spot on FJ. If the soft call was a point I’d have no complaints. The fact that they overturned it with absolutely inconclusive was a joke and still one of the biggest robberies in this goal review system era.

Article in Herald Sun today about Richmond's lack of free kicks. What is appalling is the free kicks that are not being paid. That has nothing to do with a player's technique. It can't be simply explained away as poor execution. The umpire  has made a conscious decision not to award the free.

Considering the AFL is a multi million if not billion dollar industry, we still have under paid and to be fair poor quality umpires. Along with the shocking score review system in place, surely the AFL should be spending more money in this area. Some of the decisions we have seen across the league this year have been shocking, from balls out of bounds, score reviews that aren't required and of course the obvious missed calls that all can see. These missed calls can turn a game, and especially when there is betting agencies involved, this continued ignorance should not continue as it is more than just a game these days.
Train the umps correctly, pay them more and penalise poor mistakes and missed calls so that they learn not to make them again.
Sorry for the rant...I didn't expect to actually write this much. I just get sick of having things not paid to us that the other teams get in the same game. We dont lose games due to these calls but it can definitely change a specific play.
Anyways....there's always next week
 :banghead

Meanwhile the AFL is floating the idea of premiership/grand final rings which wouldn't be cheap :-\
