Yep staring em in the face but hey cotch edwards martin prestia have 10 years left in em.

The worry is whats coming thru has to date been underwhelming. We keep screaming for em to be played but in fairness have they really demanded a spot.

I know they wouldnt pick this type of team but I want to see some youngsters given a go.

Grimes Tarrant Gibcus
Stack Miller Mansell
McIntosh Martin Short
Baker Balta Bolton
Sonsie Lynch M.Rioli Jnr.
Nankervis Pickett Edwards
Dow Broad Brown Ralphsmith

Balta and Lynch as keys. Baker, Bolton and Rioli applying the pressure.

Perhaps Picket should be given a go in the guts?

Is there a reason not to?

I agree. A big body in the centre bounces. Along with Martin and Edwards or Bolton we get it first out of the middle.

Out Graham, Aarts, Reiwoldt,Prestia, Soldo, Castagna
In Stack, Dow, Caddy, Mansell, McIntosh, RCD

Rioli & Ross very lucky.

Had enough of George, Caddy in for the season at least you know he can kick goals when he gets it.

Out: Prestia (inj), Riewoldt (inj), Aarts.

In: McIntosh, Sonsie, Dow.

Don't think Dimma will make major changes aside from forced ones after one round. Not usually his way. It's probably even wishful thinking on my part that Aarts gets dropped given he's a Dimma favourite. Underdone players will keep their spots IMV (Graham). Kmac obviously returns to a wing if he's right to go. Hugo backed in and given another chance from the start to keep his spot. Ross only stays in because Prestia and Lambert are injured and there's no one at VFL level pushing him out. He must play inside mid though otherwise drop him. The wing/outside experiment failed last year Dimma. Dumb to try it again in round 1.

My 'Spy' tells me Sonsie was our only real shining light in the ressies. He can run from contest to contest and win the ball which is what we need so bring him in for Prestia. RCD sadly struggled (still hampered by that rib injury?), Stack and Cumberland kicked junk time goals in the last, while Caddy was too busy arguing. Dow as the sub because he apparently was okay in the ressies and so is ahead of what's left :P. Our lack of midfield depth on full show  :-\.

No chance Dimma's love child Aarts gets dropped. He will torment us for at least another 3 games because he will have one half decent/mediocre game soon. Until someone on the match committee is strong enough to tap Dimma on the shoulder and says enough is enough your mate has to go...

After seeing gws push swans I am now concerned about this game.

With no obvious players to come in or
push up via the afl and our record being 2 from the past 9, our season could be over if we lose this

I am not as down in the mouth due to the evenness of the competition and also the fact we were actually in front of the match longer than the Blues.
The brain fade 50’s and the inability to stop opposition momentum are the keys.

In some ways, perhaps Jack Graham did us a favour handing them momentum on a platter to wake us up in round 1 rather than escaping with a cheap win and papering over the cracks.

We need energy in that midfield set up. Can’t continue with that rotation in the last q.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The momentum thing is huge. I remember back in 2017 around mid season, in one of the post match pressers Hardwick praised the team in stopping opposition run ons. He said the team developed a playing style which stopped oppositions from kicking more than 2 consecutive goals and it was actually rare for oppositions to pile on 3 or more straight goals.

That has all about deserted us. I think the mids are the main culprit but true f50 pressure isn’t helping either. Turning it over in D50 more often or not has allowed teams to use the wings and completely burn us on the rebound.

I don’t know how first year players are going to help With that but after Thursday’s performance I am thinking maybe the club were being too cute not picking up
