Thought in a few passages of play he showed composure and polish under pressure.

Rookie Jason Castagna was also singled out by the coach for another impressive performance, winning a season-high 23 possessions and five inside 50s in his fourth game.

The 19-year-old, who started the season as a half-back, has improved every game and is shooting for a senior list spot in the last six weeks.

"It's been good to break back into the side and play a bit of midfield and forward and find a bit of the ball," he told AFL.com.au.

"I'm rapt to be out there and playing my role for the team, I just want to keep my spot and hopefully play out the rest of the season.

"I feel a lot more comfortable in my second year as part of the group and a lot more comfortable with my role."

George is going really well.
Great effort by him to have improved in most areas of his game. But I think his kicking wasn't as bad as a few made out.
Anyway it doesn't really matter, he is fast becoming an important part of our future.

Where do people see him playing long term?
Could he eventually become a regular in our midfield?

Yep in the mid field. Reckon he can play both inside and outside mid roles because he plays without fear.

I'm really happy with what Castagna is doing for us, but I'm no closer to knowing what his best role is!  So far he has shown great desire to hunt the ball & that he can play at both ends.  I'm loving his fight & aggression, he's a real goer!
Ultimately I'd like to make him into a small/medium defender, someone who can go against the gun small forwards that have always troubled us.  I think we need to give him the responsibility of a one on one defensive match up & back him to win the battle over four quarters.  I'd like to see him get the job on Cyril this week as a learning process, just to see where he is at.  I don't expect him to beat Cyril, but I know he'll give it a red hot go & that's all I'm asking for!  Go George!    :clapping

Although it would be nice to have him as a defender, I can't see him having the non stop defensive qualities to be one.
He offers more up the ground IMHO.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Apparently if he is a midfielder he is not allowed to play in the back line

I agree.
And I'm not sure he has the natural footy smarts to be a genuine mid.

I was thinking more like the Puopolo roll at Hawthorn. Not really sure what George is like overhead but he has a lot of the other similarities to Pop.
With our lack decent key forwards it would be nice to have some real damaging smaller forwards like Pop, Cyril and Breust.
Could ours sound something like this in a couple of years, George, Rioli and Lloyd??
