The Sydney Swans have elected to not match the offer and George Hewett is now able to join Carlton immediately.

The Sydney Swans are to receive an end of Round Two compensation selection.

Tom Browne on 7news just now said the Bulldogs and us are working behind the scenes over bunching some of our 2nd/3rd round picks in exchange for their first round pick #17.

The Dogs need the draft points for Sam Darcy and we now have them to spare with 5 picks in the 2nd/3rd rounds.

Watch here: https://twitter.com/7NewsMelbourne/status/1443861066828574722
As per last night's report:

DOGS’ PICK 17 PART OF TRADE TALKS WITH TIGERS TO HELP LAND DARCY

Richmond and the Western Bulldogs are exploring a trade that would see the Tigers land Pick 17 in exchange for later selections to help facilitate father-son prospect Sam Darcy’s move to Whitten Oval, reports 7 News’ Tom Browne.

It comes as Richmond received an end of second-round compensation pick (No. 38) for free agent Mabior Chol signing with Gold Coast Suns.

The Tigers are now armed with a strong hand ahead of the November National Draft, holding Picks 7, 15, 26, 28, 38, 40 and 44.

And with Darcy expected to receive a bid with one of the early selections, the Dogs need to add draft points, currently only holding Picks 17 and 72.

“The Tigers have five picks now in the second and third rounds. Richmond can in effect group those up for Pick 17,” Browne said.

“The Dogs can then use those draft points for their star father-son prospect. That’s what they’re working on behind the scenes.”

Out-of-contract Docker Darcy Tucker’s future at the club is uncertain. Geelong is reportedly among Victorian clubs interested in the Fremantle midfielder, according to the West Australian.

West Coast has launched a bid for Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordon Sweet, reports AFL Media.  Sweet, 23, is reportedly exploring his options after a lack of senior opportunities at the Bulldogs, stuck behind veteran ruckman Stefan Martin this season.

Pretty sure we were linked to Tucker at some point last year when were trying to get Cerra......either way Geelong are welcome to him... :shh

The Bulldogs ... are reportedly eyeing off Richmond’s picks in the 20s in exchange for pick 17 in what would be a win-win trade to land Darcy.

I wouldnt do that. They can take later picks for points. Id keep our picks in the 20s. In the 20s you can find decent players so thats a No for me.

100%

Especially if we get a pick for CCJ maybe 39 + something else like Tarrant.

They can eye off 38, 39, 41 & 46. Work something out there.

If we go to the draft with 7, 15, 17, 26 & 28 I'm thrilled.

Yep. Spot on. Trade them later picks not the picks in the 20s.

What if we get pick 20? Would you let go of 28.
I would.

If we got 20 I would let 28 go but not to the bulldogs. We can use it to upgrade another pick but unless we got 20 first I wouldnt do it. At 20 you can get a decent player.

If we get 20 I'd let 28 go HRT. If it was the dogs wed still be looking at 5 picks in the top 30. Golden chance here to set ourselves up for a decade or so.

The issue is the dogs dont need our picks in the 20s we can accomodate them with later picks. Theyre the ones who need the points for Darcy not us.

We are in a good position with a few clubs looking for points, so no rush , look for the best deal at this stage . If we don’t  do a deal , trade some picks into next year so no loss. At a guess , We will probably have to give up pick 38 for 20 in the Tarrant /Colman Jones trade but it’s a good position to be in.
PS : heard a rumour that Collingwood need a key forward ruck and may like to put wrap Coleman Jones and ours pick to match Daicos for their 1st next year- no source , it came from Collingwood link. I hope it’s true

Reductions in list sizes and the salary cap are the major factors behind why this looms as a somnolence-inducing 10-day AFL trade period.

Of the players widely expected to be traded, it is likely only Adam Cerra (Fremantle to Carlton), Jordan Dawson (Sydney to Adelaide) and maybe Jordan Clark (Geelong to Fremantle) will move in deals involving first-round draft selections. There could yet be curve-balls and deals which have not yet emerged publicly, but the widespread expectation from clubs is the next week and a half are going to be as dull as the 2017 Boxing Day Test.

Tiges another one who’s looking to improve their Draft hand. In terms of trades, Lobb is an option and is on their radar but it’s tough to see how a deal gets done.
