Not to be negative, but all hype a few years ago we use pick 20 for CCJ, develop him, now he goes to NM, for a packet of chips.

All that work, all he wants to do is play footy and because we give him no meaningful game time we lose him.

Now we are postulating how we will use our picks.

We need to have a better system to integrate players into the firsts.

I’d rather have won 3 premierships than pander to a young player who was behind and rightfully so all of lynch, Riewoldt, nank and soldo. Had he not had a midnight craving for a kebab he may have found himself a premiership player. This year when the team was faltering he was picked when fit so it is what it is.

I'll take pick 1 & 19 in next year's draft.

CCJ has proven himself a flog.
Like Jack Higgins, gets supported when he needed us and then flicks us the first chance he gets.

I say good riddance.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Need a forward to replace Jack. There appeared to be nothing on offer in the trade period. I don't think either Chol or CCJ were the type of forward we needed. I hope we get some luck in the draft.

Jye Amiss, supposed to go around 15ish. 195cm and booted 51.16 or something like that this year.

I hope he gets to our second pick!

Not for me - he is a classic 2 grabber which doesn't cut it at AFL level

Yes  noticed that or he took chest marks and wondered if that would be a problem at AFL level.

We should take the 2 best midfielders we can at picks 7 and 15. We need to get our midfield right.

It's a midfielders draft this year - talls don't appear to be much chop but next year is supposed to be a bumper crop.... :shh

We should just take the 2 best players available at those picks

That’s pretty much what I’ve heard is the strategy for all list managers. You take the best player available in the early stages of the draft and then focus on positional need in latter stages.

Which clubs won or lost in quietest AFL player-movement period in a decade?

RICHMOND

We say: After the somewhat surprising retirement of triple-premiership fullback David Astbury, the Tigers were in the market for a senior key back as part of one last flag push. Robbie Tarrant fits the bill perfectly, and Richmond did very well to orchestrate a trade with Callum Coleman-Jones to avoid cancelling out the compensation for Mabior Chol. However, there's no getting around the fact the Tigers have lost two developing forward targets and have no obvious replacement for Jack Riewoldt on their books, despite how bullish the club is around raw duo Samson Ryan and Mate Colina. – Sarah Black
