The two are Steele Sidebottom and Lynden Dunn.

Sidebottom under investigation over alleged breaches

Collingwood star Steele Sidebottom is under investigation for multiple breaches of the AFL's COVID-19 protocols.

Sidebottom and teammate Lynden Dunn have both been interviewed for alleged breaches that took place last weekend following the Magpies' loss to Greater Western Sydney in Sydney.

Sidebottom is alleged to have committed three potential breaches such as travelling in an Uber, staying in the company of someone for longer than two hours and visiting former teammate Daniel Wells in Williamstown. Wells, who works with the Magpies but is not in the club's ''bubble'', is not a person he is allowed to visit under the AFL rules.

If Sidebottom is suspended it will be a massive blow for the Magpies ahead of their clash with Essendon on Friday night.

Dunn, who shared an Uber ride with Sidebottom, is injured and not available this week.

The players were interviewed by the AFL on Monday.

In a statement, the AFL confirmed an investigation into a potential breach of COVID-19 protocols without naming the Collingwood pair.

Collingwood star Steele Sidebottom was driven home by police after his alleged AFL return to play protocols breach, foxfooty.com.au has confirmed.

Victoria Police confirmed on Wednesday morning that Sidebottom was taken home by police — but not charged with any offence — after being spotted near a Williamstown road on Sunday morning.

Foxfooty.com.au understands Sidebottom had no battery on his phone at the time, so police gave him a lift home.

A Victoria Police statement read: “Police officers located a 29-year-old man in Hanmer Street, Williamstown on Sunday morning 28 June just before 7.30am.

“He was not charged with any offence and after speaking to police was conveyed home.”

It means Sidebottom could face a lengthy suspension for allegedly breaching three strict AFL COVID-19 protocols.

It’s understood the AFL will deliver a sanction by Thursday at the latest.

The Age reported Sidebottom “had been drinking alcohol when the alleged breaches occurred”, according to sources ...

Sidebottom given a 4 week suspension by the AFL.

Dunn copped one week.

Ch 9 said Collingwood's not happy but they won't contest the decision.

Eddie tonight: 'Steele is a good bloke who made a mistake. He didn't mean to do it. He didn't deliberately go out to breach the covid rules. He self-reported. He accepts the punishment. He won't be losing the vice captaincy.'

Lloyd was the only one who spoke up and reminded Eddie that Eddie was quite vocal a month ago questioning how players could be that stupid when other players breached covid rules.

Not sure If Fat Ed has more chins or conflicts of interest?

Depends if he’s on his annual juice diet.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
