63 games in 7 years don't equate to a champion, which is what people are silently hoping for.
No Maric ,No hope.
Deal with it.

Maric wasn't a champion at Adelaide either and lets face it he's really only been a one season wonder at Richmond thus far - was average at best last year and we still made the 8. Hamspud can at least break even in the hit-outs and he usually taps to advantage - my big problem with him is that he's so utterly useless around the ground that we're virtually a man down in general play with him on the field.

You underestimate Ivan.
He has the ability to get the team to lift.
He's a stuffn gun like that.
His physical presence is as importnt as whether he is a great ruck man or not.
A bloke with leadership qualities in a team of soft cox.

In 2012 yes, but last year I only saw brief glimpses of that. People shouldn't mistake things like his goal in the EF as being indicative of his whole year - it wasn't. Was often non-competative against the better rucks - to the point we even conceded the hit-outs and devised a new strategy against West Coast, which luckily paid off- partly because WC were poo last year. Was about as quick as treacle and looked like a log around the ground  - opposition players regularly skipped around and away from him with ease, was often fumbly with the ball, slow in attack - and frankly,  his disposal and decision-making was almost comical at times.

Though all that around the ground stuff is still better than Hamspud on a good day.

in fairness, his groin was rooted though. you could tell he wasnt moving with any real freedom.

the strange thing is that they said before last season that his problem couldnt be operated on but only managed, then they sent him in for surgery post season..  :huh

I think this will be a great game for Hampson to gain confidence over a smaller opponent. If he can ruck out the game and win the 'taps to advantage' I will be wrapped. I'm not expecting him to become a NickNat. I just want him to play his role which is the exact reason he was traded for - to play a role. Maric was recruited to play a role too and grew from that into one of the better ruckmen in the league.

I don't expect Hampson to make the same rapid improvement but the opportunity is there for him now and I don't think he will let his team-mates down. Maric will become our Ottens (Geelong version) and be played sparingly now. I don't think his body will let him play for long periods any longer so Hampsons recruitment and Griffiths improvement is extremely timely.

An injury prone 2013 nullified his efforts, granted yet he went about his business and played above what his body was dictating. .... Unlike Jack.

on maric im with ox.
on hampsons game i thought it was a good one in the ruck. didnt do much else though..   hes yet to go up against a real frontline ruckman. then we will see what we have here.

anyway you can only play against whats in front of you.  most signs look good to date.
