That may be so...but how is constantly giving a side like Hawthorn open space and allowing one uncontested possession after another any better....if we're too slow and not agile enough in a one-on-one situation how can we be expected to compete with them by giving them a 10 -20 metre head starts all the time.... in tight you at least have a fighting chance , can slow them down and they're not just waltzing down field unchallenged winding up their superior pace and using their superior footskills to hit up the free teammates that are all over the park...at least one-on -one puts a bit more pressure on them and makes them more accountable....zone defence to me only further exposes our poor skills, fitness and lack of pace....

Astbury's game was one of the few positives. His development been one of the few highlights of the season.

To be fair to Cotchin he was being close checked by an experienced opponent in Langford who probably got chaired off by Burgoyne and Mitchell for his 10th game.

Langford has a good teacher in his father who was a a champion defender. One of the smartest footballing brains in football back then & today, Who could easily replace Demetriou & do it well. So l would expect nothing less from a 10 gamer who has everyone watching him claim scalps. But Cotchin body is not 100% as he takes a battering weekly. We need another Tuck type player to protect our mids & one of these lads like Arnot will deliver with game time

Yes true & remove Chaplin & give Batchlor time to fill his role. Batchlor can play

Although Richmond was well beaten by reigning premier Hawthorn at the MCG yesterday (Sunday), defender Dylan Grimes believes there were signs the Tigers had turned the corner in terms of quicker, more decisive ball movement.

“That was a focus of ours going into the game.  There were patches where we did do it,” Grimes told ‘Roar Vision’.

“It showed that we’ve improved on recent weeks, and that’s something that we’ll really try and drive going into the Geelong game (next Sunday).”

“Our KPI’s were all red for us this week, so that was the most disappointing thing,” Grimes said.

“We didn’t play the way we wanted to play.  Basically, they made us defend a lot of the time, which was very taxing on us . . .”

I can't believe a guy who the club pays hundreds of thousands of dollars per year can't see that this guy is an imposter. A netballer playing AFL.  :banghead

They have KPI's, cannot believe it, must have run out of red ink by now. Would love to know what they are, the team must be so far from them it's not funny. You defend a lot of the time Dylan because if you don't attack then regularly turn over possession that's all there is left to do.  :banghead

this article is a small example of whats wrong with Richmond FC. "Tigers ready to run"

GOT A NEWS FLASH YOU BLOKES THE SEASON STARTED WEEKS AGO. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE UP AND RUNNING THEN, NOT WHEN YOU SEASON IS SHOT TO PIECES.

But what worries me more is they actually put this tripe up on the club website. They actually believe the tripe and the spin they're peddling.

"OOOH THEY MADE US DEFEND AND WE GOT TIRED......"  ffs....if the tigers of the world could talk they'd mount a class action against this club for bringing their species into disrepute.....from ruthless to toothless.....we should swap mascots with Geelong after next week's match....

Maybe Slater & Gordon could do it as a no win no fee job with all compo to go to saving the tigers of the wild!
