What is the rubber band drill?
You pair up with one of those elastic strengthening ropes around the both of you. One player stands there like a post to give the rope resistance while his teammate chases after a footy that's getting knocked down to the ground after he handballs it back to a trainer or a third teammate. I'm guessing it's done to simulate getting the ball away cleanly while an opponent is holding onto to you or tackling you.

Yeah, it's resistance training to build up leg strength, but combined with skills work.

Cuz is training fully and is his classy self on the park. I got a bit nervous when in the middle of a drill he suddenly walked over to the fence near us and started stretching his hammy. But he went straight back to the drill and completed the whole session. Touchwood we get a full season out of him this year now he's had a year in footy and another preseason behind him.

longer he stays at Richmond the more influential he can become in helping the younger players. All going well I can see him playing atleast 2 more seasons.

If Cuz's hammies can hold up then yep I agree Ramps he could play beyond this year. He showed last year he's still got it and he should be better off this year with a full preseason behind him. But as we know with over 30s it only takes one serious injury to end their career no matter how good their form still is. Richo found that out the hard way  :(.

Is Polak wearing a helmet?
No mention of Griffiths- is he training?
Polak - no helmet today but there was no heavy full-on contact. I'd expect him to continue to wear a helmet during actual games.

I didn't notice Griffiths out there. I'll check my photos just in case I missed him.

Its double sided training MT. Its used quite a bit in Rugby circles.
Firstly its for building up the core muscles (legs/midriff etc) used in tackling.
Secondly its to teach the player to keep running and not to just stop when you are trying to break a tackle or putting more pressure on when laying a tackle.  Its very good for teaching players how to get up on their toes and keep pumping the legs, the proper technique will help a smaller player take down or at least hold someone of a larer stature.

I was down at Punt Road this mornig about 11.00am to pick up my new polo

Anyway the boys were training, I only watched for about 5 minutes

Funniest sight of the day was the seeing scoreboard end of the ground being underwater...

It meant they they couldn't train on the entire ground. I would say 1/3 of the ground was out of action  ;D

According to BF they did 10 mins goalkicking practice.

Andy Collins said he's definitely playing on Sat and Cotch was limping thru the carpark, but he didn't look restricted, could just be his walk or a bit of soreness??

Cotchin was pushing Graham's car with Graham inside dancing the music he had on. Cotch looked fine pushing it, and refused one bloke's offer to help. Fwiw.
