I went to training yesterday (Tuesday). The only absentees were Connors for obvious reasons and Gilligan. I was told Connors may play either this or next week for Coburg (still barred from Richmond training for the 6 weeks). Gilly is still back in WA. I heard today from someone that a relative close to him was dying which is why he is back there but don't know if that's true. All I knew was he was back home for personal reasons.

As far as rehab Simmo, Cotch and Jacko hardly trained. All 3 weren't included in any drills that included aerobic running. While the main squad trained they did some handballing and boxing between themselves. Simmo and Jacko in the last 20 minutes joined in the midfield group for the close-in stoppage/clearance drills. Cuz sat out the last 20 mins. All will play. Thursty told a friend of mine he'll be back this week. Newy did a fitness test before training and then trained. He said he was fine.

For the main squad they worked in their separate three lines - defence, mids and forwards. The forwards spent most of the session doing handball keepings off between themselves with just 10 minutes of goalkicking at the end. The mids worked on stoppage plays while the backline group worked on close-in clearances from defensive 50 with a long kick outside the 50 over the head of a teammate who would mark with the flight of the ball and then switch with the long kick to the opposite flank.

Mids - Dusty, Foley, Cuz, Collo, Edwards, White, Hislop, Thomo, Jordie, O'Reilly, Vickery, Browne, Gus plus Simmo and Jacko (last 20 mins)

Forwards - Jack, Astbury, Morton, Blingers, Taylor, Griffiths, Westhoff, Polak, Gourdis, Rance, Nahas, Roberts, Kingy

Backs - McGuane, Will, Moore, Newy, Lids, Farmer, Tucky, Polo

I can't remember exactly what group Dea and Webbs were. I think Dea was in defence and webberley the midfield. Postie was out there too but I only saw him when he went past us at the start and end of training.

thx for the report MT, is that new this season that the mids, backs and forwards all train seperately? and interesting to see that Lids has been grouped with the defenders, I like this move, I reckon he needs a challenge and will free him from the attention he attracts in the midfield

I put this :thumbsup in to say what MT had written was correct not because it's a great thing.

And because of the fact that I am going to my best mates father's funeral tomorrow it's fair to say I know it's not a great thing
