Talia I think failed the medical with RFC, hence we went for Tarrant.

Can Miller play in a backline that has Grimes, Tarrant, Broad and Vlastuin to mentor/protect him?

Richmond General Manager - Football Talent Blair Hartley said that Tarrant would strengthen the Tigers’ defensive group.

“We are very excited to welcome Robbie to our football club,” he said.

“Robbie is a disciplined and diligent defender with a skill set that complements our other backs well.

“Robbie has played at an outstanding level for an extended period of time, and we believe he has plenty more good football left in him.

Here are some other facts about Robbie Tarrant . . .

- He was born in Mildura.

- He is the younger brother of former Collingwood star forward Chris Tarrant.

- He originally played for South Mildura in the Sunraysia League (part of Richmond’s old country recruiting zone).

- Before being drafted by North Melbourne, he worked as a bank teller at the Bendigo Bank in Bendigo and played TAC Cup under-18s football with Bendigo Pioneers.

- He was drafted by the Kangaroos with their first pick (No. 15 overall) in the 2007 AFL national draft.

- He had three shoulder reconstructions in his first two years at North and did not play senior football throughout that time.

- He made his AFL debut in Round 15, 2010 v Sydney at the SCG.

- He broke a thumb in his second game, which was against Richmond at the MCG, and missed the rest of the season.

- He won North Melbourne’s Best and Fairest award in 2016.

- He averages 14.6 disposals, 5.3 marks. 3.3 rebound-50s, 216.6 metres gained and 4.5 one-percenters per game in his AFL career.

- The most disposals he has had in a match is 28 v Geelong, Round 2, 2017, Marvel Stadium.

- The most marks he has taken in a match is 16 v Hawthorn, Round 5, 2018, Marvel Stadium.

- The most rebound-50s he has had in a match is 12 v Essendon, Round 17, 2019, Marvel Stadium.

- The most metres gained he has had in a match is 560 v Geelong, Round 21, 2019, GMHBA Stadium.
