Tackling seemed markedly improved but we still don't shepherd anywhere near enough IMO. Will find us out again when the real stuff starts.

Watched this game a couple of times now and there was plenty of good stuff to come out of it.
But the biggest thing to come out of it for me and hopefully the team and the club is just the belief that we can beat the Pies. A win like this, even if it's only a practice games, hopefully it may show some of our older player that maybe we have gone past Colloingwood. That's why even winning practice games is important, practice winning, practice beating teams that have had the edge over us for a long time.
Winning games of footy is a mindset. We need to have the mindset of every time we play a game of footy nomatter who we play, that we will win.
Belief comes from winning, that's why last weeks games against  Melbourne was pathetic. We shouldn't give anyone the slightest hope anytime they play us. If you beat Melbourne by 100 points last week, the first thing on their minds in the season proper is how last time we smashed them.
Equals easy win!

It's a fair point big tone. Steve Waugh was uncompromising. No slacking off in dead rubbers - his hate of losing was built playing in unsuccessful teams of the 80s. We don't have to win every practise game but players like Lids, Cotch, Jackson, Jack and Newman should have a vitriol for losing that drives them in every game now we are good enough to consistently compete.

Agree with both BT and YandB.  That's what I expected to see after a much-vaunted vocal and public pre-season driven by the need for retribution.  The Melbourne game couldn't have been further from that if they tried.

I must say I agree wholeheartedly with the last three comments by Big Tone, Yellow and Black and Smokey. Whatever the situation, whenever the Tigers run out I want them to win, or at the very least try their very best to win. Which is why I couldn't understand all the "they were experimenting" and "who cares, it was just a practice match" comments in the wake of our loss to Melbourne.
